Carne Asada

This was definitely some of the best Mexican food I ever had and the staff were so nice and helpful. Special shoutout to Walter!

Al Pastor tacos. Added an additional taco. Yuka fritas. Guacamole. Iced tea.

Tried Carnitas Michoacan for lunch. My husband and I split it. Ordered the Al Pastor for $7.99. It comes with 3 tacos, no sides. Also ordered an additional taco for $3.50, Yuca frita $3.50, Guacamole $2.00 and a small unsweetened tea for $1.99. I know I'm the minority here, but I did not enjoy the tacos at all. They were very oily and lacked flavor. The Yuka frita were delicious! Crispy on the outside, and soft in the center. The dipping sauce that they come with, is okay. It's a mayonnaise base...tasted somewhat like Mac sauce. The guacamole is obviously homemade and very good, but would've been nice to have some chips with, even if they raised the price for 'chips and guac'. The unsweetened tea had a nice balanced flavor. My overall impression is meh. Mainly because I didn't enjoy the main course; the tacos. But also because I found their prices to be quite high, compared to the competition, for a drive thru taco joint. I paid over $20 for 4 tacos, some yuka fritas and a small iced tea. For a comparison, I can go to my local Mexican restaurant and order 2 iced teas with unlimited refills, flaming hot fajitas with beans and rice, and unlimited chips and salsa, for about the same price. And this place wants a tip for drive thru service. No. My husband didn't like it either. I think I was a bit more forgiving than him. It just wasn't for us.

Menu has a lot of great choices if you are looking for authentic food.

As I was driving down the road I saw this place didn't have a sign so it piqued my curiosity because I saw two women outside looking like they were enjoying their food. So I had to pull over and check it out. At first glance it doesn't look like much is going on here because it's a small place that has a drive through service window and a small foyer in side that is just large enough to see the menu and place your order. The seating is outside. I ordered two things, (El paisa and fried yuca) which came out to 21.30. Sounds like a hefty price at first but that was definitely enough food for two people. I will easily have two large meals out of this. Now for the flavor. Everything was delicious...can't say any more about this. My yuca was nice and crispy, just the way I like it. If I want good Mexican / South American style food, I will definitely come here. I highly recommend this place.

We ordered cheese enchiladas, chile rellenos, asada tacos, a fajita plate with all the different meats including chorizo chicken and steak. Most of our group got rice and beans on the side which were pretty good. My issue lies with the cheese - instead of Monterey or shoot, even cheddar! They used some type of American cheese (like white Kraft slices) in ALL THEIR FOOD - that's right, ALL OF IT! American cheese on the beans, in the enchilada, in the chile relleno, and yes - EVEN THE ASADA TACOS!!! I was SO bummed. Other than the food that we'll never come back for again, the service was really good - our server was a young smiley gal - VERY sweet. She spoke both English and Spanish seamlessly transitioning when speaking with our party. The tables and chairs are covered in artistic decor that's very beautiful and decorative. The walls have murals of the Mexican flag and it's really pretty inside - great vibe all around. I got the impression this place was more of a bar hang out - though the drinks were 16$ a pop on special while the tacos were 1$ on a taco Tuesday - there were still A LOT of people sitting in at the bar. Looked like a good time. Someone in our group ordered a dragonfruit margarita and he said it was REALLY good! Well made. So I can see why people would come for the drinks. Unfortunately we will not be returning because the American cheese situation ruined the taste of 80% of the food.

I ordered a strawberry margarita, which arrived in an impressively large beer mug. The presentation was unexpected, but the margarita itself was enjoyable. For my entrée, I chose the beef burrito. It was generously portioned and flavorful, making it a satisfying choice. The young man who served me was attentive and provided friendly, efficient service throughout the meal. Dessert was not available during my visit, as the restaurant had run out. While this was disappointing, it was understandable. Overall, I would rate the restaurant three stars. The limited drink options and lack of dessert kept the experience from earning a higher rating. If half-star ratings were available, however, I would give it 3 1/2 stars. With a broader bar selection and desserts on hand, the meal could have been even more enjoyable.

Seating is a little crowded if you are the tables but the booths are roomy and comfortable. The food is good. You get the white sauce with your free chips and salsa which is a nice twist. I had El Rey Fajitas which was a massive portion of food. My wife had an empanada and enchilada but we did not like the empanada much. It had a plastic flavor to it. Service was excellent. The waitress kept our drinks filled and brought out several different homemade hot sauces to try. It's a nice place to stop at and I'd eat here again, but it's not my favorite Mexican dining experience. At least not yet!

I alternate between steak and Al Pastore. The rest of the menu is huge. You can also mix and match. Since they're street tacos, they're small. The burritos are not what you get at Taco Bell. They're huge and you will have to knife-and-fork them. When I saw them open in 2020, my first thought was, "This place is going to die for opening during a pandemic." It replaced a restaurant that was killed by the pandemic. It took a few months before I went inside and wow. I think they're thriving. The people are really nice with a few holdovers from the previous establishment. I've gone several times and I'm overwhelmed by the hospitality of Rueben, Nancy, Olivia, Dan, Jennifer, etc. If you have a problem with your food, say something and they'll fix it. Well today we came for a Sunday usual and were sat down quickly as always--I immediately knew something was different. Hots chips but bland salsa. New menus, a few new booths, and to our surprise no white sauce. Asked the waiter and exactly what I thought--new management. Well that's always a little off -- we took our chances and ordered our usual items. Carnitas, fajita quesadillas, quesabirria, street tacos (Al pastor y carnitas) --well the taste was way different--not terrible food but definitely not the same food. This was expected once we heard new management because I mean you're not going to have the recipes but the rice was a little overcooked, the consomme was oily, the tacos not the same flavor, the carnitas had more tomatillo and oil than carnitas. The location was still clean and friendly--quick service. But I may not be making my routine Sunday dinners here.
