Receipt

We ordered 2 combo meals (2 choices of meat and 2 sides). It was pouring rain, and we'd already been waiting in line for at least 10 minutes for folks in front of us, so when it was our turn to order, we ordered fast, wanting to get out of the downpour. It was my bad for not asking the price of the combos. After we ran back to the car with our food, I noticed the price in my receipt that was texted to me via Square. Each combo was $24!!! And sadly, none of it tasted good either. I really wanted to love this food truck, but it just didn't happen. The sauce didn't taste like barbecue sauce, but more like tomato paste. The meat (pulled pork and beef brisket) was lukewarm, and the 2 sides were so bad I couldn't eat them. One side was coleslaw, which was basically just chopped cabbage soaked in some vinegar, and the other was braised greens which were super crunchy and tasted barely cooked at all, and without any flavor. I was left still hungry and really disappointed, feeling like I wasted a good amount of money.

Good flavor terrible value

Ordered nachos from food truck at a brewery. I didn't mind $18.15 spending on good food. The product disappointed. As pictured, the serving dish was double ply, which you can see limits the amount of actual food. The quality and flavor was there but the presentation and volume were disappointing. The tip was automatic so we didn't have an opportunity to weigh in, thus doing so here on yelp. This just feels like a poor business model. Overpriced for what we got. This felt like an $8 or $10 max plate of nachos. We won't revisit this option. Flavor was great!!!

Tried the food truck at the NIH. Mac and cheese is drier than a piece of cardboard and doesn't even taste like they put salt in it. $10 for a bowl of dry macaroni

2 meat over chili and mac & cheese. Too much sauce!

I wanted to believe but was unfortunately sorely disappointed. Maybe I was over ambitious in ordering the two-meat chili mac and cheese. It was similarly over ambitious for my stomache. I couldn't taste much of the chili except a bothering thick, murky, tomato vinegar flavor that didn't go well with everything and didn't let me taste the meat. The brisket was mostly adhered in one clump to a thick piece of gristle, so I ended up forgoing most of it. The chicken and the mac and cheese were the rare, much needed respites from the intense chili and sauce, though I couldn't tell what they tasted like individually. I couldn't finish the dish, and it ran through my body almost immediately. I'd be curious to see what the meat is like when it's left bare, without all these extra fixins. Stay tuned for an update if I ever get that courage.

the new truck!

One of my favorite food trucks, hands down. Maybe it's their four awesome sauces (just get them in any combination - there's a Memphis sweet, NC vinegar, hot Mustard, and a habanero hot). Just get any combo of their sauces on on the pulled pork sandwich and call it a day. The bread is fluffy and substantial, but this sandwich definitely needs to be eaten with a fork after the juices have sank in. I've also had the chopped brisket (pretty good, but can be a bit dry), and my friends who have tried to smoked chicken love it. Btw, their vinegar based cole slaw is simply amazing! The only other side they offer is baked beans, which I haven't tried. Basically, you can get a huge, tasty, satisfying meal for $8-13. And you don't have to wait for your smoker all day. What I love most about Carnivore is their customer service! They now take credit card, and always serve with a smile. Also, they are one of the most consistent trucks in terms of food quality (food is always the right temperature, the pulled pork I got this week tastes like the one I got last week). Additionally, ever since they upgraded from their little pickup to a full sized food truck, they've gotten more efficient and don't run out of items.

Pulled Pork

This was some great BBQ that you can smell from a few blocks away. The Meat - Extremely tender, smoked and slow cooked to perfection. The brisket has a great smoky flavor, but is quite fatty. The pulled pork is extremely juicy and full of flavor. The Sauces - Memphis is a sweet delicious sauce that you can't get enough of. I like to mix it with the Mustard spicy sauce (pitmaster's choice) and the combo is heavenly. The Slaw - vinegar based slaw, seasoned well and adds a refreshing taste. The Bun - the buns are pretty weak. But since the portions are massive, you are eating your "sandwich" with a fork and knife anyways, so it's easy to look passed the buns. Lines are pretty long, so expect to wait a bit. Definitely worth the wait though.

Beef Brisket

Had the beef brisket and was not impressed with it at all. It was insanely over-priced at $11, especially considering the fact that they serve it on an awful, tough, bland and unappetizing bun that they probably got at the grocery store for a quarter. For that money, it should have came with a side of loaded smoked beans. As for the brisket itself, it was mediocre at best. It was unevenly cooked, with some pieces being tender while others were tough and chewy. On top of that, the meat was very fatty, in fact one whole piece that I started eating was all fat and I had to spit it out. The best part of the meal was the Memphis barbecue sauce. It wasn't amazing and didn't have much kick to it but it had nice flavor. Adding a spicy hot sauce would probably make a sweet combination, although I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

Swimming in fat. They didn't drain the brisket. Hard to eat.
James D.

