My review is a review of the staff, especially this one very rude waitress named Jasmine who became very bitchy and rude with my wife, because she asked for a printed receipt and it was slapped down in front of her with a "There". My wife and I, booked a reservation for the weekend at the Tropicana Laughlin, for my birthday. As always, we've always enjoyed eating at Carnegies Cafe. Howevever, from the first night eating dinner there, we noticed definitely not the same place. Our first hostess, had no pleasantry, no friendliness, no nothing, just said "Follow Me". We thought okay. And the staff as a whole, just had no sense of urgency whether fully packed or slightly slow and empty. They all basically were the most unfriendliest slow bunch of waitress's around. We do have two incividuals that stood out from the rest. As we had dinner on our last night, we were waited on by "DJ". His service was on point, perfect, and the absolute best. The rest of your staff should be managed by this wonderman man of a waiter. The second wonderful person to wait on us, was the morning of our leaving, her name was Cherrl. She was also great and treats everyone like family. We were pleased to have her so wonderfully end our time on such a good note. We got three ten dollars vouchers from play casino. We went into the Carnegie. The first impression we got was like we were asking for free food. We didn't see her name but if you, management check our check #(62015) you will know who is the cashier. Once we got our food my husband asked for jalapeño she was just not even bothered with his question. Just not kind of customer service we expected. read more

Breakfast and dinner here were both great. Service was great both meals. The breakfast seems a little pricey for what you get and getting charged $3 for cheese added to my Denver omelette was definitely too high. Dinner was really tasty. The side salads are very large and good. The fried chicken dinner and ribeye were both very delicious. Service at breakfast and dinner were fast and friendly. They accept comps as well. read more

Standard cafe fare for Laughlin, but if you look at the menu you can basically get a second meal for a dollar. Works great for couples, or friends (as long as you keep it to even numbers). Food was above average, with the meatloaf being a standout. Ray served our group and hustled all night long, although he did show some reluctance to visit the bar for mixed drinks. Beer and sodas were no problem. Don't put a mixed drink menu on the table, if it's really not available. read more

Saw a banner advertising "buy one meal and the 2nd is $1." Not worth it. Not a lot of options for the deal. Had the meatloaf...looked like something that came from a factory and not a restaurant. Greated by a mean looking brunette woman who seated us but seemed annoyed to do so. We both thanked her but she hurriedly walked away. Our meals were just barely okay. My BLT was just ok, the bread was toasted to much and dry as our Mojave desert and was dangerous to the roof of my mouth and the fries were cold. Hubbys grilled chicken sandwich was flavorless but we ordered more ranch to save it. 5 thick cold onion rings needed ranch to save them. Didn't know the extra ranch was extra and came in tiny cups half full. But our lil older server was absolutely great!! She had a great bubbly personality and was running circles around the younger ladies. She was the highlight of our visit. Wish I had asked for her name. Lastly the brunette with long hair who was the greeter/cashier was rude and has no personality at all. Tried to make pleasant conversation but she wasn't interested. She looked like she wanted to cuss us out or something. She looked angry. Just her attitude alone will stop us from coming back. For the most part all of our dishes were pretty good. Great value considering you're in a casino. The one very down side is we had two in our party that ordered the corn beef hash. One came out well cooked but the other came hardly cooked at all and was almost raw. Maybe an odd moment by the chef but it left our group unwilling to come back. read more

Way better than I expected! Service was fast and friendly. Coffee was fresh--served with a carafe at the table for quick refills. Prices are decent for a casino. Ambiance is casino cafe, clean and comfortable but nothing exciting. The chicken fried steak breakfast was very basic and certainly not extravagantly presented, but it was tasty and hit the spot. I would have no problem ordering this again. It was a good and convenient spot for us to have breakfast, especially since we stayed at The Trop. Will definitely try them again. read more

The breakfast was delicious!!! Can't go wrong with a simple Farmers Breakfast, Country Fried Steak and Eggs, Veggie Omelette, and the Deuces Wild...not a bad price for being inside a casino. Our waitress Eva was really friendly and passed by often to make sure we were doing ok. Would definitely come back for another round of breakfast. Dined here a week ago while visiting Laughlin for a few days. Fair meal. I had breakfast for dinner, bacon and scrambled eggs with hash browns and sourdough toast. Service, by Rhonda I believe, was attentive and friendly. Ambiance could be spruced up some, it's quite open to the casino floor, and not in a good way. read more

Excellent service! No waiting as the waitress was handling everything! She was amazing, I can't remember her name, she was seating people, ringing up customers and taking orders and serving food simultaneously. My food was fresh and delicious! I love that I can use my food credit here. You can also order to go, although they do charge $2 extra for to go orders. Carnegies is one of my favorites when in Laughlin! read more

I went to this restaurant yesterday (10/23). I ordered the pan Asian. It was basically a bowl of rice with a tiny piece of chicken. I went to go pay and have the bill charged to my room and the pen that the manager gave to me didn't work. I tried to have a little mark and before I tried to tell the manager, he literally called me illiterate to me. When I was filled out the rest of the information, him and a guest was belittling me about how I don't know cursive writing. Ate there twice. Both times ordered BLT w Fries. Asked for gravy for my fries and a couple of pickles. Great meal. Gravy fries are hard to find around here. Went back a third time. Waiter told me gravy was $3 and pickles were $3. Asked the manager why am i being charged for condiments. She said, "well you don't expect us to give away stuff for free.". Said they would only charge me $3 instead of $6. When I looked at the bill there was a $3 charge for peanut butter. Seems like the computer didn't have an entry for pickles of gravy and she made it up. The gravy came in the same contained you get for salsa at a Mexican place. People like this should not be managing restaurants they should be delivering newspapers at 4a.m. read more

