The food is plentiful and wonderful. However... we were not seated in the main dining room. We were brought to an auxiliary room on the west side of the building. The most dominant feature of the room was the white interior sloped ceiling, barn-like wood paneling occupying about two-thirds of the horizontal portion of the walls, and a few coffee mugs and small photos resting atop the paneling. There was a small casement window in the center of the southwest wall. This room had all the charm and natural light of a church basement in Indiana. The comparison to the main dining room is stark. The main room has a view of the grill, and is filled with all the syrup and souvenirs they could possibly fit into the space. The main room is as funky and fun as the auxiliary room is sad and depressing. Will we go back to Maple Sugar & Vermont Spice? Absolutely. The food and service was wonderful. We ended up picking up a bear playing hockey who we named Zook 'Five for Fighting' Bear and he's a treasure. Great price too. We chatted with the woman behind the counter and found out her husband creates all the ice cream flavors. He's a genius! We got a small cheesecake key lime pie in a cup to go and ate it within probably five minutes. We were pigs, I admit it. We almost went back but behaved. If you love interesting, well made flavors then you have to try this place.
