I went to Moon Shadow Restaurant with my family because it was the only dine-in option available at the time. When we arrived, our waitress, Samantha, told us that since we had a large party, she would have to seat us at two separate tables with two separate checks. I said that was fine. However, the restaurant was nearly empty, so I was surprised by how long everything was taking. When it was finally our turn to be seated, Samantha placed us at two tables that were quite far apart. I mentioned that the distance seemed a bit much and asked if we could move to a different table so we could all sit together, especially since we had kids with us. Instead of trying to help, Samantha stormed off angrily and muttered "GOD" under her breath. She then grabbed a tray and started slamming plates and utensils around. It made us extremely uncomfortable, especially because other guests started noticing her attitude toward us. I've dined at many upscale and high-end restaurants, and I've never been treated so disrespectfully. We came out hoping to enjoy a nice time with friends and family, but Samantha's behavior really put a damper on the evening. It was another New Year's Eve, and Diane and I decided to repeat here for dinner, and then view the movie "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" at the Brenden Theatres also inside the Avi Resort & Casino. Both were good choices. This time we began with a meaty Shrimp Cocktail, followed for me by a bowl of unusual Bacon Jalapeno Popper Soup. The soup was smooth and likeable when I ate it, but as I suspected I paid for it much later at home when the high spice level caught up with me. A good Spring Salad with Honey Mustard Dressing and excellent-tasting complimentary Cornbread & Butter rounded out the preliminaries. Then while Diane enjoyed an 8-ounce Lobster Tail served with Drawn Butter, I struggled to finish a special Surf & Turf selection consisting of a 12-ounce Ribeye and 6 Grilled Shrimp augmented by specially ordered Sauteed Mushrooms, Bearnaise Sauce, and Demi-Glace, along with a well-cooked Baked Potato with Butter & Chives, and a few Asparagus Spears. The steak was thin but definitely medium rare as ordered. And I was full after only consuming 3 shrimp. Nevertheless, I could not turn down a slice of Moonshadow Grille's famed 5-Layer Decadent Chocolate Cake. Alas, no ice cream was available this night, but Whipped Cream was substituted without any request by me. And the cake was again delicious standing on its own. The only discordant note of the evening was overcooked Steak Fries. They were replaced but still tasted dead and unfulfilling to Diane. Service by Jesse and his assistant was attentive and outstanding throughout the meal, with Iced Tea refills provided without any need to request them. And booth seating hovering over the main dining room floor was comfortable. New Year's Eve hats and bead necklaces provided by the restaurant contributed to a festive holiday atmosphere. read more

Food was savory to perfection the Crab cakes were amazing and if it wasn't for JEFF our server/Waiter he said to try it with the pickled seaweed which I thought it was just decorations. However wow it gave the crab cakes a crunch and savory taste. Next was the blue cheese bacon salad, that was a cold. Jeff said do the ribeye and im so proud of a great flavor this place has. It's hard to believe that it's been over 13 years since my frist review of Moonshadow Grille. Gone is the buffet but the quality never went away. This was the 3rd year in a row my aunt and myself had Thanksgiving dinner here. We both ordered the traditional turkey dinner $48. Dinner came with white and dark meat, stuffing, green beans, cranberry, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing and it included a salad (Soup was also a choice). Hot rolls and a delicious cornbread was brought out with butter and pumpkin butter before they brought out our salads. I love this place because they have been constantly great. The turkey, both white & dark, has always been tender, moist and flavorful. Everything else was great as well stuffing green beans and mashed potatoes. The gravy had a subtle garlic flavor. Both of use could not finish or food. We also had the choice of pumping or apple pie. Our server asked if we needed some to-go boxes and we said yes. We will be coming down for Christmas dinner. Last year we both ordered their filet mignon. It was so tender you could easily cut it with a spoon. As for their staff? Extremely friendly and helpful. Keep up the great work Moonshadow. read more

