This restaurant is decorated beautifully and the staff are very friendly. The chips and salsa are so good. Very fresh. I got the tacos costeños: shrimp, octopus and fish. To fulfill my craving of Mexican food, I decided to DoorDash my food since I couldn't leave my home. I've never eaten at or ordered from Casa Agave before; however, after consulting Yelp and seeing that it had good reviews, I decided to give them a try. I ordered a carne asada wet burrito, which was absolutely delicious! It was well seasoned and full of flavor. It definitely satisfied my craving. Hector the owner stated that they are a small family business and essentially, whether or not you like the meal or drink, you will pay for it...no exchanges or returns. I see on the one star reviews that the owner takes no accountability and projects the complaint back onto the dissatisfied customers with an AI directed response so I'll wait for it. There are many other Mexican dining establishments (La Cabana, Gorditos, El Tapatio) that show this restaurant up by quality (flavor, authenticity, presentation) substantial quantity and value. Friendly smiles, attentiveness and service goes a long way with keeping the customers happy and satisfied so they'll return along with referring friends, colleagues and family! This is our new favorite go-to spot for authentic Mexican food in Fairfield! The restaurant itself is small and unassuming, but the food and drinks are top notch! It can only be described as real Mexican comfort food! So fresh and flavorful. My favorite is the enchilada verdes and they don't skimp on meat, cheese, or sauce. Came out to Casa Agave for dinner on a Friday night with my husband and two kids. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Upon entering, several employees looked at us but didn't greet or acknowledge us. I had to initiate and ask if we could seat ourselves, at which point someone from the bar finally told us we could choose a table. After being seated, our waitress brought menus but was unresponsive after that, we had to flag her down after 20 minutes just to place our order. While we were given complimentary chips, salsa, and a small bowl of refried beans, it didn't make up for what followed. We waited 45 minutes for our food, only to find out that the waitress had only placed part of our order. This meant my kids didn't receive their meals until nearly an hour after we arrived, which was incredibly frustrating. I understand restaurants can get busy, especially on weekends, but the lack of communication, slow service, and mistake with our order made this a disappointing visit. I just went in for an early Cinco De Mayo lunch and it was delicious! This is my first visit and I ordered the Chilaquiles w/Chicken, whole beans (I don't eat pork) and red sauce and it was so good! I have to say, I have had many versions of Chile Verde, but this one was one of my favs. Large chunks of lean pork, atop stewed chile verde with shredded pork. I have never seen that presentation before. Delicious! Def top 5 for me. Hubby ordered Steak Ranchero and was very happy with his choice. I also ordered the guacamole. Mold Anyone?!? I'm genuinely disappointed I have to write this review. I've been to this restaurant 3 times now and the first two experience were good. Food came out in a timely manner, the drinks were great, and the waitstaff have always been really kind. But there is nothing worse to me in a restaurant than RUDE and DISMISSIVE Owner! Refusing to ever come back to this establishment! It all started with my ordering the 3 Seafood Tacos I take responsibility for not asking the server if the tacos would have anything spicy on them, it is a Mexican restaurant afterall. And when it arrived I asked if the Sauce was spicy and the sever was quick and kind enough to take my plate back and have it remade without the sauce on-top since it was spicy.The second time it came out she even brought pico de gallo on the side just in case I wanted it and that might be too spicy. She was timid but lovely. I had finished my first two tacos, and was getting full so opted to eat the protein ontop and leave the tortillas for the last one and to my surprise I found These spots on there that to me look very Similar to mold I have seen grow on my own bread and tortillas at home!! I informed the waitress and she took the plate to the back with the tortillas. When she came back out later she told me she was going to comp the meal for me, but I was still concerned for my health and safety so I asked if I could speak to owner about this. She went to go retrieve the owner and I was in shock when she said He can't see you. I asked why that might be and she went back there again. This time she responded with he's busy washing dishes. I said that's not a valid excuse to not to see a concerned customer, tell him I don't mind waiting. At this point I was pissed. I looked around the restaurant and there was no one else there besides a party of 4 who already had their food and One guy sitting at the bar. Otherwise