We don't eat a lot of Mexican food, it's hard to find in my small hometown. The food here was so good we came back for more during our visit! Friendly staff, Mariachi band was a pleasant addition, the salsa was excellent, and the food was delicious! Hubby had to try the green chili during our first visit, it was tasty and delicious. During our next visit we both ordered the soft Chili Rellenos and chicken enchilada. The Chili Rellenos are so good we ordered enough to take home for leftovers. read more

Took a while to get a server. We were ok waiting though, since they set the expectation they are short staffed. Food came out pretty quick. Menu was a bit pricy for us, so we stuck with the street tacos. Street tacos were pretty good, but we were confused because they were served with lettuce and an orange slice, and no salsa. We are from Texas so I guess we have a different expectation but we didn't expect this at all. For Salida, this is a fair place to eat though and we really don't have any complaints but we weren't blown away by any means read more

If yelp had an option to give 6 stars I would... I've never written a yelp review before but this establishment was so incredible I had to. Not only was the food amazing but the service was top notch as well. Ambiance gets a 10/10 as well - music was at just the right volume and the decor was authentic. My wife and I got the beef fajitas and they were the best fajitas both of us have ever had. The meat was marinated and seasoned to perfection and there was plenty. The flour tortillas, guacamole, sour cream, pico, rice, and beans all combined to make a dream team better than MJ and the '97 Chicago Bulls. We finished the evening with warm, crispy, fluffy sopapillas that were incredibly tasty. Chef's kiss, well done Casa Calaca. If you are in Salida, CO for any reason do yourself a favor and stop here. read more

Large restaurant with fast, friendly service! Clean, decorated very interestingly and great music. The salsa that comes with the chips is outstanding! We were visiting from out of town and didn't know where to go, but would come here again. They claim they have the 'best margaritas' in Salida, and they aren't lying! They actually put alcohol in them which no other restaurant does it seems! The food is your average MexicanAmerican style Mexican, but hot, fresh and delicious. This is a great choice. Friendly and helpful staff provides great service. But the food -- wow! I started with a great margarita -- top shelf ingredients for $13. Then I had the Burrito Loco -- probably the best burrito I've ever had. It had grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and peppers, covered with queso with guacamole and pico gallo on the side. Delicious! Guy on phone couldn't tell me how to order tacos, I ordered 3 tacos over the phone since they have no website listed and I couldn't see there menu.... literally asked for 3 street tacos, steak, and 2 chicken, couldn't give me a price, starting yelling at his co workers that a STUPID Fu*cking GRINGO is asking, like what's the issue dude? I've worked as a bartender and waitress for 10 years in a resort town, I get it, but I was not being dumb in the least? ...you were & you probably shouldn't be in the service industry if you can't handle something so simple. Then you called me back... and I started saying I'm not going to support your business with that mouth and hung up! Ha, wtf..... Was pretty good sw Mexican food with a couple of choices no normally found. My 4 stars are because I found it to be a bit pricey.

First time in Salida and saw this place on yelp but we were skeptical to try due to only having a few reviews, but we decided why not! Found out the few reviews were due to it only being open since 2022, but wow were we impressed the second we walked in. As soon as we sat down, we were immediately greeted with chips and salsa (that were great). We ordered some Chile con queso that came with different tortilla chips that were nice and fluffy (that we LOVED). The entrees were also VERY VERY good. There was not one bad thing about this place. 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area! read more

Came here while on vacation. Service and food were great. I threw a fit (quietly and to wife, who rolled her eyes at me) when they didn't split tabs (no splitting for groups greater than 4) and didn't take Amex. But, I've felt guilty about it ever since. Every time we visit Salida we have to stop here. Their food is delicious, the service is top notch, and the restaurant is clean and colorful. The decor is an interesting concept, celebrating the Day of the Dead with colorful skeletons and sugar skull-type pictures. The staff is friendly and attentive. Their queso is the best around and they include fresh homemade tortilla chips that were crispy, light, and wonderful. I try something different each time we go and I've never been disappointed. The only negative thing I can think of to say is they use paper straws (yuck!). But all things considered, if that's the only negative I suppose I can live with that. Do yourselves a favor and EAT HERE! The environment is colorful and fun, the food is delicious, you WON'T be sorry! read more

Taco Tuesday! Tacos made the way they're supposed to be, real corn tortillas fried to order not packaged Taco Bell shells or reheated precooked soft tortillas. Stuffed with fresh ingredients, queso and tomatoey shredded beef (is there any other kind of filling?) They were jam packed our last visit and still whipping the food out.
