Friends of ours had told us about this place a year ago and really enjoyed it. Plus with so many positive reviews we figured we would change up from our usual local Italian restaurants. Sadly, the restaurant didn't live up to the hype or quality of reviews that have been posted. We arrived for our reservation a few minutes early and were promptly seated at one of the booths. The lightning isn't the greatest and with dark menus it is tough to even read the menu. We really didn't need the reservation as only the booths had customers. So, the restaurant was about 30% capacity. After about ten minutes someone finally comes to the table to take a beverage order. No introduction, name etc,obviously no specials etc. So after about another ten minutes we finally get our beverages and place our orders. My wife orders the eggplant rolletini and I order the chicken marsala with penne. One of the reasons we decided to come here was they offered eggplant rolletini. My wife loves to order this and there are only a handful of places locally that serve it. So after about ten more minutes our salads arrive. It looks like they dropped some lettuce with a couple grape tomato onto a plate with dressing. Finally our entrees arrive. My Marsala doesn't look the greatest, ( sadly I didn't bring my phone to take pictures)..Literally whoever did the salad must have plated the entree. Imagine no color chicken breasts on top of penne pasta sitting in a bath of Marsala? There was absolutely no reduction in the sauce to provide that great Marsala flavor. My wife rolletini, was very thin with only a a thin strand of eggplant in the pasta. Most of the rolletini was ricotta, very disappointed. We ended up ordering cannoli to take home in the hope that maybe that would be good. The cannolis were ok. As you can see by the picture, it wasn't filled completely and had more of a mascarpone taste then as blend of ricotta and mascarpone. We added the chocolate pieces. So overall, I'd really give them 2.5. Maybe it's their pizza that's getting all the great reviews. But for us, it just didn't work and there are a lot of better places to dine at in the Murrells Inlet/Surfside Beach area. read more

Used to be my "go to"fav. Ordered chicken Sorrento with spaghetti for my pasta. Was told they cannot do spaghetti for the pasta even tho I've gotten it many times before and it is an option on the kids menu. My dish came out with the entree along with linguini and under it was what looked and tasted like a huge puddle of water with a tinge of tomato sauce. Absolutely horrible. There wasn't a bit of sauce on the food because it was so watery it all went to the bottom. The entire meal was tasteless. Also they changed to bread and it's just not as good. read more

Last year it was a favorite local restaurant. However, I may be wrong but seems it has undergone a management and staffing change. Language with the server seemed to be an issue. Prices were very high and service was low. Food quality was very good. Won't be back anymore. read more

Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. A little loud as it got busy but what do you expect. Portions were ok, could be bigger on entrees.

We just arrived at Myrtle Beach and I yelped this place up.. Great Italian menu. Patrons were streaming in and out and we got a table quickly. Friendly, efficient service. The food was amazing! It was the closest authentic Italian we have ever had. The service was top notch, and the decor and ambiance was perfect! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a great Italian surprise. We stopped in for the first time on Tuesday. I was very surprised. Nice spot. Good menu. We just went in to split a pizza and a ceasar salad. Both very good. We got the veggie pizza. Nice fresh vegetables and plenty of them. The crust had a lot of flavor and supported the toppings well. No big flop. The salad was great. Good dressing. Food excellent and large portions. Staff friendly and efficient-The cook even came around to ask how the food was. The hot Italian bread dipped in butter/ olive oil was outstanding. The place was clean and ample parking. Best Italian around and large menu. This used to be our go to Italian but, tonight I ordered the spaghetti I have always got and they served me sauce over linguine noodles. I asked why and was informed that they no longer serve spaghetti noodles. But it is still on the menu. I just do not like linguine noodles. And the sauce was not the same as usual. Not sure if they had an off night, but, they were not concerned with my complaints at all. Oh well. read more

Friday around 530pm I gave Casa Calamari a call to see they could handle a party of four and they were able to get us in for dinner. I was little nervous it being Friday and all, but when we arrived it was busy but not packed. It should be packed. We were seated promptly and the staff was great. Ordered and served drinks promptly and it only got better from there. Fried calamari appetizer was delicious. We had a decent salad fresh as could be. My dressing was a house balsamic that I really liked. It wasn't huge but ample in size. Garlic Bread was served warm with oil and cheese. I had chicken Brooklyn (boneless breast with a delicious fresh style sauce)over linguine. There was an encrusted salmon over zucchini noodles with a dill sauce. Eggplant parm and a chicken Marsala dish for the rest of the crew. Talk during dinner was sparse except for the occasional "this is delicious " or "I'm glad we came here ". This is a place I'll try to get back to when visiting Myrtle Beach. Great food with reasonable prices. Try it for yourself. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Gabriella was our waitress and she made the best old fashion that I have had from a restaurant. I got the Greek salad that was very good. The bread that came out was amazing. Loved the garlic, oil, and red pepper flakes for dipping. We also got the Stromboli which was very good. We plan on going back soon to try the Spaghetti and Pizza. read more

