Carvana Review - Great Service, But a Few Disappointing Surprises My overall purchasing and trade-in experience with Carvana was smooth, and I want to highlight the exceptional service I received from my concierge, Darius, and his assistant, Paul. Every time I called into the center, the representatives and supervisor were also incredibly helpful and professional. Their customer service is definitely a strength. I did, however, remove one star due to a few issues with the vehicle itself. When the car arrived, there were paint defects on both sides that were not advertised online. I submitted photos of the damages, but Carvana only provided compensation for detailing based on one side, even though both were affected. On top of that, the car arrived needing an oil change, which was frustrating--especially since I purchased the extra protection package that supposedly includes oil changes. I ended up having to pay out of pocket for the oil change and was told I "should be reimbursed" after submitting receipts, photos of the oil level, and going through a review process. Honestly... what? That part of the experience felt unnecessarily complicated. I still haven't gotten the detailing done because I'm trying to find a shop that fits within the amount they offered. All in all, the process itself was seamless and the staff were wonderful--but the condition of the car upon arrival and the back-and-forth over reimbursement kept this from being a truly 5-star experience. read more

If it's OK for Warren Buffet to buy only used cars, it's fine with me too. Besides, I'd rather the depreciation fall with someone who cannot do without that 'new car' smell. That said, I despise buying any car at a dealership. Though some are better than others, I don't want to shop anywhere that requires me to go in on the defensive to do business with a cheap-suit-wearing, cigarette-smoking coniver. I can avoid that with Carvana. (I also previously bought vehicles through Vroom, which is no longer in business.) With Carvana, what you see is what you get. And that includes the price. The only "salesperson" is an online robot. Many of the cars are low-mileage, and the prices are mostly good. I've previously had my cars delivered, but this time we wanted to put the coin in the slot to get our son's Christmas present. It was fun. And quick. The folks here were polite and professional. I hate to be this guy but... I purchased a Nissan Armada from Carvana, and while most of the buying process went smoothly, my experience after delivery has been disappointing. The vehicle was listed as including the 3rd row mat, which is a custom mat that comes with the Platinum package, but the SUV arrived with no mats at all. When I contacted Carvana, they offered me $100 as a "good faith gesture." The problem is that each replacement mat costs around $200, so $100 doesn't solve the issue. I explained that it wasn't about the money -- I simply wanted them to reach out to the location where I picked up the vehicle and ask if the mats were left behind. The representative refused, saying they couldn't do that, which I find hard to believe. To make things worse, they described the $100 as a symbolic gesture, as if they were doing me a favor, despite me paying $50,000 for the vehicle. I even followed up with their business account, asking once again for someone to at least attempt to look for the mats, but my message went unanswered. It's frustrating because 90% of my experience with Carvana was positive, but this last part left a sour taste. A company selling high-value vehicles should stand behind their listings and take customer concerns seriously. Something as simple as making a phone call to verify whether the mats were left behind would have gone a long way in preventing this review. Also I would like to point out that while waiting to pick up my vehicle there was another customer there complaining about items missing from his new vehicle that were listed as being included. read more

I was alarmed and distressed to find out that the only documentation I received from the sale of my vehicle was the printed check. I feel Carvana should have also provided the following: 1. A check stub with the relevant details of the sale 2. Completion and submission of the Vehicle Transfer Notification showing the actual address of the Carvana store where the sale actually was transacted. 3. A copy of the Vehicle Transfer Notification Submission Confirmation. 4. A copy of the Vehicle Purchase Agreement. 5. A copy of the Odometer Disclosure Statement. For me the failure of Carvana to provide these documents to me means that I will have nothing to do with Carvana ever again. And I certainly would not recommend Carvana to anyone. read more

