My fiancé and I bought our membership a few months ago and we are so glad we did! We absolutely love this spot. All the employees are nice and inviting, which is always a huge plus. Also, all of the staff seems to have an adequate amount of wine knowledge which we really appreciate. My husband and I love this place, so much we became members! It's nice to come and grab a glass of wine before heading off to dinner in the village. I always order at the bar and the customer service is great! We also enjoy this place because we can bring the dog and the baby! My only negative thing is do not order the cheese plate! The pours can be sporadically small. It would be nice to not feel jipped at times and feel like we shouldn't leave a tip.

I am so glad my girlfriend mentioned this place to me, otherwise I don't know if I would have found it. Kyle waited on a few girlfriends and I and we had the best time. He was very attentive and extremely helpful with wine recommendations. They have a great wine club too! $35 a month, you get a bottle of wine and a free tasting for you and a guest ( not sure if this is one a month, once a week, or every time you come in) but nevertheless, it's a good deal! I showed up to have drinks with a friend. She mentioned it took them 4-6 minutes just to greet her and were quite confused when she asked for a drink menu. When I showed up, I waited 15+ minutes and they never came to our table; we had to go to the bar. I was immensely disappointed to learn they didn't even have a small food menu for snacks. Went to Carlsbad location for the first time last month. We were with a member and the service, atmosphere, experience was fantastic. Kyle was pouring - welcoming, informative, engaging - I signed up as a member right away. Happy to invest in a great new addition to the Carlsbad Village. Went for our second visit last night, to taste some options to start on holiday stock up and pick up my monthly bottle. It was somewhat full, but a few of the bar top long tables open, spots at the bar. We were completely ignored for a long while, had to call someone over... 4 people behind the bar, 2 women, 2 men. A lot of money counting, cash everywhere (weird) and a single, rushed, sloppy pour with not a single word or welcome or about the wine. Left without making the purchases we planned, my monthly bottle in hand and a disappointed feeling about the dramatic decline of service quality in a place I was so hopeful about, and willing to invest in. read more

I enjoy wine tasting with friends and have been to many places in the area. I wanted to come to Carruth since I saw it on Yelp. I was excited that the village has another wine option. However, I was less than impressed with every aspect of our visit. We ordered a flight, and the pours were beyond small and inconsistent. We tried several types, and honestly I did not like any of them. However, the service was the determining factor in this review. They were relatively busy on a Saturday night, but we could still have received some attention from the staff. We grabbed our first taste and grabbed a table right outside. They came and served other people at the table but did not give us any attention. That was OK, since we expected to have to come back to the bar to get our next taste. However, every time we went to the bar we waited 15 minutes with no acknowledgment from the waitstaff at all. With four pours left we asked if we could do a triple pour because we were so tired of waiting for every taste. The waitress said they don't usually do. I commented that we were doing it because we were tired of the time it was taking for Service, and she said well that's what you expect when you get a flight. That's just part of the experience. I have had many flights of wine; you sip slowly, you talk with your friends, but you don't wait that long between pours. In addition, there is something called the customer is always right. Apparently at Carruth the motto is we argue with the customer. I won't be back to this bar, and I won't recommend it to my friends. It's a shame since there are so many other nice spots in the village. read more

I admit Im a bit of a picky wine snob but this place has DELICIOUS red wines! My husband and I finally popped in Sat night while waiting for a table at Campfire next door (they text u when your table is ready). The baristas were super laid back and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. The atmosphere is small intimate but plenty of standing and sitting space. We will definitely come back!!! Love how Carlsbad is growing lately. read more
