Sitting right on the front row in the middle of the restaurant with a 180 degree view The waiter was well versed on the menu and was very attentive. I was very surprised to find such a great restaurant in Laughlin. This is an old school place. I felt like I was in a time warp from 20 years ago but that was fine by me. The room is dated but super comfortable. We had excellent vies of the river from large windows. The service was spot on and everyone was super knowledgeable of the menu. We had the château Brion for two. It was perfectly cooked and so tender. The house salads were delicious. I wish I saved room for dessert because it sounded delicious and they had over 7 items for dessert. The wine list was large and fair priced. Definitely Laughlin's hidden gem. read more

We try to hit the Gourmet Room at least once a year. Each time, we have always been impressed. Our goal is to either try something outside of our norm, or indulge in something we wouldn't normally eat. This time we did a bit of both. We started with the Baked Brie with berries. Wow!!! Such a combination of tastes that made for an excellent taste on our palettes. After our soup and palette cleanser, I had the surf and turf and my fiancée had the Pasta Rustica. Both were delicious and made perfectly. We then finished with a lava cake, which unfortunately didn't have any lava . A bit of a bummer, but not enough to ruin our experience. As always the service was terrific and our waiter was there for our every need. We were once again lucky to get a window seat and got to see the sunset on the water (or at least the reflection of it since their windows face east). Definitely for an older crowd, but my date and I were super impressed! The location was a little hard to find in the casino, but when we got our food it was all worth it! We had reservations for night time but I wish we got to see the sunset on the water. There are no bad seats in this restaurant, and it was super nice to be seated side by side looking out onto the water. For the $$$ price of the dishes, our food was good! Particularly the beef soup appetizer was very savory and delicious, and we loved the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, though it can get pretty spicy! We also got the Lobster Ravioli, and it came with a ton of pasta...we couldn't even finish! I think I would skip it though, it felt a little bland compared to the Shrimp pasta, especially for the price. My wife and I ordered the Chateaubriand for Two. It was heavenly, and the plates were prepared table side by the waiter. It was nice to find a place in Laughlin where the restaurant ambiance, service, and the food resembled the atmosphere and experience one use to get 30-40 years ago at posh restaurants. I'd almost forgotten the experience. This is Laughlin, folks. But for an hour, I forgot about Laughlin and was transported back in time to another place. This is our first time at the gourmet room. What an amazing first impression. The view right now with the Sun setting is truly breathtaking. Our server John And his assistant Arnold really understand what fine dining entails. The attention to detail was recognized during the entire experience. Can't wait to come back. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here last night. The setting is rather pleasant overlooking the river with the huge panoramic floor to ceiling windows, though they noticeably needed cleaning. The decor and furnishings were stylish, elegant, and comfortable. Food was okay. I might have been more impressed if my entree was actually hot, rather than lukewarm. The maitre de butter wouldn't even melt atop my filet Mignon. The scalloped potatoes were cold and bland as well. My wife was not impressed with the seafood crepes. She couldn't find any scallops in it. Our starters were better. I had a decent lobster bisque and she the house salad with the tasty vinaigrette dressing. Mixed Review Have to say the room is lovely with great views of the river and adjacent foothills, especially at sunset. Had dinner there on 1/22. Waiter was John and was awesome....made a terrific tableside Ceasar salad. However, for the second time in about a month, the kitchen could not get my steak order right. Both times, I requested it cooked medium well (and I know that's a sin to a lot of people). Both times it came back somewhere between rare and medium rare. We took it home, my husband prefers his steak that way. But, as a result, we won't be going back again for dinner. Maybe a wonderful salad, drinks and dessert. read more

The best tables are along the windows that provide a spacious view of the Colorado River and Bullhead City, AZ. On this night we were treated to a moon rise. Charlie is a long time server and provides excellent service. We ordered Filet Mignon, 8 oz. Escargot, Lobster Bisque, Salad and a single 7 oz. Lobster Tail. All of the food was great- we got the Spinach Dip with Artichoke hearts, Insalata Caprese, King Crab legs, Pasta with sausage, Truffle pasta with shrimp, Lobster Ravioli and the 2 best dishes were the scampi app and the scampi pasta. Even though the dining experience was very good overall, we were actually somewhat disappointed in our last visit here. I had to send the first bowl of French Onion Soup Gratinee back to the kitchen because it hardly had any cheese or broth in it, and the large crouton was sunken in the bowl. The replacement was fine. And Red Pepper Bisque with Beef was a nice and well-prepared alternative. Novel Corkscrew Calamari Fritti was good, but the shrimps in Shrimp Cocktail Supreme were chewy this time. An included Salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing and Blue Cheese Crumbles was as good as ever. And my entree of Chicken Cordon Brie was an unusual but tasty change of pace. Diane's entree of Les Coquilles Saint Jacques was good but with smaller shrimps and scallops than previously provided. Service was very good, and the ambiance excellent. read more

