Super friendly service and quick! The food was just ok. I ordered 3 street tacos and the meat was hefty but unfortunately not very good. The meat was super tough and the seasoning was just meh. I ended up eating 1.5 tacos out of the 3.

Solid Mexican food in the Renton Highlands. Margaritas could be better, but a great go-to option.

An Authentic Taste of MexicoStepping into Casa Durango is like receiving a warm hug--it instantly transports you out of the everyday and into a vibrant, welcoming space that feels genuinely authentic. While many Mexican restaurants rely on the same tired formula, Casa Durango delivers a fresh, deeply flavorful experience rooted in tradition, making it a true neighborhood gem.Atmosphere and VibeThe dining room is festive and inviting, decorated with colorful textiles, thoughtful Mexican artistry, and warm lighting. It strikes the perfect balance between casual and celebratory. Whether you're stopping in for a quick lunch or settling down for a family dinner, the energy is always positive, and the aroma of slow-cooked meats and fresh masa sets a wonderful anticipation for the meal ahead. The Food: Richness and CraftsmanshipThe true excellence of Casa Durango lies in its cooking. This is not mass-produced Tex-Mex; this is cuisine built on care and quality ingredients. You can immediately taste the difference in the salsas, which are vibrant, layered with flavor, and clearly made in-house daily. For a true test of their skill, I highly recommend the Enchiladas con Mole Poblano. The mole sauce here is complex, deep, and rich--it achieves that perfect, delicate balance between smoky chili heat, nuttiness, and subtle chocolate sweetness. The portions are generous, the tortillas are perfectly soft, and the fillings (I chose shredded chicken) are tender and abundant. Another standout is the Carne Asada plate, featuring a flawlessly grilled steak, traditionally seasoned, and served with excellent rice, beans, and fresh guacamole.Service and ValueThe service at Casa Durango is attentive, friendly, and efficient. Water glasses never stayed empty for long, and our server was happy to offer thoughtful recommendations, clearly knowledgeable about the menu. Considering the high quality of the ingredients and the generous serving sizes, the value here is exceptional. You leave feeling satisfied without having broken the bank.Final VerdictCasa Durango succeeds where others fail by committing to authenticity and craftsmanship. If you're looking for genuine Mexican cooking in a lively, family-friendly setting, this is the place to be. It's easily one of the best spots in the area for satisfying, rich, and vibrant food.Rating: 4.8/5 Stars (Highly Recommended)

There's just a couple issues I have with it. One is their booth are falling in and their salsa is too hot for gringos. It's just hot and I think one of the things people enjoy about Mexican Restaurants is having some chips and salsa and my last little complaint is if there is a soccer game on the service is horrible. Actually, if the owner is a male, I think he was the one waiting on me. I had the fajitas that were very good without bell peppers and my friend had a quesadilla which is quite large with guacamole and sour cream.

This place is like a hidden gem! Nice ambience with a TV (for sports fans) and the food is really high quality. They have all day breakfast which I consider as a differentiator from other such restaurants. I love scrambled eggs with chorizo! There is also an egg twisting machine that my kid enjoyed it a lot (need to prepare quarters).

We just mivednti the East Highlands and have ordered takeout multiple times already from this quality restaurant. The burrito was great in lengua, carnitas ir carne asada. My friend lived his tacos and I was even able to irder him a takeaway margarita!!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this hole in the wall near me. I passed by this place everyday for over 8 years and never bother to try it until now. Although the sign is pretty noticeable, the place is pretty small and it's surrounded by many other big business that can overshadow it. We arrive around dinner time and was seated right away. We got some chips and salsa as we decide what to get for dinner. The chips was yummy and the salsa has a nice kick. We ended up getting the tostones with ceviche and plantains and the combo fajita. The tostones was a lot of food (as it's suppose to be a small dish). It is literally a fried plantain with a mountain of ceviche on top and there was 3 of them. I like the ceviche as the flavor was refreshing and it was light. The plantain was ok. The fajita was a combo of chicken, Shrimp and steak on a sizzling plate. It also came with rice, beans and guacamole on the side and tortilla.i love the charred taste of the meat and veggies, the side dish was ok. Everything was on the lighter side in term of seasoning. Price was pretty good for the portion. We basically got one Small appetizer and one main entree and it fed both of us. Service was standard. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

