Above and Beyond are the words that I will choose for this specific location. This location was absolutely amazing and my visit was a re-do from another location where the service wasn't so great. My service agent was amazing, she listened to all of my service issues, noted them and provided me with an eta on diagnosis. My agent (DeJ C.)followed up with me with the findings and recommendations and was just amazing! I believe my mechanic was (Faus-my apologies if I am mispronouncing names), but I felt confident in the service that I received at this location and will revisit in the future for my service needs. I purchased a vehicle from this location in May 2025 and within the first week I had an issue with the vehicle overheating. Service did not have any appointments within weeks, and I had to take it to the dealership for repairs. Then just a few months later, the transmission completely failed and the catalytic converter needs replacing among other repairs. The repair estimate is over $26,000, which is more than the car's value. I contacted the service department, and the only "help" offered was to look at the car free of charge. No assistance, no accountability, no solution. I bought from CarMax because I believed in their reputation for quality and transparency. A transmission failure this soon after purchase clearly indicates that the car was not in roadworthy condition at the time of sale. I still have all documentation, including repair estimates, and I am now pursuing legal action under Georgia's Fair Business Practices Act for selling a defective vehicle and failing to resolve the issue in good faith. I am asking corporate CarMax to review this case immediately and contact me to make this right. This has been a deeply frustrating and costly experience, and I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle here until they take responsibility for situations like mine. read more

I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with CarMax. I purchased a 2019 Ford EcoSport from them, and it has been nothing but problems ever since. Shortly after the purchase, the check engine light came on, along with serious issues related to the oil pump. These are not minor concerns--this is a major safety issue that could lead to engine failure. Despite bringing this to their attention multiple times, I've been given the runaround instead of real solutions. What's even worse is that while my car is still not properly fixed, CarMax Auto Finance continues to harass me with constant calls and messages about payments. How am I expected to confidently pay for a vehicle that is unreliable and unsafe? Customer service has been completely unhelpful. There is no accountability, no urgency, and no concern for the customer's safety or satisfaction. It feels like once they make the sale, they no longer care about what happens to you. I trusted CarMax to provide a reliable vehicle and a smooth buying experience, but instead I've been left stressed, inconvenienced, and stuck with a defective car. I would not recommend CarMax to anyone. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that actually stands behind their vehicles and treats customers with respect. read more

carmax finance sucks. a payoff check was sent by fedex on 5-6-2026 and they received it on 5-7-2026 at 9:23 am. As of today 5-11-2026 they have not processed the check nor closed the loan. Most companies will process a check for payment of something promptly but not this crappy company. i would advise anyone to not finance with this company. read more

I had bought a truck from carmax around this time last year and the reason that this review is coming as late as it is, is because i needed time to process how i felt about the transaction. at the time I was looking for a truck and I've narrowed it down and found exactly what I wanted 2014 ford f-150 with the 5.0 engine less than 90,000 miles on the odometer. my first initial complaint is that when I came to see the truck I had an appointment with my salesman and when I got there at the time that I was supposed to be there, I ended up having to wait 1.5 hr for my salesman to get there, this is absolutely unacceptable, and if you look at previous reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence. that management has not corrected. my second complaint is that when I took the truck on a test drive, they put a tracker in the back pocket of the passenger seat and failed to tell me that there was a tracker, and I fully understand that I was test driving a truck that I had not bought yet and I fully understand why that may have been there, but it would be nice to know or disclosed this information. absolutely unacceptable and a violation of my privacy. my third complaint is that when I bought the truck, there was a chip in the windshield that I noted to my sales man, and I was insured that it would be fixed at no cost to me. When I called Carmax to schedule an appointment to get it fixed I was told that it would cost me to get the windshield replaced. the communication is unacceptable. my fourth complaint and most important is that less than 1000miles of owning the truck. My water pump went bad now I understand that I am buying a used car but that is not the issue. the issue is that water pumps do not go bad overnight. this issue is a well-known problem for the 2014 Ford F150 equipped with the 5.0 L to me, it sounds like these cars are not looked over as well as you think they are because if a certified mechanic that takes pride in what they do really looked over this vehicle the way that they're supposed to be looked after this would not have been an issue for me and coming from somebody that's been and currently in the automotive repair business as a technician with certifications. I can say that this comment is credible and vital to the success of this business. I don't necessarily think this is the technician's fault. I would say this is more so of a management error. You have to give your technicians a optimal amount of time to go over these vehicles and with the volume that this store pushes out I don't see how these vehicles can get looked after the way you think they get looked after. when I tried to schedule a time to get this repair done through Carmax, I was told it was gonna take two weeks to get it into the shop and they would not offer me a loaner car. The biggest problem I have with this is that I just paid $30,000 in cash to buy this truck and now I have a critical component failure I wasn't asking to stop everything you're doing to fix my truck, but I wish it would have been expedited to make sure that I got my truck back in a timely manner after spending that much money. Needless to say I didn't have the time to get that repair done through Carmax. I had to get it done myself which cost me time and money that I shouldn't have had to spend. now that I have owned the truck for over a year I have gone through it and fix all the mistakes that should have been fixed the first time another issue that I wanted to talk about is the tires on my truck had a vibration problem since the day i bought it due to the low quality tires that were put on this truck during the reconditioning process I was able to look into this problem further and with a hunter road force tire balancer I was able to find that the tires were out of round far past the specification. just so everyone is aware most tire manufacturers will come with some sort of warranty so that in the event that if tires defective, which in my case was excessive run out, they will send you a brand new. number one this company needs to make sure that the technicians have the optimal equipment and training to recognize these things so that consumers like me don't have to spend their weekends fixing issues that should have never been issues in the first place.i'm not looking for Carmax to respond to this with the same answer that they give everybody on "we'll send this to the management team" What I'm looking for is an apology that they failed to look over this car the way it should have been. that they failed to communicate with staff members that my windshield is cracked and that it should've been fixed. that when i scheduled a time to look at the truck i expect someone to be there on time. that they failed to tell me that they were going to put a tracker in my car for my 24 Hour Test drive. and that they failed to expedite a repair for a customer that spent a great amount of money. i'm looking for a hand written apology from the manager of this branch read more

