My 2010 Toyota Sienna was leaking a small amount of oil. I took it to Toyota Dealership in Harlingen and they said that the engine gasket was the cause of the leak. They said that the engine had to be dropped and it required 22 hours of work for a total cost of $4,900. On August 7 2025, Acclaimed Auto Mechanic Angel figured out that the cause of the leak was the oil filter housing cap. He replaced it in 1 hour and for a total cost of $264.11 (oil and oil filter included). My advice, take your vehicle to Acclaimed Auto and you will save time and money. read more

This review is for a customer service interaction with the owner and mechanic and my satisfaction with their response. Previously, I towed my Dodge Challenger R/T to their facility to repair a busted water pump. They performed the repair and finished the service as promised. A month or more later I returned with a follow-up question about the service. They were attentive, and went above and beyond expectations to make sure I felt satisfied with their service. I have been taking my car to Acclaimed Auto Service for about 12 years. Everyone at the shop is great--polite and pleasant. Ben, the owner, never talks down to me for any reason even though I know absolutely nothing about cars. He explains what needs to be done and tells me my options. Sometimes, as a woman who knows very little about cars, I can feel at risk of being taken advantage of--not here, not with Ben. He's an honest, kind, man who tries to help anyway he can. It's nice to know that we still have independent businessmen here in the valley and not just the big national chains. I also like that he gives teachers, nurses, and veteran's a small discount and routinely suggest him to new faculty at my school. I have always used this company when I have needed a car serviced. As a woman its nice to know a business that gives you honest information. I took my car in for what I thought needed a repair and was told it was not needed and was something else easily managed. When other companies may have charged for a service that was not needed, Ben and his mechanic told me the truth and that is unusual in this day and age when most want to make a quick buck. I started coming here due to my workplace highly recommending it. My fiancé recently took my vehicle to test if the battery was going out because there's a slight lag when turning it on. Mr. Abbot (the owner) drove it around to test it, he apparently saw a Costco sticker from when I got my TIRES ROTATED and he told my fiancé to take our business elsewhere because we weren't being "loyal" to him! And he got upset that my fiancé decided to change the battery himself. RIDICULOUS! First off, Abbot doesn't rotate tires and secondly, Costco doesn't even do oil changes. My fiancé called me and I heard Abbot speaking to him very poorly. Extremely disappointed!!! We will be taking our business elsewhere FOR SURE!!! read more

I am very pleased with the customer service given by the on-site owner Ben Abbitt and his technicians! I called with a concern towards my car and was immediately welcomed to come over in order to diagnose the problem. As soon as I got there I was assisted and given friendly service. My car came off their lot fixed and able to run smoothly. I appreciate the reassurance of receiving an honest opinion on what was best to do about my car. Many mechanics try to oversell here in the RGV but Acclaimed Auto Service is definitely a place to go if you're looking for workers that go by integrity within a job well done. UPDATE: Ben, you talk about safety, yet you never wore a mask while we were there, your workers did Your words "Let me add clarity to your comments" That statement is arrogant in itself, like my words were not the truth and needed to be changed! You state that your mechanic has 25 years online experience, he is only in his 30's. So he has online experience. So you are saying he has been on the computer since 1995. Online experience is a computer term. How long has he been working on cars? So with all that experience he was blowing out the flames with his mouth??? I told him that would not work, and go, get a fire extinguisher!! He did not even know where it was, he was looking around for one. I said, "Do you even have one." ( In your response, you stated that he had one ready..) He ran across the room after I prodded him, like a burro, to go get something to put it out. He did not have anything ready. Your mechanic was shocked that my car was on fire, he was immobile, a statue. That is my problem with this place. You are arrogant and you lie. My car was able to drive, If the car was expected to flare, then why do you say a fire extinguisher was ready, when it was not?? What about the puddle that the mechanic quickly mopped up after the fire extinguisher was used. It was a powder based spray, not green liquid. The leak was there all night, and no one checked. Why did the mechanic tell me not to worry about the puddle and quickly mopped it up, before you could see it?? When I went into the other room, to tell you about the fire, all you said is that your mechanic will take care of it. You never even came in to check. You were even mad, because I interrupted you. Remember you were in a room with no lights on, and hovered over the computer, like some adolecent kid getting caught doing something his mother would be sad about. You had no interest that a fire had just occured in your garage. What owner is like that? I was never on the highway. The flame that occured before I brought it to you was only 1 inch high. I put it out with 1/4 of a tiny bottle of water. I did call the fire department, but they said it was just a small drip of liquid on a electric cable. The car was not overheating, all functions on the car were fine. It was able to be driven. I was in a commercial parking lot, not the highway. I just wanted to make sure that the small leak was fixed, AND I had my family with me, so I had it towed. It was still drivable. You state that you tried to reach me, but you put your response to my review, just after we talked to you. Because you tried to scam me, and not take any responsability, I let AAA and my insurance take care of this, so do not put this off, like you were not communicated with. The damage was not wear and tear, it is a Honda Touring car with under 110,000 miles. The insurance just does not want to pay out the large amount you want to charge me. The INSURANCE COMPANY stated that the bill should be $423 yet you want me to pay $2500. What damage was caused by the fire that your mechanic expected, but was not ready for? You insulted my wife and me with your ongoing arrogance. I was talking to you, and my wife stated something to you, and your response was, "He can talk for himself can't he? Why are you talking?" Is that the way to treat a Minister and his wife of 23 years. Then when she started to speak Spanish, you said " I cannot listen to this" You then walked away to get your mechanic to listen to my wife. You were acting disgusted and offended because she chose to speak Spanish to you. Yet you have been working in the valley for at least 29 years and you are offended when someone speaks Spanish? What hate group are you a part of? This is very odd behavior to me, as I have been here in the valley only 4 years, but to me that was very racist. ( I am white, so I know what I am talking about) Also when you pointed at my wife, and she pointed back at you when we asked if your insurance was going to cover any of the repair. You then again pointed at my wife and said, " Don't you point your finger at me woman!! Also you leaned toward her, to intimidate her. Why would a business owner do such a thing? I am very happy with the service I was provided here. I went to the dealership first and was told they needed to replace entire systems on my car, and that it would cost 9 grand, almost as much as I paid for the car. I felt I was getting scammed so I looked for a second opinion and thank god I did because it turned out that I just needed one small part replaced. The owner really helped me out and cleared my anxiety that my car was otherwise completely fine. In the future if there's anymore problems I plan to come here as I have full trust in their business. read more
