Then watched for an hour while technician tried to link monitors to car. Could not be done. Brought them to Lexus to try to get them to link. $90 charge to try. Not successful. It seems that they rig it so that after market monitors can't be linked, so that you have to pay for the obscenely overpriced Lexus monitors. Lexus monitors cost $250 each. What does this nearly 400% markup get you? Do they shoot out colorful fireworks while you drive? They are freakin tire pressure monitors. I guess gives you an idea of how much they markup everything else in their service center. How do they arrive at a 400% markup? I mean, I'd bristle at 200%. Ridiculous. They can do it because my dumb ass buys their car and brings it there for service. Absolutely love the car. Hate the feeling of being a sucker every time I service the car. Instead, I was met with high-pressure sales tactics. They claimed the advertised online price was a "mistake," refused to hold the car with a deposit, and pressured me into buying that night. They also offered me next to nothing for my trade-in, then shooed me out without an orientation to the vehicle. I was told I had an option contract, but when I found a better financing rate, my calls were ignored. I was also pressured into buying an extended warranty, when I called Lexus corporate to cancel, I later learned the dealership hadn't submitted the required paperwork and the car was not tagged as certified pre-owned in the system. Emails and calls went unanswered for weeks until I contacted the general manager. If you buy here, make sure you secure outside financing before you walk in. They will relentlessly pressure you to finance through Lexus. The experience was so bad that I now go to Lexus Escondido for all my service instead of returning here. Edit: I forgot to include. They also charge you $2,000 for an "optional" security device which isn't a car alarm and they can't explain what it does- but it's actually not optional.

Dealing with Toyota Carlsbad was hands down the worst car buying experience I've ever had . I know…read moredealerships get a bad rap, but my god, I'll never step foot on to Toyota Carlsbad. A little backstory: I went to a different San Diego Toyota dealership to buy a new truck and trade in my current truck. No hassle, no fuss, I was offered $38K for my truck (KBB range for my truck was $36K-$42K). Unfortunately they didn't have the truck I wanted so I said I'd like to think about it. I left and did some research and saw Toyota Carlsbad had the truck I wanted. And here, our story begins. I called Carlsbad to see if they'd give me a quote for my truck over the phone. Mark was the one who I was transferred to to work out a deal. After going back and forth for over an hour with him and the previous person, he finally gave me a verbal offer of $35K. I told him no thank you, and disclosed a different San Diego Toyota dealership offered me $38K. But if Carlsbad could match or beat that offer, then we can work out a deal for my truck and also buy a new truck. He asked me to text him a picture of the offer when we get off the phone and he'll "see what he can do". So I immediately text him a picture of the offer sheet from the other San Diego Toyota dealership and well as the KBB print out... no response for the rest of the day. I then text him later the next evening because I never heard back from him asking if he can help me. He then responded 3 DAYS LATER with, in short, "drive to Carmax, they pay top dollar. Get a quote, send it to me, and I'll match it". I told him I don't have time to drive to carmax because I work the next several days, but if he can just let me know if he can match or beat the offer from the other San Diego Toyota dealership to let me know and I'll drive over and make the deal because they have the truck I like. He then insisted the rest of the next 2 days via text that I drive to Carmax and he'll match that offer. To humor Mark, I called Carmax during my lunch break and asked if the offer is the same in person versus online because I can't come in person before they close due to work. They said it's the same. So I did their online offer option and the offer was $34K. This is what REALLY makes me angry. Rather than saying yes or no on my other offer to match or beat it, he insisted I go to Carmax. And he WELL KNEW that the offer was $34K, that's why he strategically offered me $35K. And why would he think that him matching an offer at $35K is something that I would entertain when I already proved to him that a different San Diego Toyota dealership offered me 38K?! He then later offered $36K, but I mean what's the point? I explicitly asked him to match or be that offer in order to make a deal. This is the reason why people don't trust car salesman. It's all lies and deception. I feel bad for the people who aren't quick enough to research things on their own and be able to recognize when people are straight lying to them. To end of the story, I went to a different San Diego Toyota dealership and they were amazing (see my other review for that company). They beat the 38K offer. Straightforward, honest transaction. No Carmax sales pitch. Just honest conversation and easy transaction. Two Toyota dealerships out of the three never mentioned Carmax once. And without using the overused statements like "How's it going folks?"... Justin was in the middle of checking some information posted on a vehicle, and he acknowledged us. In a very approachable way. Did not immediately get the thought that he looked at us with dollar signs in his eyes. I get it. It's a job, and you're there to make money for yourself and the dealership, but putting that "vibe" on the back burner will only win you points. Justin asked the right questions. So much so, that after effortlessly getting the parameters to what my friend was looking for, he went outside the box. He suggested the Mach-E. Walked us over, and it was never a model that she had ever considered. Or that was on my radar. He switched the approach from "selling" to "providing options". Doing test drives with a sales associate has to be one of the most awkward experiences someone can go through, willingly. He offered to sit in the back. He casually mentioned highlights as we took to the road, and he was relaxed and friendly. I say relaxed because I don't know if I would just trust anyone who showed up to the dealership. I had quite a bit of equity in it and trying to get a new 2026 car I wouldn't have the sizable down like I had before with all the rebates back in 2023 so the car company that I leased it from gave me an amazing offer to buy it out with a 5yr, 60,000mi bumper-to-bumper warranty, with no deductible, at a 4.98 interest rate.

Troy Duhon should really review his deceptive/illegal practices and be class action sued for this.
