TL;DR - If you want to avoid stress & headaches - I would stay away from this shady business. Especially if you are a car care nut and want only the best for your baby. Their slogan is, "Relax, We'll take it from here." They don't let you relax and they make you take all the stress with you from there. My story: They scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks, accepted my car, had me sign papers to begin repair work, knowingly let me take out a rental, and then 2 days later called to say they would not be working on my vehicle - with no explanation given. Honda and Acura Owners: If you have a Honda or Acura and thought they would be good to work with - check again to see if they have updated Honda and Acura Certified Collision credentials - they don't. Do your due diligence and read all of the negative reviews (click negative near reviews). I am by far not the only unsatisfied customer. More details: 1. This review could have been 4 or 5-stars. I was decently satisfied the first time I visited - body work was okay (some issues with gaps), paint was well done (except for swirl marks) and customer service was decent. 2. I thought I finally found a decent repair shop in the Valley. I was going to be a repeat customer - something I thought they would value. I scheduled an appointment - waited 2 weeks and dropped off my vehicle. I provided a list of requests (attached an image to this review) which I felt was not demanding, and then left to get a rental car. 3. 2 days after dropping off my car, Arlene (an estimator) very rudely and unprofessionally calls to say that the OEM parts I requested are on backorder for MONTHS for another Honda vehicle and that it would be the same situation for my car. However, she did not bother to check on the specific parts for my car herself. Just wanting this repair to be completed, I did my best to find out. I called their distributor - Clark Knapp Honda - who said the wait for the parts needed for my vehicle would be 2 business DAYS max. 4. I called her and told her this to which she had no comment. Then she tells me that Progressive has been taking MONTHS to approve estimate supplement requests. Not trusting her, I called Progressive who transferred me to the RGV's local estimator. He said the delay was only 1 WEEK and that he contacted CarStar a day ago and was never told my vehicle was even there. 5. I contact Arlene again. She says that Mark Patterson (apparently some CarStar big shot) said they would not be repairing my vehicle with no other explanation. I then attempted to get ahold of Mark because I do not understand why they are giving me the run around and treating me so poorly. It has been almost a day - I know he will not reach out to explain why. 6. Tired of these antics, I decided to get my baby away from their slimy hands. If they are this shady towards me before beginning work, I can only imagine how they would treat my vehicle. Luckily, I found another body shop who has shown me respect, is actually on the Honda and Acura Certified Collision website and values all of their customers - even people who were initially unhappy updated their reviews with what the business did to remedy their situations. To say the least, this situation has been so unnecessarily stressful. I am so busy with my job and they seemed to just love giving me a hard time and wasting it while they were at it. The only logical explanation I can think of for this is greed. They want money. My car's $2000 repair was not cutting it for them. I understand this to an extent - but they should not make a customer suffer, wait for an appointment and accept their car for repairs if they are not happy with the money they'll receive. They should reject that customer and not waste said customer's time. I will say Cassandra & my car's inspector were great. Keep it up! However, Mark and Arlene had plenty of chances to apologize or figure out another way to get my car repaired. And yet both of them did nothing. read more

