Great location and good vibes. The employees were so nice. The margarita was STRONG and tasty. I loved the garlic mushroom appetizer. Mushrooms smothered in garlic with avocado and herb butter for dipping. So glad I didn't have to share. I also liked the salsa which had charred bits in it for more depth. read more

Phenomenal Mexican food! Family owned and run, which shows the pride they put into every dish! Working with only family members due to staffing shortages, the service was great and friendly! Enjoyed the Enchilada Grande and the combination meal, which were both huge portions and very tasty. The watermelon margaritas were top-notch! Looking forward to another visit soon! read more

The BEST Mexican food and BEST margaritas in Salida. Get away from the tourist traps on the highway and get into town where this family run place will wow you. GIANT portions, bang for your buck - owner is the chef and he cares. Kids and wife run the front. They care more! Our favorites are the tacos- pork or carnita, burritos enchiladas are so good, quesadillas -all good, fajitas so big and yummy too- and get the skinny margaritas as they make them big and with fresh lime juice. You can also call in AM to order big carry out orders to bring home. Love this place! read more

We live out of state and have returned to this spot 3 times! Zef our server hit it out of the ballpark last summer with his own special margarita recipe and his warm, welcoming vibe! This time around we received great food and drink recommendations. I'm pescatarian so judge Mexican restaurants by their refried beans, salsa and margaritas- 3 out of 3 here! I especially enjoyed my Skinny Sunset margarita and my partner loved the frosty mug that came with his beer. All of our food was delicious! read more

We ate here last time while visiting Salida, on a recommendation from the Mountain Goat Lodge. We opted to sit on the tiny but quaint patio as weather was ideal. We ordered margaritas (of course) and they brought chips and salsa along with the Mexican cabbage-slaw, which is my favorite and not many Mexican restaurants have it. Our dinner was delicious and our server and assisting staff were great! read more

On a busy weekend we were able to get seated quickly. The menu is fairly comprehensive without being huge. Our server was great, especially when he had to explain that they couldn't take credit cards, due to an internet issue (which was affecting all of town). Our meals were served quickly and were well prepared and delicious. The margarita was perfect, not too sweet. They even comped our dessert, thanks to my wife's birthday. We will happily return! read more

My husband and I had dinner here after a long day of traveling. We were greeted by a polite young man who explained this was his mom and dad's restaurant and he works there too. We were seated and greeted warmly by the owner and mom. She immediately brought us chips, homemade salsa and a Mexican slaw. I ordered the pollo mole , and my husband ordered chicken enchiladas. Both meals were amazing and filled with flavorful spices. The mole sauce was the best I've ever had! My dish came with rice, refried brand, and a small salad. The portion was so generous that my to go portion was my dinner the following night. Same with my husband's enchiladas. I also had a skinny margarita that was delicious and large serving. Finally, the decor and artwork throughout the restaurant is beautiful and adds to the delightful atmosphere. This is my second visit to Carmelita's, and I highly recommend it for a pleasurable, affordable dining experience. read more

I would give this 4.5 stars if I could but prefer to round up. Huge portions and great prices, friendly service, and cute decor. The food was alright (except the fantastic queso) but the value was truly incredible. We had a giant three item plate for only $14! And the queso with deep deep deeply fried tortilla chips were delish read more

Wow, I am so glad we parked right across las camelinas! If your looking for good food and a great experience definitely check out Las Camelinas! We were hesitant at first but as soon as we entered we saw a burst of colors and beautiful Mexican art and designed tables. We were sat pretty quickly and welcomed with a delicious bowl tortilla chips, salsa, and Mexican coleslaw! I could not get enough of them! I had two bowls and wanted another one but I had to make room for my meal! I appreciated that the menu had a variety of options for every budget. The kids' options were also reasonably priced and pretty big. I personally went with the seafood chimichanga and it was huge and delicious. I was so full but I could not put my fork down. That is how you know it's the bomb.com! The service definitely enhanced our experience. The staff was super friendly and they were happy to bring more chips, salsa, and sides. Overall, Las Camelinas offers a beautiful space to enjoy authentic Mexican food and art! read more

Outstanding everything!! They were so sweet, the food was over the top delicious. So much flavor and I could tell a lot of care went in to everything we had. We absolutely loved this place. Authentic Mexican food and it was great in big portions. Oh, and make sure you get a skinny margarita. They are made with fresh squeezed limes and not all those added sugars. The service was great too, Family owned and you can tell they all care about their customers. I'm from Texas where there are plenty of Mexican restaurants and I give them a full 5 stars. read more

We shared the tacos to save room for desert and it was the perfect amount of food. The steak was juicy and the rice and beans were flavorful. I've never had a Tres Leches cake before but it'll be hard to top this one, it was so delicious, like ice cream and cake combined. Service was as excellent as the food. read more

I was immediately thrown off by the decor. It felt dirty. We were served half a bowl of salsa with stale chips along with a mysterious bowl of what seemed like 3 day old coleslaw. I ordered the beef fajitas and was confused. The beef seemed more like the excess scrapings off of a cast iron skillet. It had a very chorizo like taste mixed with grease. The rice was mushy and seemed more like Chinese than Mexican. The two redeeming aspects for Las Camelinas was our waiter, and the taco bowl that I assume was store bought. Will not be coming back. read more

I gave this place three tries and each time it was a waste of money. I get very suspicious when all the food on my plate is brown. You can practically taste the can opener for the sauces. Nothing was fresh. I wouldn't go here if it was free. Sorry I have to give bad reviews because I like to support locals but I also feel ripped off for paying for this food. The one good thing is the decor. It is fun and festive and that was the draw. read more

Great authentic Mexican food in the middle of Colorado!! We visited for lunch greeted & seated promptly. Started off with a pineapple margarita, chips & queso. The margarita was huge, fresh, and strong. Our meals were Ma Maria enchiladas & a beef chimichanga. Huge portions, in house made guacamole, even the beans and rice were seasoned and delicious. This jewel is definitely worth the trip if in downtown Salida. read more

Epic meal today at las camelinas. We walked in and it was empty so we were a bit worried. But great find in the end! Our waitress, Gaby (sp?) Was super nice and attentive. Great service all around. Most of us (7 guys) ordered combination plates and one person ordered the carne asada tacos. Everyone loved their meals. The biggest combo included a choice of 3 from the list of burrito, taco, chimi, enchelada, and various other Mexican delicacies, and each one had a choice of meat. Mix and match! Love it. The plates of food were huge because the combos came with rice and beans. Delicious across the board. The meat taste like it was slow cooked and the veggies fresh as can be. The tortillas also tasted homemade, but maybe that's just because we were hungry. The carne asada was tender and flavorful. The margheritas were just Ok. I got frozen, and others seemed to like rocks ones more. Overall solid experience. Would definitely go back. read more
