I would rate it more stars because the food is good, but 2 major things happened that threw me off: 1- inconsistent food (I ordered the same thing twice in a week and the second time the rice was old and it wasn't very good. I couldn't even finish it & I hate wasting food.) 2- Orders before closing time. Even half an hour before they close they refuse to take orders if you call. You have to do it through UberEats. This place is awful... first there is nothing express about it, it took 20 min for my bowl to be ready with 4 people working and just me and another customer. The staff barely engages with you. The food is very basic and overpriced. $29 for piece of salmon, tasteless rice, some odd sweet potatoes and 2 pieces of frozen broccoli. I do not see what is fresh or special about this place. This was our first time here today. We ordered The Fire Wrap and Liv Wrap. Both were excellent but we came in as brand new customers and were looking for recommendations. Not one person could give us any because no one spoke English. There were at least eight people working and not one person spoke English? They said, no English. Come on, you have to do better that. As our order was brought to us, we asked him, which one is The Fire Wrap? He couldn't even understand the question. I have been a fan of Carrot Express for years and have nothing but great reviews for the other locations. I was happy when they opened in Boca and I finally got over there yesterday. The 3 of us were ready to order wraps and were told they only had Gluten Free wraps and they would cost $2.00 extra. I questioned the person behind the counter about this. "I should pay $2 extra for each wrap because you don't have what I want to order from the menu?" Yes, was the reply. This place is already pricey so the extra makes it even more so. But that's not the point; if they don't have what they should, I shouldn't have to pay extra for something I didn't want in the first place. We ordered bottled water, which they don't have, so our only option was the cup of tap water they gave us. My hot food arrived more than 10 minutes before the others got their food. Found this place from a Facebook Ad and boy am I happy I did. My mom, best friend, and I all got something different and every dish was phenomenal. Very fresh! Unique flavors! Creative! Waited 45 minutes for the Liv Wrap which was ridiculous. The kid at the register was overwhelmed and had no idea what he was doing. I honestly felt bad for him. The chicken was chewy. I would not order the chicken here even though they say it's hormone free. It tasted very fake to me. Anyway, the employees were giving free cookies and carrot cake away for people who were waiting long except they didn't offer me 1 hahaha. I ended up returning the chicken wrap and they offered me something else on the menu. Maybe it's 2 new and they are trying to figure it out? I ordered a salad and asked for no avocado or tomatoes and they told me there's no avocados in the salad, but i know it's in there because i've had the salad a lot. She didn't tell us certain sides were extra and was overall rude, like she really didn't want to be there. Went there today after going to my hairdresser's next door. What a find. People were friendly and the manager/owner (?)behind the front desk was checking the quality of the food and very helpful. I got the açaí bowl for my daughter which she gobbled up and the carrot cake was delicious. I also got the falafel wrap and mahi mahi wrap. Fresh ingredients you can see and not just stuffed with mush or slop. The previous place was a bit odd, but I thought I'd try it again this time with the new vendor. Will be going back again. BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW: the food is 10/10 every time no doubt about it. Green goddess salad, chicken platter, tostones, soup, turkey burger, chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries all incredible. I've practically gone thru the menu between my boyfriend and I. Here's where it gets bad... the people working at the carrot express in boca are the rudest most miserable humans on the face of the earth. I'm just trying to get my food and get out of there 100% of the time because the staff is so unpleasant that it makes me uncomfortable to even call In my food and have to speak with someone. They treat you worse than an Hermes SA. I've been greeted by nicer individuals at the DMV. I wish i could say it's one individual but it is quite literally the entire staff. So maybe hire some new smiling faces? Or increase the quality of the establishment in the employees benefit? I don't know. But something has to change.