I had my Audi A4 repaired with Carstar back in February due to getting t-boned. It all started okay. The girls at the front desk are very friendly and nice. They have great customer service skills. Each time I called to get an update on my car I was told it was "being worked on". So, I show up one day unannounced at about 3:45p and ask to see my Audi and its "progress". Well, no progress, surprise, surprise! My car was dismantled, obviously dirty, no door panels, passenger doors wide open with the front passenger seat very dirty; I should have taken pictures of it. I asked where the progress they spoke of was, and I was told the guy working on my car was going to start on it in a few minutes. It was 3:45p, and he was JUST about to get started on my car. At 3:45p!!! My car had been sitting there ALL day long not getting worked on but each time I called to ask for an update, I was told my car was "being worked on". Each time, I'm sure I was being lied to by this guy, and I can't even remember his name. I showed up unannounced twice and found my Audi in the same condition; not being worked on and being told it was going to get worked on. Who starts working on a car at 3:45-4p when you close at 5:30p?! Then I started getting emails saying my car was going to be ready on said date. I would then call to follow up only to be told, again, it was "still being worked on". That went on for about 2 weeks. Their excuse was the doors to an Audi are not the easiest to put back on. Of course, I call Audi and speak to the people I know there, and they all tell me the doors take 1 day to put back on, 2 days max if the doors don't align, but this "we're still working on it" had already gone on for about 2 weeks. It doesn't take 2 weeks to get doors put back on any car! Time to pick up my car. I get home and it's dark by then so the next day I'm looking over it and find the car is filthy. No one bothered to properly clean my car; inside or out. The seat belt was super dusty. Underneath the passenger seat you could see the dirt, the base of the door, the back passenger floor also had dirt/dust on it. And they tried to hide by putting the floor mat in a way where you couldn't really tell BUT I could! The base of the back passenger door was also filthy; full of that gray dust/powder. The person who washed my AUDI did a real shitty job at washing it too. Left the entire car spotty and dusty. I had to go back the next day to have them clean it up. Clearly that guy does not pride himself in the work he does nor does anyone else, obviously or they would not have turned in such a dirty car to a customer. AND because I never sit on the passenger side of my AUDI, I didn't immediately notice that when the doors slam, they sound hollow. So basically, to get rid of me ASAP because I'm sure I was a pain in the ass to them, all they did was slap the door panels back on my AUDI, put the doors back on the car and called it a day. My driver side doors are heavy and when they shut there is no hollow sound to them. Am I going to take my car back to have them fix it? Probably not because I don't need them keeping my car for another 2 weeks just to have it sitting there the entire time and not work on it, while I'm without a vehicle. Mind you, the doors aren't even of a 2019 or new Audi. The doors are from a fucking 2017 Audi!!! As if they were paying the damage on MY car. The least they could have done was get doors of a 2019 or new model. The very least! Would I go back? Nope Do I recommend Carstar? Nope Was I satisfied with their work? Nope There was absolutely nothing positive about this experience with Carstar! I would have been better off driving my car out to San Antonio and leaving it at Caliber Collision near Fair Oaks. Now the customer service there...superb!!! Lesson learned!! read more

I made an appointment almost a month ago and they didn't find my information. I waited for about half an hour while they looked. They kept asking me for the same information, as if asking again will magically make my appointment appear. To add, they are very disorganized, there wasn't a proper place to park. I was told by State Farm insurance that this center was rated one of the top in the area so I went with their suggestion. I show up on Friday evening before closing and I was told because they had received it late on Friday it would not be looked over till Monday morning and I would get a call first thing on Monday. So I wait for a call, no call. I call myself and I speak with Kassandra. She says they are still assessing the vehicle and should get back to me by end of the day. I had to call back the following day to get the update on their "assessment". I work as a customer service representative so I understand how things take time and I'm trying to be patient. I kept receiving notifications with updates and was given the date of Feb 9th it would be ready for pick up and I was able to let the insurance company know so I knew how long I had my rental but no surprise they message me on the 9th stating they were still waiting on the front headlamp and the new estimated pick up would be Feb 12th. My boyfriend and I needed the truck back on the 9th but we didn't make a fuss so we went with the new date. I wait to call the shop at 8:30am and as I wait for someone to pick up after being on the phone for 10 minutes I get hung up on.. I work an early morning shift so I didn't have time to wait around so I called an hour later. Finally spoke with Alejandra and she tells me it's in the wash process and final assessment but should be ready for pick up at this afternoon but they would call to confirm what time around 1pm. I waited for a call but nobody called me. I eventually called by 3:30pm and asked what the status was since my boyfriend was driving the rental, having to pick me up on his lunch break in time to pick up the truck so i could get to school on time. when I spoke with Kassandra she mentioned she would call me back in 10 minute. those 10 minutes went by and no call back. With my frustration I call back and ask what the status was. The other woman I spoke to mentioned that Kassandra had gone into a meeting but how convenientLu couldn't get back to my request before going into said meeting so this new lady had to go get the update but 30 minutes later finally mentions oh yes they just now finish it and it's ready for pick up... these people take way too long to respond when you need answers and they're more concerned with what their plans are for that evening or that weekend. Don't bring your vehicle here, you will wait forever and thankfully mine did not take as long as most people who have previously posted before me. read more

Everyone at car star is super nice. Makes dealing with the inconvenient task of having body work done easier. I had to have the bed panel of my F-250 replaced and it was done on time, and looks great. Just like if the accident never happened. Icing on the cake, my truck was washed and detailed when I got it back. Highly recommend these guys for any body work needs. read more