This was my sixth purchase with Carvana, and I've always trusted them for my vehicles, which makes this experience especially heartbreaking. I started with a $35,000 purchase, but when I realized the color was wrong (green), I ended up chosea black vehicle that cost $14,000 more and had a higher shipping fee ($1,700 instead of $1,200). I accepted the extra cost because I truly wanted the right car. Even then, I was still delivered a green vehicle. I was told it was a system error and asked to find another car, but there were no other options that matched what I needed. After paying more and making multiple calls, I received no refund, no compensation, no courtesy credit, and no real apology. Promised callbacks never happened, and I felt completely ignored. No real effort was made to fix what was clearly not my mistake. The only response I got was that I might receive $500 if I found another vehicle, which I couldn't. There was no item in stock. We had a 2014 Ford El Expedition with all the bells and whistles. Basically the bus was no longer needed all our kiddos have grown up. So I took my vehicle to Carmax waited there for an hour and received my payment for my vehicle which was extremely low. My buddy called and told me to try out Carvana. I didn't have to travel there everything was on line. Carvana gave me a way better car value than Carmax, like 4 grand more! I was extremely excited, this was a fair price for my car, but I figured they were going to nickel and dime me once I arrived with my car. Well I was wrong no hassle at all. They made sure I had my drivers license and the car title, that was it. This is definitely the best experience I have had selling my used car. Surprisingly, the payoff on my lease of a 2023 Lexus RZ and its market value just about coincided some seven months prior to termination ... the normal range is 30-60 days. Not intending to purchase the vehicle, I checked to see if I could sell it without any "negative equity" payment. Carvana came exceptionally close, so I decided to move forward. Their offer was $4000 better than its closest competitor. Once I began the process, my confidence increased. I was guided step-by-step as to what I needed to do, what paperwork and photos were necessary (the uploading process was as stress-free as possible). Responses were almost immediate, and arrangements were made to pick up the Lexus. Right on time, Fred showed up, went over all the details, confirmed that the vehicle was as claimed, and loaded the car onto the flatbed. The entire process took less than twenty minutes. I was emailed shortly thereafter confirming the transaction. I've tried Carvana before, but their offers were generally lower than the competition. I don't have a problem with the facility in Houston but I have a problem with Carvana. I've never used them before, thought I would give it a try and hoped for the best. Initial delivery pickup was good however the car could have been cleaner, didn't look that clean on the outside, had some grease that was hard to get off. But the experience went down hill from there. Car sunroof stopped working and the remote start was not on the keyfob but CLEARLY stated on the the website. So initiated the process to get these items fixed during my 7 day review of the car. Went to the first Carvana approved "SilverRock" facility, which did not work on Alfa Romeos, as I had pointed out to the Carvana advocate I talked to the day before. But following the process I wasted a couple hours and 25 miles of driving. Then we worked through a waiver to get the car to a dealer... 50 miles away to get fixed, meanwhile Carvana was evaluating the keyfob screwup and ended up telling me that the car was priced as it was and basically all they could do is give me $100 for my troubles???? Has anyone priced a keyfob lately? Of course that doesn't touch the cost of a keyfob, especially for an Alfa Romeo. All of this back and forth discussions, driving car to get repaired, etc.. cost me time off work and stress for something that should be a fun activity. Bottom line, Carvana said they could not cover the cost of a keyfob replacement AND recognized they should have removed the "Remote Start System" from the option of the car on the website. But they were not going to fix it.. that's crazy poor customer services..makes no sense. So I'm sending the car back, still have to pick it up from the dealer.. another 100 mile round trip for me and my wife. I paid a "non-refundable" $1,800 shipping fee for this car, I will obviously argue that back and have been told by some of the Carvana Advocates that I should get it back but with the way their process works.. not so sure. Still not sure how much money this little exercise cost me. BE AWARE. You might be ok if everything works .. but you're screwed if they screw up and miss something on their "150 point" inspection. They are not going to correct if for you. read more

Overall the buying experience was and easy process no dealing with sales people. I am happy with my car however disappointed with the amount of damage that was not disclosed. 1. there were several more scratches and scuffs as well as overspray on the hood. The drivers side rear bumper panel is popped out and will not fit back in without replacing the bracket underneath. 2. the interior panel around the shift bezel has scratches, the rear leather seat has a crudely repaired patch as well as glossy paint around it. 3. the driver's side rear muffler had been smashed up into the frame where it had been misaligned with the exit panel causing the surrounding area to melt over time. 4. the check engine light came on 3 days into driving it, ended up being the thermostat which was an easy fix so not a big deal. 5. The idler pulley and tensioner pulley were both bad making noise, again easy fix. Like I said it was overall a good experience just disappointed with the undisclosed damage, they really needed a more competent inspector, not sure how all this got missed. read more

Ordered it mid December was supposed to be delivered on my birthday but didn't get here till Jan 4th. 4- They do offer a 7 day return where you can choose another vehicle to be delivered if you aren't pleased with the original. I purchased a car on Saturday of course site unseen only pictures. I get it and the tires are extremely worn down. I go to get in it on the third morning and it won't start so I take it to the Firestone dealer and I asked them to run a diagnostic test on it and see what they think. They told me I needed a new battery. They put it on the machine and it shows very, very low. And he said I absolutely need four tires and I also needed a front end alignment and that was why the tires were so worn. He said that he thought that the air conditioner filter in the car had never been changed at 50,000 miles. He also thought that the tires had never been rotated due to the wear pattern. By the way, I was told that this car went through a 200 point inspection before they sent it to me. I can understand about the battery, but I can't understand about the filter and the tires and the front end alignment. So I called there service and Firestone sent them pictures of everything that was wrong. They changed the air filter. They said because the tires and the battery had not completely failed. They were not going to touch it. Thank goodness they have a seven day return policy. They'll be picking it up on a Saturday. Don't trust them. He would think that they would not do that to a customer that just spent $27,000 with them and they could've fixed it all for about $1000.00. read more
