WOW! What a fun day! Seriously, I cannot stress this enough... WHAT A FUN DAY! Sean is a great host and he scheduled a full day of brewery visits - most of them we had never been to. The van is clean and he had it stocked with water and chips for us. We brought our own beer and snacks so we ate and drank all day even when we were on the road. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We had a wonderful time last night celebrating my husband's birthday. Sean is a great host, with a fun personality and showed us a great time. We hit three breweries, and despite COVID were able to enjoy beer, food and even live music! Jacked Up was a great choice, and my husband loved how Sean arranged for a behind the scenes guided tour. The music was great, it was refreshing to see a band play! Hidden Barrel Tours is DEFINITELY the way to go for your future beer and wine tasting adventures. Sean's V Dub van was nostalgic and the perfect way to tool around town safely. Thanks Sean for a fantastic night!

We had so much fun during our birthday celebration. Sean was amazing, he had the van decorated the cooler full and available for us the store our goodies. The music was fun. He was an awesome host! A well deserved 5 stars!

The last stop on the tour. Cheers to an amazing day!

Hidden Barrel Tours is the best. I called Miguel after the tour had already been booked by another in my party with a special request that I really didn't think he'd go for. I was surprising the one that booked the tour with our friend from out of state that she hadn't seen in quite a while. The only problem was the tour was booked at 11am and our friend's plane didn't land until 12! I asked Miguel if he would be willing to go along with the surprise and call the one that booked it the morning of our the night before to let her know that he would be running late and we wouldn't get started until 1:30pm. He agreed to go along with it! It worked out perfectly! Our surprise went off beautifully & the 4 of us got to go on the tour! We had the best time and it was the perfect way to begin our girl's trip: in the back of a VW bus going from winery to winery, enjoying the beautiful landscapes, wines and friends laughter. We started at Orfila, which has owls on the property to act as exterminators and has really good dark reds. My favorites were the 2018 Petite Sirah & the Lagrein. Second, we went to Belle Marie- which has a recreation of a castle on site. Here, we started with delicious champagne (which we bought some of!) & Miguel brought out snack boxes for us at this point. These were great! He even accommodated our food allergies to dairy and gluten! The boxes included: almonds, olives, pickles, strawberries, dark chocolate, crackers, pretzels and honey. We ate these while sipping the tasting flight at Belle Marie, my favorite being the Screaming Chief Malbec. Last, we ended at Cheval. This was so special because we got to stay the tour by the animal stables and got to hang out with some beautiful horses. Then inside, we tasted some whites and reds, with my favorite being the Merlot. Miguel was a safe driver, played classic rock on the radio we were all goofily singing along with, and even provided water and snacks. We will definitely do this again the next time we plan a fun trip in San Diego and we all highly recommend Hidden Barrel Tours for everyone that wants to have a good time and not worry about driving after the tastings! Cheers, Miguel!

    The VW bus was rockin!!!

Wow! This was a fun get together for me and a small group of friends. Sean, the owner, tailored the trip to my group with fun and saftey in mind. The individual snack packs he prepared were perfect between stops! It felt very safe with all the COVID precautions being taken and Sean's safe driving and fun guidance from stop to stop. Each brewery was very welcoming. Some had samples, some provided a tour. Great fun overall! It was clear that Hidden Barrel Tours put alot of planning into making our day go smooth and ensuring our group was welcomed at every stop. The VW bus was so comfortable inside and felt authenticly retro. Was a fun way to roll out! I am excited to do it again soon!!!

    Great times in the vineyards!

