Jaz is an incredible bartender--friendly, talented, and always serving up delicious drinks with a smile. She knows how to keep the energy fun and makes sure every guest has a great experience. Kanisha, the manager, deserves recognition as well. She's welcoming, attentive, and does an outstanding job leading her team. Great leadership shows, and it definitely reflects in the exceptional service throughout the bar. Came here for Friday night cocktails with the girls as we were pleasantly surprised. First the space is small so I'd recommend an earlier time if you plan to go for food. It's a straight shot with tables along the glass to the left and a bar seating at the bar to the right. Apparently there's another room off to the side that looked cute with a flower wall, it was being used for someone's birthday event. Thankfully a group was just leaving when we came in so we got their table but otherwise all seating was taken and people were standing around. The establishment seems more chill vibe during the day and a bar vibe at night which worked for us. The only downside at night is that you have to go up to the bar to order your food/drinks. Since there's no dedicated server we had quite a wait for our food and we had to ask multiple times for our check. We ordered the brown sugar babe and hibiscus margaritas. The brown sugar babe -that thang is STRONG definitely an old fashioned. When I asked the bartender about it to see if I could get more apple cider in it they said it didn't come in it even though it was on the menu? Luckily I don't mind a stiff drink. The hibiscus margarita was amazing ended up ordering another round. For food we got an order of fries, mac & cheese bites, and the garlic Parmesan wings. Absolutely recommend the wings! They were extra crispy and help up well with the sauce that was super flavorful. Cedars Corner has a nice vibe to it. We came to grab a quick bite. Daniel came over to take our order since they weren't that busy. You normally have to place your food order at the bar. We placed the order and paid first. Paying included leaving the tip first as well See photos for what was ordered. Our order took quite a bit of time, but we weren't in a hurry. Soooo. If you don't like your fish fried so hard you can't eat it or super dry this is where you should go. I've had the catfish several times and it's slightly crunchy, light golden brown, and moist and flaky inside. Omg. I could eat it every day! Lol. They also don't skimp on the portions of fish, fries or condiments (tarter sauce for me). Hubby and I shared a plate of catfish and an order of prawns and we have left overs. The mac and cheese bites are fresh, creamy, and delicious! We placed our order online and it was waiting when we arrived. The lady wearing bicycle shorts was super sweet and genuinely helpful! My team decided to go out to celebrate after a graduation and this was definitely the place to be! It was around 7 pm when we went and it was full, inside and out. We managed to find a seat and ordered at the bar. It took a minute to place our order, but it made sense since the place was packed. Cedars Corner is a nice addition to downtown Fairfield, I'm glad I was finally able to stop by. I love a bar that has good drinks and fried food to soak them up, it's usually a winning combination. I visited solo and never felt uncomfortable. I was able to pull out my Kindle and get some reading in while I enjoyed a few drinks and waited for my food. Note: noise doesn't bother me when I read, this is a bar so don't expect a low volume level. Other patrons chatted with me and shared their favorite menu items. Apparently the Caesar salad is good, but they were sold out for the day so I'll try it next time. The fried chicken that I had wasn't as salted/seasoned as I like, but it was fried well. I'd order it again. There are flavor options that you can get your chicken tossed in, but I ordered chicken and waffles so I opted for regular fried whole wings. I like to cover my wings with hot sauce and a drizzle of syrup when I'm eating that combo. Their syrup was good. That sounds random, but some places have watered down runny syrup. In my opinion they were understaffed, but I feel like they did great at acknowledging customers and letting people know they'd be with them shortly. Some of the young ladies with their customer service is horrible. Popped in one evening to check out the evolving Fairfield downtown scene and came upon Cedars corner. Exterior was cute and the crowd inside quite lively so we found a couple bar stools. Last night was my first time at Cedars Corner Bar & Kitchen, and it was such a great experience! We were hosting a small Friendsgiving and I arrived early. The location is on the smaller side, but they have a cozy "back room" that can comfortably seat about 11 people -- a table for 8 plus 3 side chairs with mini tables. There's a huge glass window that looks out to the street and a beautiful floral wall with their bar name lit up in lights. I asked if we could use the room for our group and the staff kindly said yes. While I waited, I ordered a Watermelon Breeze -- delicious! Once everyone arrived, we settled in, ordered drinks and appetizers, and everything was amazing. The hush puppies were incredible, and I tried a green tea shot for the first time -- so good! It was everyone's first time here and we're all locals, so it was nice finding a new spot we actually enjoyed together. The bar area on the other side looks perfect for date night or even just coming in solo. Great music, great vibe, and great service from the bartender/servers. This spot is in a prime location right on the corner, downtown Fairfield. The inside is well lit with large screen TVs behind the full bar. I ordered an espresso martini that was perfection. To eat, I had the 3pc fish combo with fries. They give you a choice of catfish, sole or cod. I chose 2 pieces of catfish and one piece of cod with salt and vinegar fries. