Lino's Automatic Transmission was recommended to me by my "primary auto healthcare provider" (mechanic) -- someone I trust implicitly. Because of the confidence I have in my "PAHCP," I felt comfortable taking my SUV to Lino's. My vehicle had been experiencing a shudder in the transmission -- a lack of smoothness when changing gears. Lino's checked it out and, rather than jumping straight to replacing the torque converter, suggested starting with a transmission fluid change and a high-quality additive. I had already done some online research and asked about a product called Shudder Fixx, but the mechanic explained that it can cause sludge buildup and recommended a better alternative. That's the route we took, and I noticed on the way home the shuddering has completely stopped. While inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic also noticed (and showed me a photo of) a damaged CV joint boot -- it had a hole that would soon cause the joint to lose lubricant and fail. I saw it for myself and agreed it needed replacement, so they handled that repair as well. Lino's is located on 29th Street in McAllen, just north of Business 83. Parking can be a little tight, as the lot is usually full of cars, but you can pull into the first gate and park where possible. After check-in, they'll move your vehicle as needed. The waiting area isn't fancy, but it's clean, air-conditioned, and comfortable, with a TV and remote available. Lino's prices are fair, and their service is honest and professional. I wanted reliable, and that's exactly what I got. I was sure I had ruined my transmission by letting my problems with it go unattended for so long. And so it should have. But apparently there was a leak and my transmission fluid was nonexistent. I filled it up halfway and showed up at Lino's the next morning. They spent a couple of hours looking for the leak but couldn't find it. I was asked to drive my car around regularly for the rest of the day, and bring it back the next day. They did find the leak, fixed it, but were unable to explain why I hadn't ruined the car. The cost to fix the leak was small compared to the alternative of having to fix or replace the transmission. They recommended I drop by any morning in the next few weeks or so so they could check my car's transmission again. I'll be there. Whew! My 2010 Toyota Tundra was making a rattle-tapping noise every once in a while. I asked a friend who is a mechanic and he referred me to Lino's, because of their specialty in transmissions. Mr. Lino was very clear and specific on what the problem could be. He told me that by just changing the transmission oil, it might resolve the problem. However, if it didn't, I was looking at a more expensive repair. We opted for the oil change, knowing that if it didn't work, I would have to pay more. I appreciated his honesty and explanation. He could have gone with the more expensive option to make more money, but he gave me two options. It worked and the oil change was all I needed! Just purchased a 86' Ford F-150, the transmission was not working properly, had to shift gears manually on an automatic. Checked with several shops and was told to fix would run in the high hundreds, researched shops around town and Lino's was the HIGHEST RATED SHOP!! Now I know why! am very disappointed. they had my car for 3 weeks to fix the overheating and a/c repair and the later i took it for the same reason 3 more times and i left it there for fews days more and i ended up renting a car those times and i ended up paying little over $1,000 for renting one for many days, they were informed the shop too. am still having issues, if you are planning to have ur car fix there, i suggest to be on top of them because if u don't then they will get to it later and might take days. they are very disorganized. read more

Lino's transmission shop is awesome! I had been having trouble with my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 and was about to take it to the dealership. On a recommendation by another very reputable shop, I took it to Lino's. I spoke to Lino himself and was very honest and had he and another tech look it over. Within minutes they diagnosed the issue. The front drive shaft was messing up and could cause serious issues to my transmission and truck and maybe an accident. They took the part off and I was able to go pick up the part at the local Orielly's store with their help. Within that hour, the truck was running great and smooth! 1. Lino Jr is a jerk; he yells at you like youre wasting his time, and doesnt listen to what the problem is 2. They kept my truck for a week because they "had trouble finding the part." I found it and bought it in 15 minutes from Amazon. They didnt even bother calling to let me know there was a delay. So I had to go buy my own parts for them. 3. I told Lino Jr and his Service Writer that I was having bad shifts, and the shift linkage was stuck. 4. A week later I have to call THEM to ask if my truck is ready. I go pick it up; they BOTH say "we didnt check the shift linkage, we didnt know." 5. They only reset my Engine Code light. Five miles down the road, bad shifts again and the light is back on. STAY AWAY FROM LINO's!! read more

Wow! This transmission shop is the best in RGV. I had to replace my transmission on my 2014 Sierra and I was scared to take it to a shop for install. I called around and found this shop. I talked to Lino the owner directly and we went over the issues with my truck. He was extremely knowledgeable in transmission work and has been doing it for over 30 years or so. I noticed he had several city vehicles in his lot getting ready to be worked on so I knew I found the right spot. I purshased a new transmission and had it shipped to his shop. He took my truck and in a matter or days, he called me up and told me it was ready. The new transmission worked perfectly. It's been several months now and not a single issue. Lino was honest about pricing and honest about what was needed to get my truck working perfectly again. I highly recommend this shop for transmission services.
