I stumbled across this location on a work trip, before realizing I had been to their sister store in New Jersey! This lounge has a really nice, and well stocked humidor. My favorite part was a nice end cap display with their stock of the Cogar Aficionado's top 25 cigars for the 2025 year. Plenty of cool display areas for buying your next new humidor, or an ashtray. I didn't get into the members only lounge, but would be interested. Also, there are plenty of TV's and comfy, plush, leather chairs to relax in while you burn one. My only negative for this location is a lack of a bar to serve a nice scotch or other whiskey while enjoying the smoke. But as this is not my regular location, no complaints. read more

We visited here a few times during our stay in Houston, definitely aist visit again. Large walk-in humidor, something for every pallet. The men working at the lounge were very helpful, casual, and patient. They made us feel like we were members, great conversations and recommendations. Came in with my wife while visiting Houston. We've been to the Casa de Montecristo in Dallas and really enjoyed that one. The humidor is huge! Great selection of cigars. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed talking with them and they made us feel welcome. Good selection of cigars: helpful staff. I've been a couple times over the past couple of years. If not for the traffic and construction in the area would go more often. Only gripe, and more with all similar places now, it's getting harder and harder to find cigars under $10. I smoke two cigars a week: like wine, you can go too cheap, but past $15 it's hard to say the price is worth it. I've found $8-$12 a good price point for most good cigars and a lot of the inventory is above that. However, highly recommend the place for their selection. read more

Yes I'm a fan. I don't generally give five stars. Okay parking - yes parking is good not a problem, every time I go regardless of the time I can find a spot. Service - great, these guys know their cigars and the selection is large and excellent. Pricing - I have a visited may cigar shops and they are in line with others I have visited. I typically get mine on line you can save a lot of money. Atmosphere - great atmosphere there are multiple ares you can light up. They have a membership as well that will give you 10% your puchchase if you join. Additionally they are typically running some kind of special buy 3 get one free. I did buy a membership which allows you 24/7 365 days a year access to the priviate smoking area. This area is perfect, TV's, large leather chairs, board game should you choose and BYOB that you can keep in the locker that comes with the membership. I personally keep a bottle of vodka. Ice and cups are provided. There are I believe three types of memberships the one with this access is $1k for a year. I stop in once sometimes twice a week after work to have a smoke. It is never crowded, many times I'm by myself or one maybe two other people relaxin having a smoke. read more

First time here so I wasn't sure what to expect. One of the Catadors was walking in with boxes but he still held the door open for me. I was well taken care off even though I explained to the salesman I'm new to cigars. I told him what I was looking for and his recommendations were spot on, even on the cigar cutter he sold me. I'm a newbie to cigars but still I was able to smoke both cigars and enjoy my Johnny Drum bourbon without feeling sick. Definitely will come back. Excellent atmosphere, great service. No LOUD music here, just simple comfy seating. I was visiting on business out of state. I first tried Davidoff (near the mall) I went to purchase a cigar and was told that only members could smoke there. One of the owners said that I can purchase a day pass, when I asked how much he told me $100!! This is what led me to Casa de Montecristo, these guys aren't trying to nickel and dime you, they're just there to facilitate an honest and chill relaxing experience. Great selection, odd lounge and unwelcoming staff. If you are looking to run in and buy a box this is your place. I was super disappointed by the staff. Here is a little hint for anyone who works retail, when there are four employees and one customer at register stop your conversation and say hello. Also I am in sales and have to manage my own RBF (resting b1tch face), if you employees have RBF ask them to force a smile or act friendly. The lounge looks like it was setup by Mr Spock for maximum distribution of customers. Terrible use of space if the goal is socializing. Any coffee shop or bar will have a better layout. It's not Serious Cigar's fault that the cigar vibe in H-Town is a flop, so I can't blame them for going with the flow. See, I'm from Cigar City, FL., a place that was once the cigar capital of the entire world. A place jam-packed with cigar shops and cigar lounges, and none of them are as boring as what I discovered in Houston. The atmosphere of cigar lounges here is a kin to a public library with people talking softly, reading books, wearing ear buds and with the televisions almost muted. Oh, and no libations??? The whole concept was foreign to me. Cigar lounges are supposed to be happening places to have fun, grab a whiskey (or beer) to pair up with your stogie and enjoy your smoke like you freakin' have a pair. But once you understand the difference in cigar culture here, step back and look at the shop for what and where it is, it's pretty good--hence the 4 star. Knowledgeable staff, expansive selection (smokes & accessories) and plenty of places to chill and enjoy your cigar. La Chica was hung over in the worst of ways, so it actually benefited her that the place was so placid. She plopped down in one of those comfy Montecristo chairs and made a full recovery by the time I finished my Texas Yellow Rose. read more

