I had the enchiladas which were very good. My friend enjoyed her tacos. We split some freshly made guacamole (nice). The same chef/owner has been at Casa de Leon for a long time. The waitresses are very attentive. The drink sizes are big. The ice tea is good. They keep their beer on ice. I like the coffee here as well. My co-worker occasionally treats our staff to their breakfast tacos! My review is based only on the breakfast tacos and not their service or etc. We've tried the barbacoa, potato and egg, chorizzo and egg, ham and egg, bacon and egg. They provide us a side of limes, onions, cilantro, and taco sauce. The flour tortillas are delicious, especially when they're hot. There are generous portions in each taco. My staff and I love these tacos! I'll definitely consider trying other items on their menu! read more

Been going to here for years up till recently. Food is inconsistency and the beef being used is not even graded meat. Fajita tacos are terrible everytime I've had it recently. I use to be excited introducing it to people but after seeing rats roam around during dining hours and how the quality of food has gone down the gutter I take no pride to say that if this restaurant continues to operate like this people will get sick. We came here on a whim on a Sunday, I was tired and didn't feel like cooking. I wanted some beef soup but at 8:30ish they were out for the day. So I settled for 3 beef tacos and my husband got a burrito and taco. The green sauce is very good, flavorful but it's got the kick you need, don't forget to squeeze some lime on there to give your mouth a little break. We'll come back for sure. Second time eating there. First time was pretty good. Second time, got fajitas mixed (chicken and beef). The last half of the beef was literally rotten. I almost puked at the table. I spit it into a napkin. I sampled another piece--same thing. I eat a lot of beef, and I cook a lot of beef. I know beef pretty well. It was spoiled when it was cooked. At the end of the meal, the waiter asked me how everything was--I politely explained the beef situation. I still got the bill for the full amount. I only spit the beef out after remembering that time 8 years ago that I had a raw oyster in my mouth I could tell was rotten from a different restaurant. I chose to eat it (considering the company at the table) rather than spit it out. I got food poisoning that time. Fever, puking, 10 hours out-of-service, the whole nine yards. Anyway, one shouldn't be considering the odds of food poisoning (based on rotten taste) while paying for food. The guacamole was top-notch for sure. But I'll never go back. My table was dirty when I sat down and I thought about leaving. I normally get up (once a year) if I sit down at a dirty, sticky table (crumbs stuck to my arm and there were weird sticky wet spots). The place is the favorite after workout destination for the climbers at the Texas Rock Gym located a few blocks away. If it's your first time, and you came with a hearty appetite, I would whole heartily suggest the Burrito (or as I like to call it - the Baby - as it's the size of a small child). This is a good, inexpensive, hole in the wall for Mexican food in Spring Branch, my wife and I ran into this place accidentally, we were driving through Spring Branch but could not decide where to stop, we almost missed it but caught it from the corner of our eyes. The staff and owners are very friendly, you will often see the owners serving you and making sure you are being tended to adequately. The owners are from Jalisco, my wife's home state, the food is not necessarily traditional from there, its more of a Houston Mexican style, but its good. As far as the decor of the place it is just a hole in the wall, you will know when you see it. Two things I really like about the place are the Emiliano Zapata painting on the wall, and the currency taped to the wall behind the cashier. Our favorite plates here are the green chilaquiles for breakfast and huaraches for lunch or dinner; but my personal favorite on a Saturday or Sunday morning is the menudo. This is how I order it: Large menudo no hominy, coffee, and a barbacoa taco on the side, flour tortillas all the way. The tripe is cooked just at the right tenderness and it is quite plentiful. The broth is just right, not too overwhelming on any one ingredient, but I must emphasize, a real menudo lover does not, i repeat, DOES NOT put hominy in their menudo, that's just a scheme to put less tripe in your plate, more cost efficient. read more

First and last time I will be visiting! Although the food was edible, overall greasy and bland, not close to authentic Mexican. But that is not the worst part - never in my my life have I ordered alambres, which are typically char or pan grilled and received deep fried meat on a stick!!!! We asked the server who confirmed to us that yes, the alambre is prepared by first deep frying then it is put on the grill. What was supposed to be "authentic" Mexican food, tuned out to be closer to drive thru fare. Saw this place recently and wanted to try it. I had to have a tire replaced at Discount Tire right next door so even though I wasn't that hungry, I took the opportunity to walk in. They do have margaritas on the rocks so I ordered one--can't recommend! But when I said I didn't like it (clearly a mix) and ordered a beer instead, they removed it from my tab which I appreciate. I ordered nachos with beef fajita meat and asked for guacamole on top. The plate was far larger than I expected and the flavor was really good. Guacamole was very fresh.
