Came in today and was served by the owner Francis. What was most impressive was that he came in to cover for most of the workers who were celebrating a Muslim holiday. His words were also inspiring when he told me he trains his workers to service customers and not just look to take their money. He is about customer service. Excellent service at this Carvel location! The servers are young but friendly and efficient, and the venue is relatively well kept. More so, this location always seems to be the most crowded of all those in Bay Ridge, which only supports my claim towards their excellent service! Their location offers a lot of different ice cream flavors, sherbets, and even a few unique dairy free flavors! Although I visited to purchase a vanilla soft serve with strawberries and pineapples, I ended up submitting myself to the temptation of a junior scoop of dairy free orange-tangerine ice cream upon recommendation by my server. I was amazed by the creaminess and excellent taste of the dairy free dessert! While it was a little overly sugary, it was a refreshing guilt free treat to end my night! In essence, this Carvel location offers efficient service, and an abundance of options to satisfy the sweet tooth of those of any diet. The servers are friendly and seem happy to make recommendations to help customers select the best ice cream flavors and combos. The only issue is that, because they are so popular, they sometimes run out of sealed take home ice-cream treats, certain toppings (like the pineapples for my vanilla ice cream), and preferred ice cream flavors. It was 8PM and hubby and I looked at each other on the couch and realized we didn't have dessert. I wanted something sweet and fast and decided on old faithful - Carvel! I ordered through the Yelp app for him his usual staple - vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles. However, I added to his order crunchies to add a little excitement to his life. I got the small chocolate volcano soft serve with crunchies as well, because why not. The delivery was set for a time window of 8:19PM-8:39PM, and it literally came at 8:15PM, lightening fast! Everything was packaged super carefully and our driver sprinted from his car to hand me our order and ran back to the car; it was something to witness all in itself. I didn't like the rising price of my food and not getting a cherry with my sundae but that sundae did keep me from starving to death or going on a homicidal rampage after having my evening wasted by that obnoxious broker. First time ordering a birthday cake at carvel. Took a look at the website and was interested in the butterfly one. Went in to the store and the staff (didn't get his name, asian male) was very informative and was told I can customize the cake with different colors. I was thinking that's cool, I can choose different colors rather than the default one on the website. But when I picked up the cake, it was 10x better than the website. The staffs went above and beyond. I'm not sure who made the cake but if it was an employee than you deserve a raise and if it was the owner than you'll be getting my business again. read more

The ice cream cake tasted as expected, however the staff/owner skimmed it with not providing candles, nor plastic knife, nor even a bag for the cake. A bit unbelievable given the cake itself isn't cheap. When I asked for a candle they pointed me to the rack of candles that I have to pay for. One of the two Carvel ice cream parlors in the neighborhood. Out of the ice cream taste I think this place has the slight lead. The ice cream is a lot softer and "creamier" compared to the other one which almost felt like freezer burn. This place may have a smaller selection in flavors but they're all good. One of the only downfalls is there scoops are not as generous. Usually even though I get a kids size they would "hook it up" but they gave a smaller portion. The 5 star rating is based on the taste. Best Carvel in the area! Having moved from the city, it was a bit of a shocker to see Carvel stores everywhere (did I time machine back to 1980?) instead of gourmet frozen treat joints like Il Laboratorio del Gelato. But on a hot day, you just need ice cream so you stop looking for gourmet and settle for what you can find. This carvel has a good selection of soft serve on hand: vanilla, pistachio, chocolate, and strawberry. I've seen another location close by with a few more choices, but what separates this from the other - the ice cream is actually frozen and not already turning into a milkshake when the cone touches my hand. They seem to be pretty busy during peak times on most days. The prices are fair and the ice cream is pretty good. read more

Not as good as the other Carvels I've been to. Service is ok- most of the time it's young kids working the counter and you can tell they don't love their job. Prices are the same as other ice cream joints in the area. My main complaint is the last two times I went here, my milkshake was 90% milk and 10% ice cream. It's so disappointing that it happened twice because I was ready to give them another try. I ordered mint chocolate chip both times and the mint taste was nowhere to be found. Nutella soft serve ice cream is the best thing I have tried recently. The bf and I shared a nutella sundae dasher which was layers of nutella soft serve, nutella sauce, cookie crunch and chocolate sauce. It was amazing.
