Great local Mexican place! We go pretty often and usually enjoy our food and the Perfect Margaritas. However, I must say the last time we went the service was horrible for not that many people (never did get my drink) and the food seemed like it had sat out a bit before being served to us. So... this is an update to my previous review and It is a solid 4 stars. We have ordered take away 2 times since our 1st experience. The 1st was with the credit they gave us for our order being messed up so of course they got everything right... now what if we were not using the comp they owed us??? Well I'll tell it was bombdiggidy! Both times we got the steak and chicken fajitas, both times the portions were enough for dinner 2 nights in a row, the flavor is nom mom nom. And we are happy campers. Also the owners really care what the clientele think. They respond to yelp reviews as constructive input and take it to heart. Next time we get Casa Durango we will actually go in and sit down. I'm eager to try a margarita everyone is raving about... and a good margarita is always worth an extra star so hopefully my next update will be 5 stars. I love their spicy salsa here! It's delish. I admit I come here mainly for that. lol. Beware: sometimes the salsa can be spicier than the average person can handle though. hehe. Their carne asada is really good too, although the steak portion is disappointingly small. The best deal here though is to come during lunch. Their burritos are only $5.99 and are huge (tad smaller during lunch) and yummy. Get the Durango burrito with an extra side of their spicy salsa. read more

I like coming here when I'm craving chile rellano. They make them just how I like. I've been here a couple times now and had a great experience every time. Food is always hot and service is very friendly, one of the servers remembered I like a margarita on the rocks with my dinner. The only thing keeping the place from 5 stars is the ambiance and maybe a little bit on service with the language barrier of some of the staff, but they make up for it in spades with great food, fresh ingredients, bold flavors and the awesome personality of the owner Antonio. Don't let the location scare you off, in a strip mall near the department of licensing isn't where I expected to find great margaritas, and chips and salsa that are both made from scratch in house. Not only that, but Durango has amazing lunch specials, and great dinner items too. My favorite at dinner is without a doubt the lamb shank. At lunch try the enchiladas, the chile colorado, or if your hungry take a shot at the durango burrito (this thing is $6 but no joke!) It's a must try for mexican food, I even sent my parents who live in bothell to come down and try it and they said it was worth the drive. read more

Loved this place. We ducked in after visiting the driver's license station in the same strip center. After spending what seemed like several weeks in the DL office, we were hungry, and this seemed like an authentic little family restaurant. I ate here about 12 years ago. It was a small taqueria with a limited menu. It appears to have transformed in a full service restaurant. We came for happy hour, so it was $1 tacos. That said, I just had 3 tacos and they were good. Now, the online menu said tacos were $.50 and came in Chicken or Beef, however again the prices were doubled and chicken was not an option. I'd come back and sample more of the menu, but I always worry about places that have bad details on their website. This is a digital age and most people makes choices based on online content, so when business don't maintain that presence, makes me wonder what else if off. read more

We came in for the lunch special because we heard these guys had good food. We weren't disappointed. Warm chips and some really good salsa on the table within a couple of minutes of being seated. After we ordered, the food came pretty quick (you can't rush good food), but it was worth the wait. They have great lunch specials. The Durango burrito costs $6.00, and it can feed two people. Their chips and salsa are complimentary, warm, and tasty. Their service is a hit-or-miss. Sometimes, the waitress is attentive and sometimes she is not. Sometimes you need to ask for water and chips refill, but she has not been rude to us. I would definitely recommend going there for lunch and getting the Durango burrito. You won't regret it. read more

I don't know how we found this place. We lived close at one point but it's one of those places that are somewhat hidden in a strip mall type setting. Their Customer Service is awesome. Everyone's very personable and attentive. There are so many Mexican restaurants and some are ok but some are really good. This place is really good. They have the Durango Burrito which is their house special burrito. For a girl, this will get you through 3 separate meals.. A guy, maybe 2 unless he's really hungry. It's not the typical Mexican restaurant setting. It's a little smaller and next door is a bar that is also owned by them. Weekend evenings can get pretty loud when they have live music so not the setting for a romantic date. But otherwise, it's comfortable. The food is good. Well I go here fairly often and I love it. Some of the best Mexican food you can get. Now I know good Mexican food is getting easier and easier to find now, but this place is just awesome. Phenomenal service. The girls are amazing! I have been here 4 times and every time has been consistent food and service. Tacos are amazing the meat is prepared so well. The seafood dishes are delicious , and they have amazing daily drink specials. 3 stars is me being nice. I had the taquitos, the positive side is they customized for me. The waitress was pleasant. The negative side is the taquitos had no flavor at all...none. I just ate fried cardboard. I got chips but no salsa and I only had enough, guacamole and sour cream for about 11/2 taquitos. My wife and I frequented this place many times when we lived in Renton, and Antonio and his staff NEVER disappointed. 1. The house-made salsa is very good. Not great most nights, but always very good. If you get lucky, it's great. 2. Antonio is the best bartender there, and not because he's the best mixologist. He's the best BARTENDER. He makes it a lot of fun, and he pours stiff drinks. Everyone is his amigo. 3. One night, I ordered the chili verde, and our server said no. No? NO. Uhhh... wha? He told us the colorado sauce was better that night, and it was excellent. 4. Good-sized portions. 5. The best part? Soccer on the bar TVs. Always. Am I a soccer fan? Nope. Very disappointed overall compared to the last time I visited this restaurant. The salsa is very good, but the chips tasted like they were made a few hours ago. Second problem was it was very cold in the restaurant, one of the waitresses was even wearing a puffy down jacket....so we kept our jackets on. Moving on to the food. I ordered the supreme fajitas which come with steak, chicken and shrimp. The steak and chicken were both good and seasoned well. The shrimps that were supposed to be"tiger shrimp" were small and tasted fishy...yuck. Also it seemed they were skimping a bit, the fajitas mix said it had mushrooms but there was literally two slices. The pico de gallo was about 5 small tomato chucks, enough to use on one fajita. Service was mediocre. They dropped off food quickly and I didn't have a chance to say they forgot to bring my side of jalepanos until halfway through the meal when the server came back to offer my boyfriend another drink, which had been empty for a while. There was a party that was being focused on, we were done eating and another guy came up after 5-10 minutes and asked if we needed boxes. Just really subpar. We came about a month prior and had a better experience, but I will probably not be back after this....many other Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from! read more