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. The portions are so large, I was only able to eat one piece of catfish and some fries, and took the rest to go. We ordered a few dishes: Wagyu Cheeseburger & (2) Fried Codfish with 6 pieces of large chicken wings, and French Fries. There is room for improvement * Date night was the week that cedars bar and grilled opened and we knew not to expect too much. The service was great with the exception of our server being distracted mid order by another employee. We ordered drinks while we meandered through the menu and decided on the calamari and 2 piece cat fish along with their three piece chicken tenders. The catfish came out first and it took a while for the chicken tenders to come out. I think our waitress forgot about the calamari order so we needed to remind her but when it came out it tasted fresh. Minus .5 on forgetting the calamari Minus .5 on how everything was seasoned the same. The calamari was accompanied by either ranch tartar sauce which was the same as the catfish so hopefully down the line they'll have their own aioli sauce for the calamari. I went to this place during the week. They had one woman behind the bar and another woman who just sat on her phone and got up every now and again to maybe ask someone if they wanted something. When we arrived, there were several tables that had not been cleaned, and when we sat down at a table, they only cleaned a part of the table and not the whole table and left the dirty dishes on the connecting table. We ordered some food and our food just sat there until the bartender picked it up to deliver it to our table because the girl on her phone didn't want to get off of her phone to bring our food. There were other people coming from the back, just looking and not helping us. I like this place because a lot of people go there and the food is pretty good, but the service absolutely sucks. If you do not want to work in customer service or serve the customers then really as employees they should find somewhere else to work. I noticed this new spot across the street from Rustwater and decided to try it out with some friends. Last night we went in and sat in the lounge area. Ambiance was nice, a little bright but nothing too bad. I loved the overall interior of the place, a nice spot to hang and talk amongst friends. Our waitress was SO nice and she made our drinks. She apologized for taking so long but we didn't mind at all and the drinks were nice and strong! Something well deserved and welcome after a hard days work :) at the end of your shift this is what you're looking for. The cocktail selection holds lots of variety and since it's an open bar they can make pretty much any drink. Unfortunately, no blended drinks though :c We primarily came for the drinks and cigar bar but we couldn't have that on empty stomachs. We ordered some appetizers and wings. Hushpuppies - 9/10.. good taste, nice and crisp, hard to get good hushpuppies and these didn't disappoint. Mac and cheese bites - 9/10, loved the gouda in there! Nice and creamy Wings and fries - 8/10 GOT DANG THESE WINGS WERE MANDO! We got lemon pepper and buffalo, taste was real good.. only thing is they were kinda soggy, next time I would just tell the waitress to fry them hard and they'd be perfect! The fries had an interesting seasoning, but nice and crispy :) After, some of my group got cigars next door and smoked them outside on the patio where there was a nice heating tower. It was also fun to sing some throwbacks and RnB songs along with the guests, the vibes were definitely a 10/10. Picked this spot for date night with my husband. He had a craving for some fried fish. I had seen it a couple times during my drive through downtown from. We were able to find parking on the street right in front of the restaurant. Like many establishments, they don't have their own parking lot. I appreciate the city's attempt to revive the downtown scene, so I make every attempt to try the new spots. The server/bartender seated us quickly, but was a bit laggy to get us menus and to take our order. He was friendly, but seemed a little pre-occupied. We liked that the menu was simple, but enough variety to satisfy most customers' craving. The drinks came out quickly, but I was a bit deflated to see they were basic looking unlike the description on the menu. The food was served in a paper- lined red plastic basket, which I didn't mind; it worked for the fried food, but for my salad..... hmmm not so great! Their fish was VERY flavorful. My husband said it was fresh, seasoned well and not dripping in oil. The shrimp meat was dry and tasted overcooked, but the batter was crisp and crunchy. I was hoping the fries that came with the combo would be enough to share, but nope. It was just enough for my husband to gobble all up. Next time, I know to order my own. The fried mushrooms were good on the outside, but the inside... I couldn't tell if the mushy-ness of the taste was because of the juicy-ness of the mushroom or uncooked batter. The salad was basic, the lettuce was fresh and green, they were generous on the cheese, but a little stingy on the croutons. For the price, I probably will pass the next time we visit. read more

