I recently went to the Ironwood Stadium Cinema and had a very enjoyable time. It doesn't look like much from the front, nor was there a lot of parking, but the inside of the theater was roomy and very pleasant. There were very few people there for the matinee on a Thursday morning, so we had our choice of seating. The seats were very comfortable also. I will definitely go back! read more

We love this theater! It's a little run down as far as seating (not uncomfortable, just old), but the tickets are so reasonable and the staff is always so kind. We had an excellent experience with one of the managers, Autumn. Probably the best customer service experience I've had in a long time... she answered all my questions with patience and went above and beyond to ensure we were able to buy tickets ahead of time and understood how the process worked. Also, their popcorn is always so yummy. Concessions are pretty reasonable as far as movie theaters go. read more

I decided to take my family and friends to see the Meg 2. Instead of seeing previews of upcoming fun movies that would be rated pg-13 or pg this theater decided to show R rated previews that were absolutely disgusting. Movie gowers removed themselves from the theater because of the garbage being shown. It was brought to the manager who refused to provide his name and also refused to provide the theater managers name because he was told he was not allowed to. I lost my cool a little bit but this was the most ridiculous thing I have seen. There is a reason we go to galaxy in Carson. We will not be returning to this theater. read more

This theatre is always clean, the facilities are well cared for, and the staff is always friendly. We frequent this theatre for those reasons, as well as the great popcorn. Today we knew it would be busy since the kids are out of school and families are visiting, so we were prepared for a crowd. There were three people behind the counter trying to handle the room full of movie goers. It was great to see the team working together, even though at least one was new, and to see them handle it all quickly and with a friendly attitude. The crowd even responded to their efforts by being polite and patient. Ironwood is one of our local businesses who will always have our support! I was disgusted with this theater! We walked in and there was popcorn and trash all over the floor. When we got to our seats, it was even worse. The place was thrashed, looked like they had not cleaned the theater in a couple days. The seats were broken and missing the handrails leaving the metal brackets exposed. Really love having this theater in town and from my experience is well run and adequately staffed. I wish the choice of movies was broader, sometimes seems to reflect a certain political bent. Like the current showing of the essential church. Really? I was looking forward to the new Maggie Smith movie, I saw it on the schedule one day and within a week it was gone. Stephanie the manager said the movie started at 6:30pm despite what everything online listed at 6:45pm. She tried to make me feel dumb and like an idiot and that the times were wrong. I decided to leave since obviously the theater can't even get it's times online synced properly. Upon leaving, I looked at the front where the movies and times are listed and sure enough the movie was listed as starting at 6:45pm. I went back inside and showed this to the manager who seemed surprised and then confirmed that yes, it started at 6:45pm. The manager assured she would start the movie over since she had started it 15 minutes early. The exact same thing happened to another customer. Upon getting into the theater, it was completely empty and we were the only customers, and the movie had not been restarted. It was at a 20 or 30 minute mark based on the particular movie. The second customer hadn't even arrived yet either and was buying popcorn. I went back to the front and requested to the manager to restart the movie. She said she did, but this was impossible because it was at the 20 or 30 minute mark. I asked if she can restart the movie including the previews (trailers) because between the only two sets of customers, almost $100 was spent on tickets, popcorn, concessions, etc. The manager Stephanie then proceeded to fight and mock me sarcastically and rudely: "REAAAALLLY?! YOU WANT ME TO RESTART IT. THE TRAILERS?! YOU WANT TO WATCH THE TRAILERS? REEEEALLLLY?!" As if it was a huge inconvenience to restart a movie she started 15 minutes early and clearly goofed on when we were the only 4 customers in the theater and just paid to watch it. She stomped off to restart it. When she restarted it, it was not restarted with the trailers. I had a feeling she was angry because she wanted to close the theater early and lying about the movie starting early was her attempt to get us to leave, but when we corrected her and wanted to see it and restart it due to her mistake, she was angry that she'd have to stay vs closing early. Halfway through the movie the fire alarm went off ruining the movie. I had a weird feeling she was going to try to sabotage it based on her previous attitude so I'm guessing she pulled it in attempt to clear the theater so she could go home. I came out and requested a full refund. She became belligerent and extremely rude, cursing at me and my 60 year old mother who simply told her she was being rude and asked for the owner's name. We requested a refund and she said the registers were closed. Sounds like laziness to me. I mentioned we should call Douglas Sheriff and have them respond to her belligerent attitude for a resolution and all of a sudden she was quick to open the registers and provide us with a cash refund. She continued to insult us and even went as low as insulting the clothes I was wearing. We've been going to this theater for over 20 years. She said she was the manager for 6 years. If the owner is reading this, I would very much like to talk to you about your manager because your business will be ruined with someone like this running it and I can't believe this person was hired to begin with nor would keep this job for so long. I can't imagine this is the first time she has acted like this either. I have recorded video of her screaming at customers, cursing, being uncooperative, unhelpful, and belligerent that I would like to show you as the owner. I heard the owner's name is Jim Shehan, so if Jim could get in contact with me, I'd like to explain in person or via phone or email what's going on with your business when you aren't around. It's absolutely appalling and I will never go back to this theater unless that person is removed from management or seriously retrained to take their job and business and customers in a friendly and professional manner. For people reading this, the negative reviews are spot on with what I've experienced. It's worth the extra 10 minutes to drive to the Fandango theater for much better facility and management that is mature and cares about a customer experience. Very disappointed. If they actually made this a nice place to go I wouldn't pass them on the way to Carson City. Sell or get investors to give this community a nice place to see a movie. read more