GREAT buying experience! Jorge was incredible and the whole process took about an hour, I test drove the car at 2:30 and was done with paperwork by 3:40! Easy, no nonsense, awesome! I knew which vehicle I wanted and handled it swiftly. I absolutely hate driving out to this location because it's so far away from society. I'm just kidding lol but it did take me 50 mins up and back. Recently, I shared that I just purchased a vehicle from the Norcross location. I was not completely satisfied as the one I purchased had high mileage was a year older and didn't have some of the basic features I'm use to such as push to start, leather seats, sunroof - the basics lol Carmax has an amazing 30 day guarantee where you can bring a vehicle back for any reason as long as it's less than 1500 mileage used. Thee best part about them I think! With that said - I found another Corolla at this location with almost 40k less miles, a year old AND all the perks I just mentioned; a premium version. I reserved it and went to Town center to purchase and trade the other one back. Daysha - so much to say about this wonderful saleswoman. She looked the part and worked with me with the upmost care from beginning to end. I knew exactly what I wanted and it made her job a lot easier. Because I just went through the process at Norcross, I knew what to expect and was able to allow this transition to be a smooth one. I was incredibly underwhelmed by the experience with Carmax. From rude people over the phone that seemed as though they almost wanted to convince me not to buy from them, to the massive inefficiency of trying to test drive the car I spent money to have transported here. The salesman was nice enough I suppose, but the whole thing was disappointing. Fortunately I was able to get out of there just having spent the transport fee and not the price of a car....overpriced as Carmax seems to always be...and I thought that for the extra cost you'd have some benefits, but I couldn't find them. Perhaps the 7-10 day return policy would be nice, but if the car was great I'd never need to use it and have spent probably an extra $2000...Im not sure the trade off is worth the frustration and extra $ cost. Can I suggest somewhere else in a review? I had a far superior experience at both Nalley Acura and Lexus, and still got out of there with a newer car for thousands less. read more

15+ years ago, I sold my old SUV to them for a flat cash price and that was a smooth transaction but December 2024 was my first time purchasing a car from CarMax Town Center. I don't have enough good things to say about them. Found a vehicle online that was located in TN and paid to have it shipped to this location. It arrived within a few days and we were notified to come check it out once it had been looked over. Took it for a test drive and finished up all the paperwork in under 2 hours. l can't believe how straightforward it was. We did notice that the sunroof seal needed to be repaired, so we set up an appointment to have that done. They offered a 10-day return window with unlimited milage which allowed me to immediately (within 12hrs) take it on a work trip to FL and test out all the things. I got back in town and dropped off the vehicle one morning for the sunroof repair. I was leaving town when I dropped by and they provided a complimentary Lyft from Kennesaw to the AIRPORT. What?? Who does that. So appreciated. Turns out that an additional part was needed so my husband scooped ip the vehicle while I was gone and the part was shipped in. When I came back for the final repair, not only were they done in the time promised but they provided me with a Lyft ride home and back so that I didn't have to wait in the service area. Beyond that, they also filled my tank up full with gas! Dan in the service department has been wonderful to work with and I would definitely buy another vehicle through CarMax Town Center. read more