I ordered the Mac Attack with brisket. And while the the brisket and macaroni were very good at their base.... it was ruined because they didn't drain the brisket. It was swimming in fat. I might eat here again and give them another chance.... But I'll ask they not ladle half a cup of fat into the tray.

Pulled pork with Memphis and (spicy) Mustard sauces, served with slaw on a bun - $11 with tax. Delicious!

I tried this truck simply because it had the longest line, so I figured that must be a good sign. It was! Took about 15 minutes with 10 people in front of me. I got the pulled pork with the Memphis and Mustard sauces, on a bun with the slaw. The serving was so large, I expected to save half for later ... But it was too delicious for that and I finished it off. Great choice for a hearty lunch if you're deciding between food truck options!

Pulled pork with mac. Coleslaw on the side. Hate it on my sandwich.

The staff was helpful, courteous, and always had a smile. They were very attentive to our needs. When someone spilled a drink all over the floor and they cleaned it up very quickly. Also the quality of the food was great as we had fish and chicken which were cooked perfectly. They were up front with all of the billing and exactly what services they would provide. They followed our instructions to the letter. We also had some people at our event with allergies and they made sure they were helped out by making sure their food was safe. The event flow was great too. Also when we were out taking pictures in the hot sun, they offered us water and appetizers which was very thoughtful (we didn't ask them to do this). We had a great wedding day and it couldn't have happened without The Prime Choice. Thanks so much for such a great event!

I was a nervous bride, but from the onset Dave reassured me and did his best in calming my nervous. He dealt with all the issues that arose at the venue, and on the wedding day he and his staff were attentive and very professional. The food (we had a sit down meal consisting of salmon and sirloin steak) was good and beautifully presented. We purchased their package deal which included the cake (Clara's Cakes) and photography (Lidia Miller's Photography). They both far exceed my exception. Our theme was love birds, so Clara designed a cake with shimmery silhouettes of kissing birds around the three tiers and big blossoms of sugar flowers as the topper. It was beautiful! Lidia (the photography) was a godsend! She handled the chaos of the day with a grace and calm. Initially my husband was a irritated because Lidia took so many pictures and had us pose very specifically for each one. At the end, however, we both agree that it was worth it, as we now have a beautiful documentation of our special day. So, if you are looking for a worry-free beautiful reception, this company will not disappoint you. I HIGHLY recommend!!!

She patiently answered all of my questions and made sure my order was correct. I have never ordered from a catering service and I was nervous! I was so impressed that I am doing the happy dance. The brisket was tasty and they even sent over extra gravy for the brisket. The sweet potato and carrot side dish was mouth watering. Even on zoom, my family and I were trying to figure out the ingredients. It was delicious. The chicken soup had large pieces of chicken and carrots. They gave us a large number of matzah balls for the soup too. The chocolate torte was fabulous. I couldn't help from licking the knife as I portioned it out for my family. The delivery was excellent and the delivery person was wearing gloves and a mask. We were missing one item and I called Karla, she had someone deliver it within minutes. The portions were plentiful for 10 people and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend La Prima catering and I won't hesitate to order from them again. Thank you for saving our holiday celebration!

Anyone who's made a proper Passover dinner knows that it isn't for the faint hearted…read more Ya gotta have brisket. I'm not exactly sure why you have to have brisket. I'd totally be fine with a nice prime rib one year... but you have to have brisket. Your meal also must include no leavaners... rising agents... yeast... anything like that. Then you have to have *Charoset (basically an apple and nut salad) *Horseradish *It'd be weird to not have gefilte fish *100 other things Basically it's a pain in the neck. So just the thought of trying to shop and get all of these things in the current climate was mind numbing. La Prima Catering to the rescue! Luckily I am part of a group where local restaurants and food services are posting info and I caught wind that La Prima was taking last minute orders for Passover. The price was right, the meal sounded delicious, and the woman Karla even reached out to me after I asked a question on the message board. It was clear she was responsive. Let me tell you! They really killed it, to be honest. Everything we got was fantastic. The brisket was super tender and they included a TON of extra gravy like my mother had asked for. The matzo ball soup was quite good with tons of fresh hand shredded chicken pieces. The tzimmes (which I had never had before) was indulgent with a rich depth of sweetness that in itself deserves 5 stars. The meal also included charoset (I prefer mine with a little more wine flavor). And the flourless chocolate cake which was chocolate decadence in every way shape and form. It was rich, and chocolatey, and it was honestly a mousse like consistency which I didn't mind one bit. It was the perfect finish. Me and my fam did our first virtual Passover like many of us around the nation and it went really well. I might honestly lobby for us to just order from La Prima next year to save one of us the hassle. I would be totally fine making like one thing (maybe a potato kugel) and getting the rest from La Prima. It was that good. Thank you La Prima. Thank you for saving our Passover. Thank you for dealing with my Jewish mother (she's the one that ordered). And thank you for putting a lot of love into that food you sent. It really made our holiday.