the entire place was empty. When the owner finally shows up he has a blank look on his face and was extremely dismissive and rude. When he came out he immediately was negative and asked what was a matter, as if I was in the wrong. To which I said if you're comping my meal and the sever has gone multiple times to speak to you about this why are you coming up to me asking what is wrong? Were you not already informed of the situation? To which he goes into his explanation about what could have caused the tortilla to have that coloring, and ends with I don't have time for this I need to go wash dishes. To which I respond You need to learn basic customer service, if you had this explanation all along you could have come out apologetically, explained it's a misunderstanding without me needing to make the poor server uncomfortable having to ask for you multiple times. To which he says this isn't the first time someone has said something about the tortillas, and he's discounting the meal and walks away in a huff. But if you are a responsible owner and see an ongoing situation, maybe you should rethink what you are doing? I am not worried about the price of the meal, I'm more worried I could have consumed something that could adversely affect my health!! I haven't felt completely right since that meal. Mold is no joke! And to not come out and apologize for a disgusting discovery such as mold isn't tolerable. I don't buy his explanation, I don't appreciate the attitude, and I find it highly unprofessional That I even had to ask for the owner. you should have immediately by default as the owner come out and apologize without needing to be asked. The restaurant is found in Downtown Fairfield. I went on a Sunday for lunch and it wasn't crazy busy. The server was nice and they give you complimentary chips and salsa. The salsas they gave were flavorful and not very spicy, just a little kick. I got the fajitas mixtecas, which came with shrimp, beef, and chicken. I enjoyed all of the protein but my favorites were the beef and shrimp. The meal also comes with everything shown in the picture: rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortillas. The person writing this wasn't just rude during the visit they've now doubled down publicly with a tone that's smug, dismissive, and defensive. But readers should know your version leaves out the condescension, the passive-aggressiveness, and the clear double standards we experienced. And to be clear: my concern wasn't about a child sitting at the bar. It was about how we were spoken to, how we were treated differently than other patrons, and how you went out of your way to make us uncomfortable. The fact that you've used this space to accuse me of misrepresentation, "weaponization," and even disrespect is astonishing and very telling. This place is a cozy, vibrant spot to grab dinner and a few drinks. I loved their bar area and the servers are pleasant. I have a few notes though. When they brought us over our napkins, utensils, chips and salsa, first I noticed two of our napkins were dirty? It had dried food on them and that was kind of gross. I asked for the guava flavored Jarrito and when he brought it over it looked good... but when I tried it I was so disappointed that it tasted like carbonated water. I couldn't taste the guava flavor and I didn't taste the alcohol in it, not even a little bit. For food, I ordered the chicken fajitas. It came with sides of refried beans, red rice, guacamole and pico de gallo. The sides were great and fajita sauce was tasty. Personally this dish was good and I would order it again. One thing I did notice is that since we got carried away talking the server was trying to pick up dishes to clear the table, when we weren't quite finished eating... I didn't really like that because they wouldn't really ask beforehand and when they did it was evident we still had our plates half full and were not done. Price wise it's reasonable, I went with 3 other people and our total bill was $148 split evenly it was about $37 per person. Overall the place is clean with a few crumbs and spills on their floors below the tables, they definitely should wash their napkins more thoroughly and maybe next time I will stick to a drink off their menu. read more

What an absolute hidden gem. I might have just found my new favorite authentic Mexican restaurant. They serve you chips and salsa to start and the salsa was extremely well done. I wasn't planning to gorge on chips, but I couldn't help myself due to the salsa being so delicious. This is a cute new restaurant in Fairfield downtown. The place is very clean and nice decorated. When we arrived at noon there were only 2-3 other tables occupied. The service was friendly and prompt. We ordered the nachos con carne and the enchiladas Jalisco. Both were excellent and both plates were enormous. We literally ate about half of the nachos and 1/3 of the enchiladas before asking for boxes. All of the food tasted fresh and homemade. The carnitas were especially tender and flavor.