Serious Cigars was nice a few years ago - trust me when I say that it has gone downhill, and is now just a shadow of its former self. Service has always been a little surly, but now, most of their employees just don't even care. Don't be expected to be greeted here. And God forbid you need a cigar recommendation. The selection here is still awesome if you know what you want, but the humidor is not well maintained, so the quality of the cigars are suspect. My husband purchased several cigars here recently and they smoked like they were not consistently humidified. Definitely not acceptable considering the quality of product we used to be able to purchase here. Sure, the lounge may look nice and inviting, but there are many other cigar shops to patronize in Houston. Don't waste your time with this one. read more

Let me start by saying that I am a member... not a top tier member, but a member nonetheless. In the short time that I have been a member, I haven't felt like one. When I was given the tour, because you are given a tour when you inquire about the VIP lounge and membership... I was told that they no longer offer the 24 hour access, I would only be able to purchase the lower level membership due to the liquor license that they where applying for. I was also told that they would be changing the rules when it comes to the 24 hour access because of the liquor license and current members would no longer be able to stay pass business hours. As time went on... nothing changed with members staying after business hours. I was also told because of the liquor license that they are applying for, members that kept alcohol in their humidor lockers at the establishment , would no longer be able to keep liquor in their locker and... they would no longer be able to have liquor in the VIP lounge out in the open if it's in the original bottle or in a clear glass, everyone would have to pour their liquor in a Dixie cup. I was also informed about the 4 guest a month per member, now at the time... that rule wasn't being enforced by any personnel that worked at Casa de Montecristo. I love this place. It was the first cigar shop I tried in Houston and it's the one I've made MY store. Not only do they have the best selection by far, They have, at least what I think, is the best smoking lounge setup. It feels like someone's living room. Not, it's not the nicest furniture or the newest hi-def tv, but it's comfortable and relaxing. You go in and within 10 minutes you're engaged in a conversation with complete strangers. One thing I particularly like is it's sort of an unofficial men's club. Not that women aren't allowed, but it's one of the last bastions of masculinity, like the old barber shops and the neighborhood bar used to be (at least I think so.......I'm 26 so I'm taking other people at their word). My absolute favorite thing about Serious is that, once you become a regular, the place is like Cheers. Everyone knows your name. And it's easy to become a regular; just hang around enough to get to know people. I'm a regular, but I only buy 5 sticks here and there. If I buy a box, it's maybe once a year, but I still get treated the same as the guy that buys a box of Monte Cristos every month. They truly appreciate your business here, regardless of how much you spend. read more

I personally don't think there is a better cigar store in the Houston area. I have made a habit of going to Serious Cigars about once a week for the past few months. First off, they have good selection and a very nice walk-in humidor. The staff is top notch, very helpful and friendly! You think that in a specialty store that would be a given right? More often than not that you get little to no help and if you ask for some assistance, it is like speaking with a member of your IT department. You know, that holier than thou attitude.... Fortunately, you won't get any of that at Serious Cigars! The general feel of this place is really cool. They have a smoking lounge in the back with 2 TV's and leather chairs and sofas. Don't be afraid to hang out there and enjoy your cigar! Most if not all of their patrons are very friendly and will greet you when you walk back to the lounge. It's actually a really cool dynamic. May times I bring the laptop over there and try to knock out a little work on a day when I feel like not going into the office - just ask one of the employees for the code if you want to use their free Wi-Fi. I have been 1-2 cigars a month for about 10 years but have increased it to one every 3-4 days. I quit smoking cigarettes and this has been a huge help. Anyway, I use to work down the street from this place and decided to stop by. I knew there was a location on the northside as I was able to get some OpusX holiday pack a year or two ago but it was sent to me. They host these huge cigar events every year so keep an eye out for that. It is located next to a Pizza hut and when you walk in the very first thing you get is this incredible scent. To the left is a huge walk in humidor. They have lounge chairs around the shop and at the very back is the main lounge with a television and usually the aficionados smoke and chat. The humidor is really large and the staff is very accommodating. They have a lot of good stuff like the Opus lines, Padron anniversary, Don Diego, and my favorites: Hemingways. Go by there and check the place out and save yourself a few bucks for some good smokes. read more

THE WORST CIGAR STORE IN TOWN! I used to routinely visit this location due to the large, well stocked humidor and descent pipe tobacco selection until my last visit.... Serious has never had the friendliest, most knowledgeable staff, but nothing terrible until recently. I was touring the humidor to pick up a few cigars to accompany my pipe tobacco purchase and noticed some Viaje cigars with multiple beetle holes in them, every cigar in the jar! I notified the chubby Asian kid that was playing on his phone behind the counter, as usual and he replied "doesn't surprise me, those things have been here a while"! This is when I decided to abandon my purchase and move on. I sent a message to Serious through their website when I got home and weeks have elapsed with no response. I usually go to their location near the airport but one night I went in there and it was a bit loud for me with a DJ..not a knock but was not what I was looking for that night so I drove out to this location.
