The average rating says 4 1/2 and I think that's fair... Our server was very attentive and we got our food within about 8 minutes on a busy Tuesday afternoon. I got the Pollo de Casa which is grilled chicken, queso Blanco, beans, rice and tortillas. It was such a huge portion that I couldn't finish it. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quantity and quality. If you're a fan of El Vaquero or Los Mariachi's, you'll enjoy this place. We visited Casa del Sabor recently with a group of 9 people. The team got our table ready very quickly and our server took care of us extremely well. We were able to order fast and everything was delivered accurately. No-one had to wait for refills on chips, salsa, or sodas. The food was amazing. I stumbled upon this place after visiting an antique show in the area. This place has one thing I've never seen before and it is the only reason I go to Springfield anymore. The birria pizza. It's not so much a pizza as it is a pizza sized birria quesadilla. I always get it along with something new to try every time. This time I tried the tacos trio and shrimp tacos. They were okay. Previously, I tried the enchiladas, which were very good. The service was extremely fast and attentive, I felt like the President. It was also a typically nice Mexican-restaurant atmosphere. My sister says that this is the best Mexican restaurant in Springfield. I don't think she's been to Taco Bell. What they call the chili reallino is Awful. The absolute worst attempt at a chili reallino I've ever experienced. The worst chalupa I ever ate at Taco Bell was far better than the one I got today. I didn't see a chalupa on my plate so I told my server I ordered a chalupa my server said there it is we don't make them like Taco Bell. In my humble opinion they should learn how to. My sister gave me a sample of her chicken Quesadilla. It was far better than anything on my plate. The beans and rice were good. Perhaps had I not ordered a couple of my favorites from elsewhere, I would not have been so disappointed. The service was OK. Nothing spectacular. They told us it would be about a 30 to 45 min wait. The wait was 45 min. The resturant was beautifully decorated. I didn't appreciate that there were smokers sitting and smoking just outside the exit. I can't say I'll never go there again because I love my sister and that's where she likes to take me when I'm in town. I will say that given a choice I'd choose something different. Being someone that has had Mexican food in Houston and San Diego, in the US and Tijuana, Ensenada and Rosarita Mexico, I feel I know a little about what Mexican food. should be. I will say that the dinner combos that you create yourself were reasonably priced. I can't recommend this place based on 3 trips in 3 years. I really wanted to like it cause my sister likes it. My favorite Mexican Restaurant! The food is delicious. Always hot and tasty. A great menu with a variety of different choices. The service is excellent! The server's are very courteous and attentive. The atmosphere is pure Mexican. They also have a bar if you're interested in cocktails. I've eaten lunch and dinner there and found consistency with both. Going to be honest, the food was delicious, but the five star review is for the amazing service! Our server was polite, friendly, tentative, and just did an amazing job. You could tell he genuinely cared about his job. Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly, actually. The dining area was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time for being busy. They apologized for the long wait, which wasn't even necessary. We didn't think it took long at all. Our meals were hot and delicious. Guacamole was chunky and full of flavor! The salsa was a tad hot for my taste and I thought it needed some salt, but I can't take stars away for that. Some of the best Mexican in Springfield (Along with LosM for standard Mexican) The Pros: Great salsa - it really shows they care about ingredients. Fresh and herby. Tortillas also seem fairly fresh. All entrees I've received have been great! Some seem to stand out versus other local restaurants. If you are a fan of spicy food, I'd highly recommend the Alambre. Close to a steak fajita, but with bacon, cheese, and basically a whole jalapeño diced in. Delicious. Their fajitas and chimichangas are also great. Somewhat standard, but their fresh pico, salsa, and other ingredients definitely put Casa del Sabor above all other perhaps run of the mill Mexican restaurants in the area. Dine in service has always been exceptional. Overly friendly staff and quick service even with Covid. A good amount of seating is blocked off, but screens are in place and most booths are open. I did not see many tables for large groups over 4 as of this review. Delivery via Doordash is also good in general (see cons) The Cons: Doordash delivery has been good overall. Only a couple slightly wrong orders out of dozens. However, several charges for orders were received 3 days later for 'special requests'. Though maybe not the restaurants fault, it seems Doordash can actually charge you money after the fact for these special requests with no way to dispute. $4 for an extra spicy chimi that was just an added diced jalapeño is a big ridiculous. Just a friendly FYI. In regard to deliveries including Doordash, I feel that chips and salsa should be included with entree orders or maybe just large orders. They're free when dining in, right? I have travel in all of the states joining Mexico. One time I graded the corn husks for the Hot Tamales. I ordered Hot Tamales here and what I received was definitely not what I am use to. Let's call it a mystery meat . I had to ask what it was and the waiter said it was Hot Tamales. It was half raw, half hard roll of something with some kind of sauce on it.
