I didn't realize the problem until after the work was done, when soft, spongy areas began showing up. When I raised concerns, I received only verbal reassurances, no inspection report, no photos, no documentation at all to prove the subfloor had been properly assessed. Floorgate's crew was difficult to communicate with, and it's unclear whether they were even instructed to inspect the subfloor. Professional contractors document their work and this crew did not. Don't assume they'll flag issues that can affect your flooring long-term. If you choose to work with Floorgate, get everything in writing and confirm inspections yourself. The next message invited me to call Joshua Diaz-Blanks, so I did. My call went to voicemail, I left a message, and I never heard back despite calling during their posted business hours on Saturday. Before they closed on Saturday, I texted Joshua. His response was that his grandmother was in the hospital and might not make it. I was sympathetic, offered prayers, and told him we could reconnect Monday or later if he needed more time. Then nothing. No follow-up, no update, no communication at all. On Monday, I walked into Banner Carpets on Artesia instead and purchased what I needed. It was a small $1,300 job, but small jobs add up and reliable service matters.