Well first in fairness, Mother's Day is busy,,,really busy. I have always liked going here and have never been disappointed by the food or service, but this was not a good experience and that is being kind. My friend and I sat at the bar, and it took 15 minutes to get a drink. Wine had been spilled over the wine glass and bottom, and went all over my new shirt and pink jacket when she passed it over to me. We saw her spill it, but I assumed she had wiped it off before handing it to me. Not the case. We waited for a very, very long time for the main course and realized she must have forgotten to put in our order. When we finally got our meal, the pasta was not even cooked, The bill was $104 without the tip. I felt badly for the bartender as she clearly needed a second person on such a busy night, but there is no excuse really. So blouse and jacket about $90 loss and the stains won't come out even with white wine, club soda and other spot stain cleaners. Will I ever go back after doing so multiple times for several years...probably not. read more

I never complain but this experience and food was probably the worst I have ever had. Bruschetta bread was hard as a rock on a Texas toast bread that looked like grocery store bought. Both me and wife's entrees tasted like cardboard! This food is premium prices for not even standard quality. We are locals and spend a lot of money on great food. This was BAD! I never complain and have never left a review before, this should tell you everything! I feel that the cook should have came out to discuss this with us. We were basically told "have a nice night". Food was different recently in April 2023 no chunks of fresh cooked garlic in their sauce for the calamari. We have a vacation home right across the street from Casa Calamari and have ordered takeout from here many times. This past week we decided to have dinner in the restaurant and we were so glad that we did! We were immediately greeted and sat in a nice booth/table in the main dining room. Our waitress came over quickly as well, greeted us with a smile and took our drink order. She was serving a few tables but let us know that she would be right with us. Hubby always likes to get recommendations and she was more than willing to walk us through her favorites as well as popular customer dishes. I love lasagna so when she mentioned that it was delicious I was SOLD! The dinners come with salad and warm garlic bread which both were fantastic. This is a little hidden gem which we will make sure to visit again before we head home. read more

Liked the honey feel, we were waited in quickly even though they were busy, tried the cavatelli with broccoli and sausage. It has a garlic olive oil sauce. Cavatelli was cooked well and not gummy . Sauce was tasty, broccoli was crisp and not over cooked. They bread with garlic and cheese an oil and some red pepper flake is very tasty, only suggestion I have is maybe do the oil in a separate bowl so people can control the amount of oil on their bread. We had a nice dinner here. It was our server's first time and he did great. It's a little noisy because of the echo chamber effect but otherwise comfortable layout. The bread and oil was excellent! Accompanying salads were your average side salad. Crab ravioli was very good. Veal Sorrentino was okay. It was tender but I don't think the wine reduction sauce did it well. As a starter we ordered the Calamari, it was not as good as expected (As you can see...presentation was not so great and the rings were awful). I'm a big Calamari fan and was so disappointed. For an entree My fiancé ordered the red clam sauce with linguine and it was watery and tasteless terrible choice. He ended up sharing with me but I can say the Shrimp scampi was delicious! On our last night of Christmas vacation in Myrtle Beach, we gambled and decided to try take-out from a place other than our usual go-to pizza place, and unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. Our family narrowed our options down to three local places based specifically on photos and reviews. My husband drove over and picked up the pizza (a three minute drive), and you can see in the photo that what we got looked nothing like the photo I found in another review. I know that we ordered a plain cheese pizza and the ones shown here have toppings, but wouldn't you think they'd be fairly similar? Ours was dry, flat and tasteless with oily cheese--we are a family of four with two teenage boys, and no one even wanted these last two slices. Bottom line--perhaps some people get delicious pizza from Casa Calamari, but that night, it wasn't us, and we won't be ordering from here again. :( read more

We wanted pizza but didn't want to drive far from the camp site. First we were skeptical because there wasn't many people. On the other hand it was perfect due to not wanting to be around crowds of people. We got a large table in the corner and it was perfect. The food was hot and freshly made. We ordered mozzarella sticks, calamari, and wings as our appetizers. Didn't take long at all to get our drinks and appetizers. As soon as we finished up she promptly took all our dirty dishes filled and filled our glasses. We didn't wait long and out meals were coming out.