Decided to go to Moonshadow Grille to celebrate our brother-in-law's birthday. We received a nice table from Carlos and were able to speak with one another without raising our voices. We've dined at a lot of places in Laughlin and I must say this was one of the best ones; however, not worth the price. The ambiance is nice, small place, clean. You kinda forget you're in a casino. There is no restroom inside the restaurant so you have to go out into the casino. My husband ordered a lobster but it was a tiny lobster. We paid market price at $65 so not worth it. The chefs soup of the day was delicious. He also had the filet mignon with rice pilaf and asparagus. He enjoyed his food. My ribeye and asparagus were good. The baked potato was nothing special but it was good. They do put the topping on right in front of you: butter, sour cream, and chives. We had tiramisu for dessert. First time here. Such a great bunch of folks. Fine dining, fancy table cloths, nice place. Quickly got 2 bottles of chilled water, which tasted great. Then ordered drinks, we got quickly. After ordering we got some nice salads with a basket of assorted breads, including cornbread mini loaves, very nice. We ordered the $55 a couple dinner. What happened? We were here in Feb and really enjoyed our meal. We were there last night celebrating my sisters 65 birthday and the place has taken a bad turn. Steak was tuff. Ribs had no flavor. Dessert was a frozen piece of pie. So very disappointing. We had a party of 10 not one person enjoyed their food. My daughter even had to wait an extra 1/2 hr. for the food she ordered. We wanted a nice sit down meal and so wandered into this little gem. We were seated immediately. By luck we were waited on by two wonderful women who were genuine, polite, helpful and fun. They treated us as though we were friends. The food was very good, no issues at all. Portions abundant and the ambiance subtle and calming. Table cloths and candles. Tidy and clean. The walls are painted with desert motifs done in water colors in a frame that look like windows. We didn't feel rushed and so the meal was relaxing. Very rare these days. Well, I dined at Moonshadow Grille 3 nights in a row. Obvious advice here - it opens at 4, it closes at 8 (crazy early right?!?!) but if you dine before 6 they offer a limited menu (2 meals for $50 or 1 for $25 if you are alone. Hubby and I went to Moonshadows a few nights ago (it was Christmas). He's been here several times and usually has the two for $50 meal, but they had a special Christmas menu last night and (almost) everything was delicious! He ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and green bean casserole and I had the traditional turkey dinner, which came with mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, candied yams and white and dark turkey meat all bathing in gravy. Both of our meals included unlimited fresh bread with apple butter and butter spread, a kale/currant pecan salad, dessert (strawberry shortcake pie, tiramisu or chocolate cake) and a complimentary glass of wine. The portions were very generous. We could have easily shared one entree and been pretty darn full. My plate had about 7 slices of turkey meat and very large portions of all of the sides. The meat was a little on the dry side, but an extra serving of gravy fixed that right up. I'm not a fan of candies yams, but these were delish. It was chunks of yams with a caramelized brown sugar layer. The mashed potatoes didn't taste super cheesy (it was labeled four-cheese mash) but that could have been due to all the gravy. Green beans were good too, flavored well and not too salty. The tiramisu dessert was a large portion too. It was served in a large glass with lady fingers along the glass and the pudding in the middle. I was hoping for more of a cake tiramisu...this was just okay. The salad sounded really tasty on the menu but the honey mustard dressing ruined it for me...it was just too thick and sweet to be on the salad. Hubby said that they usually have a bleu cheese dressing that's to die for that's made in house and fresh daily. The fresh baked bread was crispy on the outside and soft and warm in the middle which made the butter just glide on...so good! They usually have cornbread and we ordered some, but it never came out. No biggie though. The complimentary house wine was decent. I had a glass of Chardonnay and it was a pretty large portion, more like two glasses. Hubby's prime rib was cooked perfectly, it was moist and tasty and came with mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, and dessert as well. We both only ate half and had lunch for the next day. And, all of this was only $74 (pre-tip)....that just seemed like such a great deal considering how much food we ate, and one of the best meals I've had at the Avi. Our server Josh was wonderful. We finally tried it and we had a lovely dinner and a great server( Jesse) ambiance is nice, the only thing I would change would be the music. It needs more fine dining music than some of the upbeat music they were playing. We had the Cadillac Margarita and it was delish. We ordered another cocktail that was good as well. We started with the tempura California rolls, yum . For our entrees my husband ordered the October special of Cajun ribeye - (which I must add was cooked to perfection at medium )and shrimp with a side and some veggies and I ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and you can pick soup or salad with your entree so we picked Caesar salads. We got tiramisu to go and it was really good. Overall a wonderful dining experience and great service - bambi- the busser is on top of it and very pleasant as well. Can't wait to return! I don't leave 5 star reviews often and at a glance I definitely was dreading going to eat here but it was excellent. I am still in shock. The rest of the hotel and casino is pretty much garbage but this place is a hidden gem. Is it upscale ? For the avi yes but honestly they don't even enforce dress code so I wasted a maxi dress lol if you're looking for elegance - it isn't here. If you're looking to upgrade from the feathers cafe and have a good dinner without leaving the casino then this is the place. My fettuccini Alfredo with chicken was flavorful and fresh. The minestrone soup was absolutely incredible and I don't say that easily. The soda was fresh and everything was clean. The bread basket was a little stale but overall I give this place a 9/10 considering where it's located. Waiter Jeff was fantastic - thank you for being so friendly and an excellent server. Also the shrimp scampi was bomb. Ps- you guys need a good dessert like crème Brûlée year round. Your dessert selection bummed me out. read more

Decided to try this restaurant out because some of our friends recommended it. It didn't disappoint. We were dressed casual and went at about 6 pm on a Monday night. It was not busy which made me a little nervous but hey, it was a Monday. So happy we came to try it out. The hostess was friendly and sat us in a nice booth. Our server was a nice gentleman who asked if we had been before. When we told him we haven't been, he went into detail of all their specials and what was offered. Very friendly. We didn't get the 2 for $50 deal and decided on soup, salads and each got our own steak. Everything was delicious and cooked exactly how we liked. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we had steak and some of our sides left over. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you haven't been!