Gayle and I occasionally go the movies here and have had a few memorable experiences. The first time was when I first met her and was in the middle of some disagreement with my ex-wife. As I was explaining it to Gayle, she decided that she had heard enough, got out of the car, slammed the door hard, and walked off.. That experience reminded me of the wisdom to put things in perspective and get on with life. Sometime later, some new popular and kid-friendly movie had just out and Gayle insisted that we show up an hour before the Noon show time to avoid the Hordes. And since we were in Nevada, I thought she said Whores. So when we arrived at an almost empty theater and parking lot, we were both a bit embarrassed! read more

Went to view a movie last night. was early so went into the theater with the lights on. it was disgusting. stained carpets floor molding coming up creating a tripping hazard dirty seats garbage all over the floor.the partition wall between the theater seats and the stairwell look like it had been wet from a roof leak have not been in this theater for about a 2 years. I don't know what happened to it. The air inside the theater smelled very dirty and foul. I don't know what's going on with this place but I will never go back and I don't think anyone should either read more

Unfortunately, we had some heating issues for the theater when I was there and it was crazy hot for a bit then cooled off as the movie started, but it remained warmer than expected the whole time. I really do like this theater but I went there on Wednesday to watch a movie with my daughter. Granted we did get there about 5 minutes before the movie started, but there was a line of about 8 people trying to buy tickets. There were only two people working. There was also a line at the concession. The two people were trying to help us all but when you're selling tickets then asking you if you want something from the snack bar that held up the line. We could have easily left the line and just walked into the theater since you don't have anyone taking the tickets. Very disappointed read more

This place has seriously gone downhill. I dont know if the Galexy Theater in Carson just wiped them out of business or if they just stopped caring. Either way this theater seems to be on its last leg. First of all they only offer 3 different show times for each movie. A 12ish a 5ish and an 8ish. Most theaters have upwards of at least 5 showings a day. The interior is old and out dated. It definitely needs some TLC. The chairs are quite uncomfortable and the screens have little defects in them that for a Obsessive Compulsive like myself its hard to ignore. I can seriously see this theater shutting down in 6 months to a year if it doesnt do something to bring back their business. I hope they do. It would be a shame to lose the only theater in town. read more