I had a accident on my vehicle on sunday and my car was ready within less than 5 days with updated via TEXTS like no where do you see that not even in a dealership!!! Joe and everyone here go above and beyond customer service. I definitely would and will recommend my friends and family this place. I did not struggle with rentals or anything Joe even came to my job to drop off something I needed. But apart from that i HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. read more

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE CarStar Collision! They did an amazing job with my vehicle (2018 GMC Terrain Denali), especially the paint job. I will always choose them and no one else. Please whatever you do, go here and don't go anywhere else, CarStar Collision is worth the money! F.Y.I do not take your vehicle to Collision Center on McColl in McAllen. They will butcher your vehicle and make it look 100 times worse then before taking it there. Trust me on this, the reviews speak for itself! I took mine there before going to CarStar Collision and they did an AWFUL job with the repairs and paint work, they said the repairs were over 20,000 dollars and they made the vehicle look like they spent 100 dollars (that's how bad it was). Also, they take (what feels like years) forever to get the vehicle fixed. My vehicle was towed on April 17th and didn't get it back until the end of July and it was still messed up. After being disappointed and frustrated by Collision Center, I asked my insurance (State Farm) if I could get it redone and they said yes. This time I looked at reviews and did my research and CarStar Collision always came out as #1 for the RGV area in Texas. So I decided to take mine there and after getting it re-done, I was EXTREMELY SATISFIED with their work and how they treated me! read more

Joe and collision specialist are the go to body shop in the RGV area. My 2014 BMW X5 MSport was involved in an accident in December. I immediately brought it to his shop, even though my insurance had another preferred shop. The car has low mileage and in excellent condition. With that, I requested that no after market parts or reconditioned parts be used on the repairs. When the insurance tried to get him to use non-oem parts and Joe fought them and ensured new OEM parts were used throughout the repairs. As far as the repairs go, the body alignment and paint are as good as new. Friends that saw the vehicle before the accident have commented on how well the repairs look. Any issue that needed to be taken care of after vehicle delivery, were handled promptly and with no questions asked. This was not a cheap repair, totaling close to $20,000. Hopefully, I don't have go through this again... but if I do this will be the only place I bring my vehicles. read more

I received great customer service. The front desk receptionist was very helpful and attentive she made me feel very comfortable leaving my car with them. I was able to receive text message alerts letting me know of the progress with my car and it was very fast. They set up my rental and got everything under control. I got my car back, the owner went over the details of the repair with me and if anything was wrong or I wasn't happy with the repair it had warranty. I took my Prius in after getting rear ended, and from the beginning to end, I was informed of the whole process, and treated with the most respect.The owner Joe Cantu really goes out of his way to make sure his customers understand the process/options and are treated right. I hope my car doesn't need any more surgery, but if it does, I will definitely be returning to Collision Specialists. My experience with Collision Specialists has been amazing. Mr. Cantu is very warm and professional. Stephanie at the reception desk is very accommodating. They even arranged for my car rental. The time frame for the repair was reasonable considering the damage sustained by my vehicle. And when I got my 4Runner back, it was spotless, all the damage has been taken care of, and the detailing was exceptional. I can't say anything but compliments for Mr. Cantu and his staff. I had such a great experience with Collision Specialists. I took my Ford Fusion after it had been hit in a parking lot. Geico insurance (other person insurance) was a pain in the behind on getting the full amount owed for the damages but Michael did an amazing job making sure I received my vehicle the day it was supposed to be released. I felt like I had a new car again. You can't even notice the scratch/dent from the accident. It looks brand new. I definitely recommend this place. :) They did an outstanding job on my vehicle!! Worst worst place! I made the mistake of trusting the good reviews I read on this place. It took them 5 months to repair my vehicle only to have a crap job done. I've taken it back twice and am going to take it back a third time for issues with the repairs. The owner knows how to talk so he'll say anything to make his company sound better than it is. He guaranteed me 100% satisfactory job and he would get it back to pre accident condition. Total lie! It seems like they just do a mediocre job in order to get paid and to get the customer out of their hands and into their "lifetime warranty". I'm sure they chose lifetime because of the job they do initially they know it's gonna need repairs sooner or later. If your car is extensively damaged I suggest you look for a better repair shop because this one isn't cut out for extensive damages. read more