Dont let the parking lot detour you My husband and I have been looking for an authentic Mexican food restaurant and found Casa Durango. The food here is amazingly authentic. All of the sauces, soups and entrees are made from scratch. The chili verde and the fresh chili relleno are delicious not to mention the scratch margaritas are the best I have had since Mexico. Antonio is a pleasure upon greeting you to making sure you have the right food and spirits for your mood. He also cooks with fresh local ingredients so is great at recommending the specials. This atmosphere is extremely casual. My husband and I usually drive to Seattle to get really good food and were pleasantly surprised that we have a local spot to dine in or have a quick drink for Happy Hour. My boyfriend and I frequent Casa Durango probably twice a month or more. By far one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants I've been to since I was actually in Mexico. Everything tastes so fresh, and the service is impeccable. I have never had a negative experience here. The veggie burrito is my favorite, my boyfriend likes the chicken enchiladas, and big portions (for all the hungry peeps out there). We both agree the salsa is the winner though! So spicy! So good! And somehow it's always a little different, but always awesome. I have not been to the karaoke nights on the weekends, but it always looks hoppin' in there! DISGUSTING. I cannot believe anyone that ate here actually enjoyed it. I grew up in San Jose, CA around a large Mexican community and have a huge extended Mexican family so I'm incredibly familiar with authentic Mexican food. I am by no means picky or jaded, I just know good food from bad food. Please trust me when I say that this was absolutely foul. There are so many things wrong here, I don't even know where to begin. The dirty restaurant, the fact that the place was nearly empty at 6:15pm, the inattentive and slightly argumentative staff, the chips and salsa that were free on the first round and then $3.95 PER PERSON on subsequent rounds (WTF?!), salsa that was completely bland and forgettable -- a huge warning flag for a good Mex restaurant, not to mention the fact that it took nearly 20 minutes to receive food that was clearly pre-cooked, in a near empty restaurant. Then, God help us, there was the actual food we ordered. Between two adults and a child we had a ground beef taco (my son's choice, really unfortunate) which tasted so foul none of us would eat it. We all thought it was a dead ringer in both looks and taste for wet dog food. The refried beans looked like diarrhea and spread in a puddle all over the plate. Side note: he actually ordered whole pinto beans because he hates and refuses to eat the refried style, which I explained to the waitress. Still they came refried, but they were so liquidy that it was all over the plate, all over his taco, seeping into the rice and when I reminded her that he wanted them whole, she rolled her eyes and muttered something and then started to take his food back to be remade. Try eating in front of a hungry 4 year old while he waits another 15-20min for his dinner, that's just F'd up. I ended up scraping the beans off and wiping the taco down with a napkin. On to the adults food. Two tacos ($2 each!) for me. One an incredibly fatty, yet powder dry BBQ beef steak, oddly not carne asada, which is typically the only BBQ beef steak on a menu, which ended up being dusted with some strange orange powder. Also ordered the carne asada, which is what we always judge good tacos based on. Both meats were bone friggin dry and looked like tiny pellets, in tortillas so thin that they fell apart (though doubled Baja style in larger tortillas) within a few minutes of arrival. There was also a plate of not-so-Super Nachos, which came looking like it was just a plate of melted cheese with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole on top with a scattering of tomato chunks. When you scrape the cheese away, you find the same diarrhea beans covering the entire bottom of the plate with some pickled jalapeños and the most dry shredded chicken I've ever eaten, sort of blended into the mess of beans. Man, it was like chewing on rope. Not an exaggeration. Around 20 minutes after receiving our food, the waitress comes over and not making any eye contact asks how the food is. I respond with "barely edible", to which she mutters "ok, good" and then walks away. Part of me thinks that she knows how terrible the food is, and isn't surprised to hear that. The bill comes and we're over charged. I'm over it. We paid, and left still hungry. This was a monumentally crappy experience. Please don't waste money or time here. There are 14 taquerias and Mexican restaurants within 2 miles of this place. We only came here because of the good reviews, and drove 20 minutes in traffic to get here! Try the Taqueria el Taco Maestro a few blocks away instead. They have ridiculously good food, and pretty much anything you'd like from a Mex restaurant on their menu. Bonus, they're super friendly!