Ok so I'm not going to say who was working or what movie I saw because your employees gave 2 lame ass moms a really funny night. So we went to a 630 showing and sat back a few minutes after the movie to chat and then proceeded to leave. It was a slow night in the theater. When we got out we realized it was eerily quiet and oddly dark. As we worked our way through the theater we realized all the patrons and employees were gone and they forgot we were in the movie theater. Yes, we were locked into the movie theater all by ourselves. Luckily we are super honest. We took videos and selfies in front of the dark theater and laughed for days. Thank you Ironwood for giving 2 lame moms a story to remember forever. Ironwood will always remind me of weekends during middle school and high school when it was "the place" to be (since it was one of the only places to be). This was long before Galaxy Fandango arrived on the scene and stole much of the Minden/Gardnerville business away. I've moved since then, but I do like to frequent Ironwood whenever I visit my father. Now, when I go into the theatre, it seems far less busy than I remember. Nonetheless, the service is still very friendly. The people running the show may be a little slow, but the smile is always there and I always feel welcome whenever I come in. I wish they had later movie times (6:30 or 7 p.m. seems to be the latest show they offer now) and a more diverse selection of films, but I suppose I cannot ask for too much from a small-town theatre. Ironwood is pretty small and rightly so as there aren't that many people in Minden and Gardnerville to fill a movie theater with. This was the only acceptable theater around until the Casino Fandango put a Galaxy in their backyard. Now it serves as a more convenient, if somewhat less agreeable, alternative to Galaxy. It was recently revamped to allow payment by credit card. Positive: *Staff is pretty cool in that they don't harry you about ticket stubs after they've already seen your ticket once. *Snacks are fairly reasonable for a movie theater. *You can buy advance tickets in person. Negative: *General lack of midnight showings for big movie premiers due to Minden/Gardnerville's small population and the competition from the larger Galaxy theater in Carson City. *This theater's website does not offer an online ticket purchasing feature. *Outside food and drink is prohibited, so I have to sneak my Starbucks into the movies, a risky endeavor considering the combination of beverage and messenger bag. Overall I like the accessibility of this theater as it is a good fifteen minutes closer to me than the Galaxy in Carson. It's not a nicely maintained as Galaxy, but it's worth the saved fuel. read more

I went to the movie Late Night, they had captions on in Spanish!. It's not a foreign film and the captions were in the way of the movie. Right at eye level, with 3 people in the movie and no Spanish speaking costumers in the theatre there was need for this, it was distracting and the movie was in English to start with. What am I missing? I guess I'm not their target market. I will not be back. It was not advertised as a Spanish captioned movie. read more

Went to watch Dead Pool, which was a great movie....until the best part near the end went black. Had to go ask to have it fixed and then when we asked the manager if we could have passes to see it again, since they didn't rewind what we missed, which appeared to be the best part, he just shook his head and threw them at me...young guy with beard. Christmas day checked online for showtimes but to be sure the "cinema" was open called to double check times which were different than the online show times. Drove 40 miles to see Joy at 12:45 pm only to find they were not opening until the 3 pm showing! This info came to us and the disappointed crowd by the Ironwood janitor! Lots of Christmas grumbling about the stupidity of the management. Have had bad experiences in the past with the wrong movie showing that we paid to see and a movie starting and stopping during the showing. read more

I have come this place for around 15-20 years. Still nice to have a local theater. Nothing has been upgraded, & is kind of run down. Very due for some renovations! Young staff is very nice. Matinee prices are great for families. Just wish they would put some money into stepping up the business. May be Galaxy is just taking to many people to Carson to watch movies. Big bummer. I went here last week and saw the new James Bond movie "Skyfall". The sound was good, place was clean, no complaints. Prices of snacks were very high, but it's like that at all movie theaters these days. The movie-theater was medium/small sized, but it was nice. Screen size was just right, nice and big. First time, & last time. Went into #1 1/2 hr before show started it had to be at least 85 degrees in there, told the attendent & she said she turned it off!!!! Its the only theatre in town so its this or nothing. The theater is a bit dated not terribly so. I'm sure during the 90s this place was the pinnacle of the movie going experience but scaled down for a small town. The theatre is not usually packed and the quality of presentation is good. Sometimes the staff is a bit immature and rude but what can you expect out of a shifting workforce made up of high school kids? I didn't grow up here so I don't have any nostalgia biasing me. Went there on Sunday for a 12:40pm movie. The house lights stayed on for the first half of the movie. Tried to get help with no success. When movie was over lights didn't come on. They are having trouble with management of this theater. Will not go back. read more