The service was great but the food was another story. They have a breakfast buffet that is $9.99 if you have a Caesars rewards card. For the Saturday buffet, the blueberry pancakes were advertised as fluffy, but were flat thin and uninspired. Absolutely worst potatoes I've ever had, little squares that were not crispy or soft, but we're actually chewy, a horrible texture that I couldn't force myself to eat. They had some yogurt and canned fruit and some dry cereal out, but no milk. I asked if I could have milk for the cereal and they said that would be an additional charge. The cereal is only to be used for topping for the yogurt they said. The waitress was nice and apologetic about the food and comped our iced teas which would've normally been $3.99 each and even gave us tea to go. My wife tried the biscuits and gravy and said the biscuits were hard. Do yourself a favor and don't do the breakfast buffet here.! read more

There's no way it should be a 30 minute wait to be seated when I'm by myself and 80% of the tables are empty. They are seriously short staffed and slow . You obviously have enough business because there was a group of 3 in front of me, a group of 7 in front of me, and a group of about 6 behind me that all walked away except the group of 3 that got seated, because of the wait. If you're staying here better to order to go. I was already downstairs and irritated so I just went to the poolside Café, which has really delicious breakfast sandwiches because I was not waiting 30 minutes when I'm by myself! if I knew that I could've ordered to go from upstairs in my room and came down when it was ready. I do not recommend sitting down inside unless you don't mind waiting extremely long to be seated and slow service. This place is in the tropicana Laughlin hotel. Breakfast is pretty good and not bad prices. Ham steak comes with hash browns and toast which I opted out of. Not a bad place to grab a bite to eat if you're staying here. read more

I keep seeing not so great reviews about this place. I've gone here a few times over the years and although I much prefer the décor they had before, the food was still good. It's not a 5 star restaurant and people shouldn't go in there thinking it is. Too each there own. Sherri (I really hope I got her name correctly) was absolutely amazing and welcoming. Her whole vibe was genuine. She made us laugh and she dealt with my table of 5 that couldn't get it together when it came to ordering food. My husband ordered country fried steak (he's very picky about that meal in particular as it's his favorite to order at restaurants) he surprised that it was actually good. I got the turkey clubhouse sandwich and yea I know you can't mess that up but it was really damn good and my fries were good. I don't remember what everyone else ordered. We went to Carnegie's for the Labor day weekend. We were a party of 16, the supervisor was wonderful in accommodating a large party. Both the supervisor and hostess on Sunday morning (9/1) provided exceptional customer service. Out waitress, Eva, on the other hand was quite rude and lacked customer service skills. To begin, when she initially introduced herself and began taking our order, I mentioned we would be splitting the bill, since the supervisor had already asked, and made it seem as though it was okay. EVA immediately said "I can't, it's too many of you." When I mentioned the supervisor was aware she said," well you would need to be sitting next to those you are paying for." "So are you sitting together?' When I said no. She said then I can't. Next, I asked her to start taking drink ordersnon the other side, and that too was a problem because ,"she has to go in a certain order." Although what she was saying seemed logical, her tone and rude disposition wasn't. Then when we were ordering, she constantly had something to say, or correct us about. The problem I have with her bad customer service is that 1. EVA is the employee, and I feel as though she forgets that her customers are vacationing, trying to relax, and in our case, we came together in remembrance of our father/grandfather who passed 4 years ago on 9/1. 2. My sister jn law mentioned Eva was their server last year, and was equally as rude affecting their overall vacation experience. 3. EVA was guaranteed her gratuity of $60 because of our group size. Therefore, providing a nice and welcoming dining experience didn't seem important to her considering her Gratuity was set - so we basically had to pay it even if we weren't treated like the goldown, professional, patents and adults that we are. I feel as though employees need to be reminded that good customer service is essential for customer satisfaction and to ensure that customers Have a pleasant vacation! I chose to do this review in hopes that leadership can take a moment to Talk to Eva and remind her of the cafe's and the hotel's mission and values. The food was good, the ambience was good, restaurant was clean, and what I most enjoyed was seeing other waitresses and the supervisor with a smile on their faces and ensuring that their customers had a wonderful dining experience. EVA, customers are not your children and not beneath you. Instead, they are the ones who provide you with your livelihood. Best of luck. Don't bother. We thought to eat here will staying at the Tropicana but the cattle style entry and order system ruined our appetite. Seemed very "Walmart". Walked over the the bakery in the hotel and the food was acceptable, the cashier wasn't. If you work in the service industry, try to at least fake being pleasant. Not going to repeat my business in this antiquated, run down, poorly laid out establishment again. read more

Carnegie's has gone through a lot of changes with the rebranding of the Ramada into the Tropicana, the eventual demise of the hotel's train theme, and now the "year of covid" closing and cutbacks - but this restaurant keeps on churning out some great food nonetheless (albeit on an abbreviated menu in light of the current dining restrictions). The country fried steak (whether going for the breakfast or dinner option) was consistently outstanding. Additionally, the burgers and sandwiches we tried were tasty. Being the only open restaurant on-site for the early part of the week, the serving crew members were always pleasant and responsive with refills, despite the abbreviated seating capacity and the back-ups inherent with reopening mandates. Nice work on their team's part, and the reason we had at least one meal there daily during our four-day visit. Thanks for the great food, Carnegie's! read more