The Ambiance was very good. The restaurant looks over the river and we had a very comfortable table. They brought out warm bread and the Caesar salad was made for us table right at the table. We watched them at other tables making some very nice salads and entrees. But what really caught my eye was the server making Cafe Diablo at a table near by. I definitely want to try this someday. So we ordered the seafood tower as an entree to share. Well shame on us. Not sure why would think this a place to order seafood. The whole thing was fishy smelling, the one of the oysters was missing and one was milky looking. We told the assistant server but they never addressed it. We will definitely go back next time we are in Laughlin but will steer clear of any seafood. They might want to rethink that seafood tower too. Let's start with French onion soup wouldn't order it again it was not hot and the taste was not the best broth I have ever had. The seafood platter was a couple shrimp and crab knuckles shredded crab meat and langoustine not bad. The salad was a spring mix with house dressing. I had the steak Diane tender beef covered in brown gravy and mushrooms wife had the filet both were decent nothing exceptional served with Boc choy baby carrot and a sweet mustard tasting potato. This is our go to for a nice, fancy, delicious meal with a fantastic view. We usually sit right in front of the floor-to-ceiling wall-to-wall windows but were seated in up in a rear booth. We didn't have the view we were expecting but we were hungry and decided to stay in the booth. A storm came in and people ended up being moved away from the windows so it turned out good for us. Apparently, you get the small scoop of sorbet ice cream only if you order and eat the appetizer prior to the main course. Service was fantastic as usual and the food was also very tasty. My family went to dinner at The Gourmet Room and we were blown away by this meal. The service was impeccable, the food quality was incredible and the view of the river was unbeatable. My mom and I ordered the Roasted Rack of Lamb Provençal for two. Our entree was served tableside and our plates were prepared right in front of us. The flavor was absolutely amazing with the lamb cooked to a perfect medium rare. The meat had a subtle Dijon herb crust and rosemary garlic au jus. Nearly all restaurants that offer lamb never provide a mint jelly, which is a to die for pairing with lamb and always overlooked but The Gourmet Room knows this delicious combination is a must have. I thought the best lamb I have ever eaten was at Morton's but this lamb was better by far. Our server Brandon was such a sweetheart and so attentive. We were never made to wait and he made us feel like the only ones in the dining room. I would also like to praise the chef who prepared all of our meals. The bar does serve some appetizers but since we had just ate we did not order any. I actually wished we had eaten there since the appetizers sounded good and prices were reasonable. We were staying at the Riverview Hotel & Casino and was looking for a better meal than buffet and fast food. Got pretty tired of that kind of stuff. The Gourmet Room seemed to fit that bill. Walking in, it's lovely. Wonderful view, great tables and settings. Sigh. Nice. We sit down. We order the shrimp cocktail and receive five sad soggy shrimp laying limp on the plate. Seriously, limp. I have no problem with frozen seafood, but once thawed, it must be taken out of the water and not allowed to soak like a toad in a pond. The cocktail sauce was decent as was the creamy sauce paired with it. Next, was the filet mignon and the lobster plate. Both were paired with the exact same "once was pretty good veg but sat for eons somewhere and are now no longer appealing" veg combo. One carrot, 3 pieces cauliflower and about six chunks of seasoned potato that are now a lukewarm, dried out, overcooked resemblances of a veg that once was alive. The filet mignon was grainy and tasted as if had been sitting in a marinade for so long that the meat fibers had broken down. Flavor was pretty good but couldn't get past that mouth feel. Inedible. The lobster was in the same liquid swimming pool the shrimp had just hopped out of as it was waterlogged as well. Someone thought that if they threw it on a grill the char might cover up a plethora of sins but unfortunately this lobster was a very bad boy, and nothing could hide his faults. Additionally, he had been around the block a few times and the fishy taste was his downfall. Shellfish should NEVER taste fishy. Never ever. We spat that out fast. Our plates were cleared by a young waitstaff that although very courteous, could use additional training. Just clunky but nice. I'll take nice clunky. We forged on and thought surely, surely the Creme Brule will save the day. Uhhhhh... Nope! Don't know which Knorr packet this came from, but it needs to be thrown away. There wasn't a creamy egg custard flavor in sight. It LOOKED like Creme Brule but sure didn't taste like it. Unfortunately, it also left a very off-putting slime that coated the inside of your mouth. Not something I would like to end my meal with. Now. The really bad part. This meal for two cost us $180!!!!! That is with no alcohol. One. Hundred. Eighty. Dollars. Fool me once... read more
