Unfortunately one of the security guards working was extremely rude, they just continuously yelled "keep walking". There were no instructions on people with bag go here, people without bags go here, so it just seemed like the line was going one by one. Then one of the people in my group had to stop at the table to get their bag inspected and I was trying to stick with our group as to not get lost and like I said there were no instructions given to go a specific place so I was waiting behind them and one of the security guards yelled in my face to "keep walking" and looked at me like I was an idiot for not reading his mind and figuring out what he wanted me to do. All the other security guards were very nice and had CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS for what to do so idk if this guy missed the memo but I think that situation could have been handled a lot better without having to scream at people who are trying to figure out what to do and where to go.

However, without compromise. Seating only 750 patrons,there's not a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are almost perfect, comfortable seats,easy parking. I can't say enough good things about this space. Problem is,Dallas has so many venues, getting back here may take awhile. Obviously Jon Andersons peeps did their homework on selecting this auditorium to showcase Jon's skills,still viable at 80 years old! His singing and music still thrills after decades. An interesting aside. As a young man,I saw him with Yes just down the street in 1972! That would have made him 27! Brides - you don't want to cry in the bathroom on your wedding day like my best friend. The DJ gave a long convoluted "show" about her Italian heritage - she and her husband are 100% Irish. This was a pathetic wedding DJ - I don't care what NY radio station he went to - this was our experience and it was terrible. That's fact. Timely response? I wrote it 9/26/2010. I went to see famous photographer Annie Leibovitz at the McFarlin Auditorium. It was a weeknight event, so we knew traffic and parking would be a challenge. We left Richardson at 6:00 pm to get there early for a 7:30 pm start time. We arrived early and were actually in our seats with 30 minutes to chat. We found parking in the Daniel Street garage for $20. It was one of the suggested locations to park. Although it was recommended that we take the DART train and the Mustang Express bus that shuttles you to and from the SMU campus. With a late night event, we decided it would probably be safer to carpool. The parking garage is a short walk to the auditorium. It's a straight shot, flat, paved path and lighted all of the way. There is also an emergency call post along the way. No food or drink are permitted in the auditorium. Seats were comfortable with a thick, springy cushion - definitely adequate for an hour plus of time sitting. Ticket takers scanned our electronic tickets as we entered the venue. We were able to find our seats quickly. This is a nice venue and has some unique history. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke here during the civil rights movement. A historical marker outside of the building tells of his visit. I would absolutely come here again if lured by another speaker with an amazing story to share.

So glad to see them coming back after a long dry spell, due to covid. Wine & beer are for sale tonight, along with tex-mex from a local restaurant. Hope to see the return of numerous food trucks that they've had in the past. Counting on the return of local vendors, too. It was like a farmers market and craft show mix with 15 or so booths. Tonight, I'll enjoy PriMadonna, Texas' only Madonna tribute band and Even It Up, a Heart tribute band.

The grand tier is really high up so I do prefer floors 1-4 ideally but I would not be scared to see a show from level 5. Sight lines are nice throughout. I may have to think about one of the extreme side seats on higher levels. That could restrict sight lines some. The Broadway shows are always great - in my opinion the sound and seating at Winspear really shine versus Fair Park Music Hall. Concerts here are fantastic and I would jump at the chance to see a favorite artist at the Winspear. Easiest parking is the Lexus Red lot but it is a bit pricey and naturally takes a while to empty out post show. Still you can walk around after the show and let the crowds clear out or get a snack at the Flora Cantina next door. There is also dining inside the center up high which looks really great. Amazing views from inside on all levels. What a gorgeous building and we are lucky to have it in our city.

Parking at the Lexus Garage was a breeze. Word of warning, pre-purchase your parking with your tickets. Parking was sold out and only allowing pre-purchased entry. The Winspear is such a beautiful venue especially the showcase chandelier light feature that raises up into the ceiling before a performance. Diana and her upright bass and drummer didn't take the stage until 8:15-8:20, The trio never sounded better. Wow, what musicianship! The sound was mixed perfectly and there was a wonderful mix of standards and original music, and quite a bit of jazz improv. In the audience there was a lot of mouths hanging open with amazement. What an incredible evening of jazz, thoroughly enjoyable.