It's the last day of National Hispanic Heritage Month which is the perfect excuse for me to just go for Casa Durango's pescado frito. Yep, it's a whole entire tilapia deep fried, served with their signature seafood sauce, fresh pico de gallo, rice, beans, and tortillas. Definitely enough to feed two people. Unfortunately in my pandemic takeout order, they forgot to pack the seafood sauce so it was a little dry, but an amazing value nonetheless, and I have hot sauce in my fridge. And they have a ginormous fajita burrito! The burrito was stuffed with chicken (or steak), onions, peppers, mushrooms, beans, rice, and cheese, then topped with their burrito sauce, sour cream, guac, and pico de gallo. Go hungry because this will fill you up!

This place is one of those secret neighborhood gems that I don't easily fess up and share with others. But it's time to shed some light on it. I've been eating here on and off for many years now (10? maybe). They serve classic Mexican food with all your typical options. This is not an "upscale" or "creative" or Tex-Mex place. Their prices are excellent for the portion sizes that you get. 2 thumbs up. The quality has always been reliable, and a shrimp dish is not 3 or 4 pieces for $20; it's generous. The service is good, but not in-your-face attentive. The restaurant sit-down area is roomy and connected to a bar next door that is not readily visible from the restaurant. Sometimes servers disappear because they are also handling next door. Just be aware. Here's a funny tidbit. I've eaten here at all hours of the evening/night. Earlier in the evening during typical US dinner hours, then it's a quieter dinner atmosphere with, how do I say it in a PC way, maybe "typical Americans". If I arrive at 8:30 to 9 or later, then the party music from the bar drifts into the dining area, and a different set of diners arrive. I love knowing this is a legit Mexican restaurant! It's COVID-19 time, so it's takeout only. Hubby opted for the fajita steak burrito. It's huge and yummy. 5 stars! I ordered one of my usual dishes - Arroz con Camarones. Love this dish with its yummy sauce. 5 stars! Side note that there's an awesome grocery store next door called Carniceria La Chiquita. Check out its marinated meats!

For this visit I only did takeout, though I did get a chance to go inside with my friends as we were waiting for our orders. It's bright and extremely casual inside with ample seating, though nearly everyone that came in did takeout like we did. And there were people constantly coming in and out for the food here! Staff was quick in prepping everything and asking if we wanted extra sauce on the side. I got their carnitas plate, and as a takeout portions are huge here! Meat was flavorful, tender and savory; the jalapeños added a nice spice to the dish; and the extra sauces on the side added even more spice onto it that I enjoyed. The dish was wrapped well in a disposable aluminum plate and covered as well. This went for all of our orders, which included the burrito plate and taco salad. This place is easily one I'd come back to for Mexican food at a great price and quality!

Shortly after, a very kind gentleman brought us waters along with chips and salsa, which was appreciated. The chips were pretty standard Mexican restaurant chips--not my favorite. They tasted slightly greasy, even though they didn't appear to be. The salsa had good flavor but was quite thin. Our waitress greeted us within a reasonable amount of time, took our drink order, and returned with our drinks to take our food order. Since it was our first visit, we tried a few different items. I ordered the steak fajitas, which were flavorful and came with a generous amount of onions and peppers, many with a nice char (which I loved). The steak was tender and well seasoned. I do wish they offered the option to mix multiple proteins. I also ordered a ground beef hard-shell taco on the side, and it was great--the shell didn't taste stale like you often find at many Mexican restaurants. My dining partner enjoyed his meal as well. The only downside was the manager or owner standing near the computer station by the entrance for much of our visit, frequently watching the dining room. Since we were one of the first few tables, it felt a bit uncomfortable at times, even though I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Overall, this has quickly earned a top-two spot for Mexican restaurants in Renton for us. We'll definitely be back.