I was warned this place had poor service, but I still wanted to try the place out. I wanted a burger and a beer, and there aren't many late night options in Fairfield. Half of their seating was apparently reserved for some party, so there wasn't any available seating inside. The girl behind the bar said we could sit on the patio. Great! We go outside, find a clean table, and sit. Then we wait. And wait... And wait... At one point, a server came and brought food to one of the other outside tables. Of course he saw us, so we could expect to be helped soon, right? So we waited some more. Then some more... Then some more... Nobody came to bring us menus or offer water. Okay, whatever. Let me go inside and try to flag someone down. As I walk back in, the woman who originally told us we could go to the patio sees me but doesn't acknowledge me. She's probably busy. No big deal. I find an open spot at the bar and wait for the bartender to have a moment to hopefully get a chance to ask if we're supposed to order at the bar or if a server is supposed to come to our table. While waiting, I see some of the other workers just kinda standing around near the back of the bar, clearly not busy, but not being attentive to me. After a while of not being acknowledged by anyone working, the bartender tells me he'll get to me to after he delivers some drinks. Cool! Except he never the managed to get back to me. I stood around for a bit, watching the other workers not doing much, watching the woman who originally greeted me and told me to sit outside continue to not be helpful. The music was fit for your typical millennial playing at a higher-than-usual volume, so much so, that the women at the table next to us couldn't help but get their groove on while a gentleman at the bar cheered them on, which was fun to see. There was a group of girlfriends having dinner, a woman either working or studying with her laptop and books at the bar, two gentlemen playfully teasing other patrons coming in and out of the restaurant -- this was a Thursday. Generally, it's a casual and pleasant place for people to hang out and unwind. We ordered an IPA and the fish and chips with three different fish -- cod, bass (I think?), and catfish. I thought it was good. Decent portions. I ate the whole thing. The fish tasted fresh and the batter for both the fish and the fries was a good flavor. Our server was attentive and courteous. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. When I walked into Cedars Corner Bar & Kitchen, I was not greeted by anyone. I ended up seating myself, and despite an employee standing behind the bar, no one acknowledged me. After sitting for a while, I eventually had to get up and grab my own menu from the bar. I ordered a simple Philly cheesesteak--nothing complicated. Unfortunately, I had no idea that ordering a basic sandwich would turn into a 55+ minute wait. At the time, there were fewer than 10 people in the restaurant, and it appeared that everyone else was also waiting for their food. After waiting nearly an hour, I asked the bartender--who was apparently also acting as the server--for my bill so I could pay for my Coca-Cola and leave. She told me my food was "almost ready," but at that point I explained that I only wanted to pay for the drink and go. For a restaurant located near the Superior Courts, this is unacceptable. Many patrons only have about an hour to an hour and a half for lunch. Waiting nearly an hour for a simple sandwich is unreasonable. The situation was made worse by the bartender's attitude. She told me there was no manager available and said I should "just leave." She didn't bother to look at me, ask if I needed anything else, or attempt to resolve the issue before walking away. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service was disappointing. I also noticed the bartender was wearing Crocs with no socks, which seemed inappropriate and unhygienic for a restaurant environment. Overall, the experience was frustrating and unprofessional. It was good enough for one visit. The best thing I can say about the place is it had good fries. The wait staff left a lot to be desired... The owner was doing all the work while the servers seemed to only want to chat with regulars. I watched as our food was brought to the bar (NOT where we were sitting) and sat for 5 minutes. Our server just looked at our food and kept talking. The owner finally brought it over himself.
