This gem is tucked into an industrial area, but you'll be happy once you have found its hiding spot. The last time we visited, we were in more of a celebratory mood and feasted on whole fried fish and a molcajete filled with an assortment of meat, seafood, and cactus. This time, we were in a bit of a rush, so we ordered tacos. Started off with guacamole and chips. Guac is very fresh and they mix in a little tomato to brighten things. Tried the Tacos Baja - both the shrimp and the fish version. These come with a heaping amount of filling and two tortillas- you can easily make two normal sized tacos with one taco. Nice crispy batter and well seasoned with an orange crema you can drizzle on top. Also tried the Tacos Gobernador. Sounds like something Arnold Schwarzenegger would order. These are super cheesy and shrimp filled. They're really good but it's a heavy meal. Everything we've had here has been delicious and I love how wide and varied the menu is. Highly recommend.

We ordered the crab boil with shrimp, sausage and crab and corn and white rice There was very little, thinly sliced sausage in the bag. We didn't get the corn, instead she gave us potatoes. My son is type 1 diabetic. Potatoes are not good for him to eat. She brought the corn on the side. Which was fine. The rice was not white rice. It was good rice. It had a few veggies in the rice, it was good. It's wasn't what I ordered and that type of rice doesn't go with the meal. I think the flavor of the crab boil was most disappointing. The flavor wasn't very good. I thought it was more salty than flavorful. I haven't tried other things on the menu. So maybe the other food they serve is better. Idk.

Quiet lunch spot that l love to stop into a few times a month…read more I like their super vegetarian burritos with jalapeños...fresh and tasty Mexican food. My go to lunch items ate nachos and burritos If I'm eating in then I may order a Chile rellano a la carte. Staff are very friendly. I remember one day I called ahead but when I got there I had forgot my wallet, I switched purses the day before. I was starving and the lady that rang me up actually paid for my burrito our of her tips! I went back the next day to pay her back and gave her a top the price of my lunch!

There has been a Mexican restaurant at this location ever since I've been going to Modesto in 2008…read more This is my first time back since 2019 - is it the same place? I don't know, but it's definitely similar. Two things that were different - I used to love the chips here. This time they were really stale. We had a late lunch, around 2:30, but that doesn't explain it unless they just left them out from the morning. We've bought freshly fried tortilla chips before and they were still tasty after a few days if they were stored correctly. Not a big deal - but they used to have Jarritos and now they sell Mundet. I had an apple soda - still delicious. Food - One fellow Yelper said they loved the molcajete and described it in a way that my mouth had started watering already. Unfortunately, the waitress informed me that there is no molcajete at this location. The backup plan was the carnitas plate. Carnitas were great - nice and crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. The corn tortillas are made fresh and that really helps make the dish. I'd recommend getting this and some guacamole on the side. The plate comes with a little, but made me crave for some more.

The food is…read moreconsistently good, the drinks are solid, and they easily have the best chips and salsa around. Service is always friendly and reliable, which keeps me coming back. My only real recommendation is to avoid sitting in the bar area if you're in a hurry. Service there tends to move a lot slower, so it can take a while to get your order in and get your food. The restaurant itself is a little run down, and the bathrooms could definitely use some attention, but the bar and outside area is decorated nicely and has a good atmosphere overall. All in all, it's a great local spot and one I keep going back to.

Unfortunately, this was a really disheartening experience…read more We waited over an hour for our food, and when it finally came out there was an issue with the size of the menudo bowl that had been offered to us. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or make it right, the manager, Noah, became argumentative and tried to debate what had been said rather than listen to the customer. After waiting that long, the last thing anyone expects is to feel like they have to argue just to be heard. What made it more disappointing was the lack of willingness to fix the issue or offer a solution. We came in hoping for a good meal and left feeling frustrated and unheard. It's sad because good service could have easily turned this into a positive experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. At the end of it he realized and came back and finally apologized.