Found this company a couple months ago when inquiring about a wine tour to Valle de Guadalupe…read more Unfortunately, they were booked out but Jane was kind enough to not only connect me with another person in the industry who could offer the tour location we wanted AND offer us a package for a different location. I was truly blown away by her transparency and her communication so I decided to proceed with her company. It was super easy to coordinate the logistics and itinerary. Not only was the itinerary perfectly curated, but she went above and beyond to make my group feel celebrated and appreciated. She congratulated my group on our accomplishments and even got me a cute "bride" headband to celebrate my recent engagement. Very sweet and thoughtful! In addition, safety is clearly a top priority. The date we chose happened to be an extremely hot day and Jane took initiative to rearrange our itinerary to make sure we could still enjoy the day and keep as cool as possible. Lunch was catered from a local farm to table local business and it was absolutely delicious- definitely make sure you have enough appetite to enjoy it! We also paid extra for a wine and cheese pairing and we are SO glad we did. Some things to consider/ tips: 1. Our day started a little rocky due to inevitable traffic and a wrong turn, but Jane quickly resolved the issue with the driver and we had a great time moving forward. If you have the option to board your shuttle early definitely do it. 2. Time at each winery is pretty limited.. you won't have too much time to take all the photos you'd like AND sit and enjoy your tastings per winery visit.. if you're determined to get a good selection of photos bring your glass with you and do your best to keep up with those just tasting. There were a few moments we felt a bit rushed because we wanted to do both. 3. If music selection on your shuttle is important to you, have the person in charge of tunes arrive to the shuttle early to set up the blue tooth. It was trickier to set up than we aniticpated so there was a good 20 minutes of silence and troubleshooting happening as we were on the road Overall, Jane is a SUPERB host and does everything in her power to make sure you have the best experience. If i wasn't moving soon I'd definitely want to book this experience again!

Perfect to be on a mountain top in the sunshine sifting through rocks and hunting for gems. The Oceanview mine works in finding a number of different quartz, Tourmoline, and other gems. Take a look at their website. For $75 for an adult, you get all the equipment that you need to sift through rock and gravel piles which they set out for you. There are a big tables, the two grades of sorters, a bucket, trowel, and toothbrush to clean off rocks. Also a big tray of water to rinse your rocks in and clean them off. There were igneous rocks with black tourmaline and tiny pieces of garnet. It was a lot of fun. You have to get there promptly at the opening time in order to get situated and the digging/sorting/sifting begins sharp at 10 AM. You have three hours and 45 minutes to go through all the rocks that you want. Bring your own gloves! They also have shaded umbrellas, and 5 gallon buckets to purchase that you can load up with rocks to sift through on your own at home. While it was a fun adventure, and I've never been to a quarry mine that you could actually look for your own gems, the staff did leave a little to training, although they were very good about going around and assisting you. However, I think if you really want to find something, you need to educate yourself ahead of time as to what you are looking for and what is available. Five minute presentation to 50 people wouldn't you can't even really look at the rocks and no handout or guide sheet for reference was a drawback. They don't take credit cards for the entrance. You have to pay cash. Children are a lower price. But they do take credit cards for memorabilia, gemstones that they have turned into jewelry and other items. And also for the rentals. I thought the purchasing of a 5 gallon bucket for $10 was too much. They don't make it clear that if you want to take home a 5 gallon bucket of extra stones to sort through then you can bring your own. I thought for the price of $75 a 5 gallon bucket would be included. They are not. There are picnic tables in the shade where you can have your own lunch, there is a grill you can use if you want to utilize that. Bring all of your own beverages, water, and snacks and meal. There is a short tour that you can take of the areas that they mine on this mountain. You load up on a four wheel vehicle that holds six people and spin around the mountainside, stopping at the entrance of three of the mine shafts. This is only about a 5 to 7 minute tour. They don't allow you to stop get out and take pictures in front of the mine openings. This was certainly a drawback. They could've extended the "tour" to let you get out and take pictures in front of the mine shafts. Perhaps it is a liability issue I don't know. I would not do this for a second time since I've already done it, without further educating myself about gem hunting and what exactly I was looking for. But for a one time adventure, it was fun and we had a beautiful spring day. Don't forget your sunblock and sunglasses and hat!

The drive up to the Pala Chief dig site was not too difficult. Our tesla with a low suspension could do it. The tutorial from the staff was quick, and the 4 hour dig time was definitely enough. By the end it got really hot; so definitely bring a hat and a lot of water. It had rained a couple days before, so we found a bunch of tourmalines on the surface. My best find was a 50 gram blue cap pink tourmaline that I found near the top of the mountain. Found a bunch of pinks, some greens, some blue ones, and a bunch of large quartz pieces.
