Excellent coffee. I had the lavender honey latte (hot) at the Sky Harbor location and it did not disappoint at all. I will definitely be trying the Scottsdale location soon and hoping for the same. read more

Great local coffee! Cartel is a perfect place to get a cup. Big fan! When I'm in Phoenix I always try to stop in.

Just tried this new location and I have to say that I'm loving Cartel!! So happy this new location opened up as it's more convenient. I'm love the coffee, hot chocolate and gluten free baked goods. The only draw back is there is no drive through. They should have gone into the Sip Coffee place that closed on Shea, which was an easier entrance and exit. Really hoping this Cartel Coffee makes a go and lasts in this location!! read more

Cartel Roasting - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I've been a fan of Cartel coffee for years! So happy that they brought a location to the north valley in PV! This location is smaller than their Scottsdale location, but has the same great coffee and same friendly customer service! I'm a big fan of their cold brew, and also occasionally get a latte. This spot can be great work working or studying! read more

Cartel Roasting - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Super happy to have a Cartel in the PV community! A friend had mentioned that there was a new Cartel in the neighborhood, and we immediately made plans to visit. I love all of the other locations around the Valley, and this one hopefully I will come to love. I ordered a dirty chai and my partner a chai. We got it with an alternative nut milk. The drinks were good - per usual - but not hot enough...but perhaps I can request it to be made extra hot next time! The space is pretty standard for a coffee shop. I also noticed that they had vegan offerings in their refrigerated section. The order taker and barista were alright, friendly for the most part. There was a mix up in our drinks for a short moment because the barista did not indicate which drink she was providing first. Anywho, I will be back! read more

No skim milk and no coconut milk. Seriously? Ordered vanilla latte in smaller of two sizes. Came out in itty bitty cup (for $5!!) and with syrup spilled down outside. Barista saw that I had a sticky hand and had to duck into the bathroom for wet paper towel to wipe off. No apology or help. Coffee is decent, but lousy service. I was one of three customers in store. Won't go back. Too many coffee places to choose from these days. Service matters. read more

Cartel Roasting - This is a $5 latte. Tiny. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Cute shop with outdoor seating overlooking a parking lot. I ordered the chai latte, and it was all milk and a whisper of chai. Tasted like a cup of whole milk, looked like a cup of whole milk. And a lot of ice. Not impressed with the bev, service was perfunctory and not memorable. If I were meeting someone in the area I'd come back but not making a special trip. read more

I hadn't been here in years, but I finally decided to revisit this location. I wish I had come here sooner! Chloe was absolutely fantastic and really friendly. We had a great conversation about their alternative milk, which I think is called Numilk. Their cashew milk is amazing! Chloe also makes excellent coffee. Thanks, Chloe! :) read more

$5.16 ice tea. Terrible loud music. Unfriendly staff. Cartel you are not that cool. Hard pass. read more

Cartel Roasting - $5.16 ice tea. Pathetic. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Always great service and great coffee. One of the best roasts in Phoenix area. If you buy a bag of coffee, they will grind the coffee for whatever you are using it for (ie if making cold brew) and you get a complimentary coffee with your bag. read more

One of the best experiences I have had at a cafe in the area. The baristas are so knowledgeable and helpful. My coffee was ready quickly even though there was clearly a rush. Can't wait to go back! read more

I'm typically hesitant to visit any Cartel coffee, but this location has officially deferred me from ever visiting any location again. The staff was not particularly friendly and I paid nearly $7 for a cappuccino, which is not unusual for Cartel. However, what really irked me was the extreme lack of cleanliness in this location. I spent 4-5 hours doing computer work there and not once did I see an employee wipe down a table or clear dirty mugs, napkins, and/or cups that were leftover from previous customers. The tables were filthy, full of crumbs, and floors needed to be swept. This location was lackluster. Disappointed. read more

Cartel Roasting - Dirty dishes/napkins left out for hours. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Worst coffee and it smelt really bad too. Barista was over worked and trying to keep up the cash register and make drinks. The line was growing longer and some folks waited more than 25 minutes to get there beverages. the prices they charge and the service and quality one gets is not of any value. They really need to up there game. read more

They have the best iced chai lattes and really yummy honey lavender lattes! My husband is a big fan on their cold brew!

Trent is an amazing barista and a great asset! However, the coffee is waaay too expensive for what you get. The store is dark but functional. Parking can be a challenge due to the poor planning of the strip mall/block. read more

I like coming to the spot early in the morning and in the afternoons. It's typically not very busy which is nice and allows for me to be able to get some work done while enjoying a cuppa coffee. Most of the workers are pleasant and have been competent/helpful with the orders. For the most part, everybody is pretty cheerful as well, and they play decent music for the most part. This morning, someone had burnt cooking spray on the griddle in the entire shop smelled like oil. Unfortunately I smell like oil now too. I was also not a huge fan of that music that she was playing. Needless to say, not a very productive environment for me this morning, therefore I am heading to another coffee shop. read more

I've tried Cartel Coffee before, but I didn't really remember if I liked it. I was quite surprised to see that a new location came to my neighborhood and so decided to try it out. I got a hot 8 oz vanilla latte with almond milk. It was strong but ok. I can see why many people like it. I also got a blueberry ricotta coffee cake and it was yuck. I took one bite and threw it away - $4 down the drain. Ah well. Welcome to the neighborhood, Cartel. read more

