It's a no-frills, chill cafe where you can get some great coffee and just hang out. I loved the vibe in here - boho, down to earth, peaceful. Mostly street parking outside on the main street, but walkable from the nearby neighborhoods, some shops, and some restaurants. We walked over from a nearby restaurant after having lunch. There's a handful of tables and stools inside if you plan to stick around for awhile. It looked like they even had a small table outside in the back. I ordered an iced latte with whole milk and added some honey on my own at their condiments counter. I know it's a pretty standard latte, but this one was prob my fav coffee of the my trip in Vancouver. The coffee beans were beanin' and the flavor of the coffee was really so good and not too bitter. Service was quick and I didn't have to wait long at all for my drink. A great find in the area if you're looking for a delicious drink!

For my 16oz latte, the server offered 2 to 4 shots of espresso! It was so potent with 3 shots. I wondered if I would have stayed up all night had I went for 4. Servers were very nice and cheerful. Not too much. Just right. I like the music too. They don't play the coffee shop jazz. It was perfect for my work. So glad I tried this place. I was shocked that my mocha was sweetened just enough, that for once I did not have to add sugar. What a beautiful rich mug of mocha. Continental Coffee House is a total treasure and I am thrilled to find out they have a location on Commercial too! I will be checking that location out for sure.

It was fairly quiet with a few customers at around 9am. The place looked bright and welcoming. The baked goods looked delicious and I spied many pistachio items. There was even a honey cake! I missed having that. As I am off sweets for a while now (everything tasted overly sweet to me), I settled for a bacon cheese croissant and regular coffee. Order and pay at the counter, they will bring the food over. The croissant was nice and flaky. The coffee was also good, not tart or acidic at all. The cream in coffee made it pretty smooth. What made it 5-star was the vibe and service/owner/customers. This place has the friendly neighborhood chill vibe where it is a cross between "Friends" and "Cheers". Shortly after I sat down, the cafe began to fill up. I saw a guy got up from his table to move to a smaller one when a bigger group came in on his own accord. He then told the group to take his table. The owner knows the regular customers by names and sight. The other regulars know each other as I saw people stopping at other tables greeting and chatting with each other. They even pulled up chairs and have an impromptu gabfest. They were not loud at all. What a nice thing to witness. Not a soulless cafe where customers are plugged into their laptops or with headphones. I will need to come back again to try the other stuff. Plus I'm pretty surprised at how good the regular coffee is. Most places' drip coffee has a sour/acidic aftertaste and this doesn't.

Honestly, there isn't a single thing I didn't like. The space has changed a bit over the past few years. Part of it now is retail and the other half is the café. It still has the cozy charm and there's even outdoor seating which is perfect for summer. Yesterday, I chatted with the barista and learned that the owner/pastry chef trained in Paris. That might explain why everything tastes so amazing!

So, I walked and at first thought I could order just about any drink on the menu and that it would just be restricted to a certain size. Well, it turns out the bday freebie from Blenz is limited to certain types of drinks. It doesn't apply to a lot of the specialty drinks. Teas, tea lattes, coffees...those are the kinds of drinks that you can get with the bday freebie. I really should have read the fine print first before trying to order but I was hot and thirsty. The brain was not braining...the brain only knew one thing, which was that I was thirsty! The guy working at the counter though was very kind and patient. I sometimes worry that people are going to give me poor service cuz when I walk in to claim something for free, and don't spend money on anything else while I'm there. When someone can still be kind, friendly, helpful and patient with me even though I'm not spending any money there...that is excellent service to me, and that makes me more likely to wanna come back at a future point in time and spend money in the shop when it's not my bday. So...hats off to the guy at this Blenz who pointed out the fine print on the bday offer to me; then made me my free bday beverage and served it to me with a smile. That said, the sandwich was fantastic: the bread was perfect, and the chicken and melted cheese were great, with a good ratio to the Dijon and other condiments, too. Just a fresh, delicious sandwich. Bathroom is small but clean and well stocked. Good little local go-to joint for a fast meal or coffee break.

It was nice to sit…read moreon the comfy seats near the wall, enjoy the soft music in the background and the 'frothy' sounds from the coffee machine. It was just the vibe I was looking for. I asked for some advice from the server about what drink to get. I asked her which one was her favourite. She was really friendly and recommended the matcha drinks. I was in the mood for something with coffee flavour and luckily there was a matcha latte! The flavour was just right, and she even brought it directly to my table rather than calling it out and having me stand up to go get it. It was just a nice touch to the experience. I was able to enjoy my drink and read my book / write in my journal in peace! Peace is really what I needed today. I'm glad I was able to find it here :)