Coffee here is totally delicious!!! Some of the best I've had. Just be aware that it's pricey and not a huge place - so you may want to grab a table outside. But the coffee quality really is above anything else at Tatum and Shea - hands down. read more

Finally went into this cute coffee shop that I've been wanting to try for like a year! liked the music and the vibe of the storefront. The barista was nice, but small talked me, which personally I don't care for. It's her job so I'm sure she's supposed to do that, I really wish they'd do away with that. It's just too much...and not sincere. So what's the point? Anyway, back to the coffee...I ordered an iced honey lavender oat milk latte. The coffee was good (and I'm a coffee snob so that's saying something), the oat milk was smooth and the flavor was good, EXCEPT the barista spent 5 minutes talking to a guy who came to get ice water in his water bottle and proceeded to give him her number. While I was waiting for my drink! So needless to say I was not pleased with the service. My iced latte was warm, not enough ice and mediocre since the honey was all on the bottom. The service was disappointing, but I'll try again sometime, maybe for a hot coffee. Sheesh!! read more

Hands down, THE BEST coffee in town. It's truly all about the beans, no other coffee tastes this good. I even buy them for our home Jura machine. For a special treat, try the Ancho Chile Mocha with oat milk, addicting! read more

This place has cool, minimalistic vibe. The coffee was just okay. For all my sugar free/keto friends they don't have any sugar free syrups which is a bummer. But they do have stevia packets, and black coffee/cold brew. They have a couple out door tables and chairs which is nice. read more

This is the best coffee in town, the barista's are super friendly. I love this place!!! So glad they replaced Starbucks with good coffee

Super disappointed... I ordered a quad shot vanilla oat milk latte for 8.15 and tipped an extra dollar. The gal that greeted me was very sweet and friendly. She took my order and that was it. The barista made my drink and set it on the counter. I took a sip and could tell it wasn't 4 shots and it was also cold/Luke warm. I asked if it was 4 shots and he said oh, no it's not. Then he asked me " do you want me to remake it?" Um... yes please, as I just paid $9 for a drink I'd like it to be what I ordered. He was very rude after that and never addressed me again. Made the drink and set it on the counter. It still tasted like crap and mostly milk with very little coffee flavor. I used to love Cartel coffee but it seems they don't care about the art of making a decent coffee anymore. read more

We really enjoyed our coffee & pastry experience here. The apple butter pop tart was delicious & the honey lavender matcha was dreamy. The espresso had wonderful flavor. This was worth the stop! read more

They didn't have much available that they have on the menu. It was the fourth or fifth selection my friend made before they had it and even then, they only gave her a small tea instead of a large and told her she could come back in for another as they didn't have a large. This was after she paid for a large. read more

You need to know exactly what you want when ordering. The espresso is really strong so, I do not recommend on an empty stomach unless you have an iron stomach. I really like the vibe of Cartel in Old Town Scottsdale and think that the Paradise Valley Cartel is a little too open. It would be tough to have a conversation without all hearing. The menu is rich and offers a much better selection of real pressed coffee that reminds me of a European cup of joe. I like it better than Starbucks sugary bevs. Try the Oat milk in your lattea read more

Happy to have this place in the old Starbucks location at Tatum and Shea. The have built it out into a cute place with patio seating and really good coffee. read more

This is the best coffee in the valley. I've been coming here for 4 years and still love it every time I go. The beans are always smooth and rich. Their americano is the best. I also recommend checking out their cold brew. It's a bit pricey, but worth it! read more

The atmosphere was nice to get work done, but I was not overly impressed with their coffee. Not great, but not bad either

Love The CCL-Carmel and coconut cold brew. They also have a cold brew drink with pineapple juice and coconut that was good

First time experience not good. My husband ordered our usual drinks - iced coffees with sugar-free vanilla and a splash of heavy cream. They didn't have either sugar-free vanilla or heavy cream so we ordered it with three Splendas and some half and half. The coffee tasted super acidic and bitter and we each could only stomach one sip before throwing the rest away. The service was average. read more

I think Cartel Coffee is the best tasting in all of Phoenix and, yes, I did scientifically prove this a few years back when I bought beans from every local roaster and compared them side by side. I also think the folks at Cartel Coffee Lab are pretty smart for opening their latest store right in the middle of what has to be the highest concentration of boring/bland/nondescript/blah businesses in town (exception being The Covenant, Paradise Juice and of course Trader Joe's- you guys rock). I stopped in for the first time today and it warmed my heart to see this location of Cartel has no intention of changing the level of service from their more urban locations. Don't expect to be rushed through the order line like Starbuck's, but do expect lots of interaction between their workers and customers to make sure everyone gets the best product possible. There also isn't much space in the store, so plan to visit with the others in line with you, and with the people sitting next to you if you do get a spot to sit. To reiterate, if you want a quick coffee drink, head to the Starbuck's drive through. If you want wifi to work a couple of hours, grab one of the many open tables at Starbuck's. If you have time to try the best coffee/espresso in the Valley, poke your head into the new Cartel. It's located in the strip mall at the northeast corner of Tatum & Shea, on the Shea side, just east of Z-Tejas. read more

I've lived in most regions of the country and I've had coffee almost everywhere in the country. I've also traveled extensively in Europe and I lived in Greece for two years. So what?