My son and I have been looking for a car and we live out near Athens Georgia and went to the mall of Georgia to the Volvo dealer and was a little disappointed to find the car we wanted, took it for a test drive, loved it was ready to buy and then suddenly we were told the car was already sold. All car dealers are basically no Hago pricing meaning you're not gonna get a discount you're lucky not to pay over the price they're asking because when people want something they come come in pay full price or over just to get it. I found a better car than we had found at Volvo of Gwinnettand went out to the lot and was able to look at it and other cars around it the exact car we wanted and we were working with Andrew ROBINSON,, who worked with us, seemingly effortlessly to ask us our financial needs how much money we needed to put down or wanted to, make sure the car was detailed, and we found a problem on the car before we could get it so we had to schedule another day to come back to Marietta to pick up the car after they sent it to Volvo of Marietta to be fixed Came back today. He recognized me immediately after three days of being in the shop, the car was being detailed. As soon as we walked in even got a picture of the car with the bow on it like they've done in their traditions, it was the perfect car for us, there were no pain points in the sale of the car and was professional Knowledgeable and I think he probably sold three or four cars just in one day! he was even in training for another new employee, and had us in and out the door in less than a hour and could not be happier. What I liked was against some of these other reviews was he told us where the car was and that was the area where other Volvos were and cars that he thought we might like. All the cars were unlocked so we were able to look at multiple cars to make sure we had the right one we sat in them , we got to check out at least 12 cars before ending back up at the one we liked at the beginning as it was exactly what we wanted. This is a huge place and I did not expect him to follow us out there so he gave us the freedom to go look at what we liked and come back and he would give us the scoop on the car cars as we did have one other one we looked at, but he steered us away from it, as it had been in a wreck, which was on the report and the car was fine, but the car we were wanted in the first place was the best car to get. Ask for Andrew and highly recommend Carmax! Could not be happier with how painless the transactions were. read more

PATHETIC excuse for a company. 1st, after cutting them a check for $30K+, I start receiving threatening letters (FedEx overnight.....and more than one) as to how they are going to repossess the vehicle if I don't send immediate payment. Seems that someone at CarMax can't read or speak numbers, so the bank tells them that it's an invalid account number. Rather than DOUBLE-CHECKING their own procedures, they just assume that the check is fraudulent and start repossession procedures! I almost wish that they had made the attempt so I could hear them explain their actions to a judge. Then, after 10 months of ownership, I start getting a message on the display that it's close to oil change time. No problem. I order oil and a filter and do some online homework to ensure that there's nothing unusual about the procedure. The car goes up on jack stands, and away I go with a Phillips and a straight slot to perform step 1: removing the skid plate....you know, the panel that protects the oil pan, filter, and other sensitive parts. Except, there IS no skid plate! I note (and photograph) a couple of scrapes and dings, and I'm NOT happy. But, CarMax says that they will arrange a service visit and install the missing item. Heard NOTHING back. WHAT A SURPRISE!!!! Called again, and this time they say "Too bad, so sad! (note my shocked expression). The service guy says (get this) "That was a year ago!". Actually, ya twit, it was 10 months. Doesn't EVERYONE crawl under a just-purchased car to check on things? Oh, my bad! This is CarMax, so, if you do make the mistake of buying a car from them, make sure the FIRST thing that you do is to get it up on a lift and verify that all the parts that you just paid for are actually there. I am not sure what happened to Carmax but in 2016 I bought a car from the Town center location and I couldn't have been happier with the process. Today saying that is dismal at best is an overstatement. We walked in and looked alone at cars for about 4 hours we picked 3 that test drive. We came back inside and discovered oh you need to sign in( take a number) for the next body available to help you. After an hour of sitting in the waiting room with broken vending machines and no way to purchase a drink we were called. We had plans to look a specific car that was reserved at some point during our visit and were told sorry that car not available. Annnd we only allow you to test drive 2 cars a day... Fine we proceed to test the 2 choices and picked one we told the "sales person" That this is the car we would like but didn't plan on spending 5 hours at Carmax today and would return to purchase the car tomorrow and to reserve it. Sorry we cant do that unless you are using OUR financing for the car. No we are buying the car outright... sorry cant hold it. Ok so we leave and return the next day ready to buy only to be met with roadblock after roadblock. The person buying this car is a self made woman and CEO of a company she has run for 25 years. This car is a business purchase and during the process she planned to use her company card....... oh we dont take any credit cards only debit cards do ou have a debit card no this is a business purchase. She had planned on using her business AMEX for the points..fail. She brought a company check as a back up to which they inform us she has to PROVE she has the funds. She said I can go home and get the most current statement then we were told they could try another way. The "Manager" who we discovered is both arrogant and disrespectful trots out in a dismissive huff to Mansplain how business licenses work and because as a woman she is ignorant to how state business licensing works. She attempted to educate the "manager" that being incorporated in another state and running a business for 20 years and living in a different one has nothing to do where the checking account is from. SO after forcing her to show them her substantial personal funds saying that would be good and jumping through hoops then denying all forms of payment to buy the car outright, the "Manager" tells her you need a personal check or a check cashiers to buy this car. Obliviously being the master of business that he is at that point we ended the transaction at that point. If you knew anything about business and finance you know it is more advantageous to purchase the car through your business not our of your personal account. If you are a woman and a business owner looking to purchase a car through you business I would look elsewhere. I am regret that I even suggested for her to shop Carmax. she will never shop there again and I have bought my last car from them. Going forward I will steer others away as well. This review is based off of the Service Department at this location. I purchased my vehicle from another CarMax location, but this one is closest to me and since I have MaxCare, I bring it here when I have any issues, which has been twice in the past year. From a car repair stand point, they do what is needed with a decent turn around time. My latest repair was based off of a battery issue. I had been having battery issues since I purchased the vehicle and only after a few trips in and my vehicle dying randomly did they determine that they battery in place, which was the same size as the original, was too small to power my Explorer. Frustrating considering I have replaced the battery three times in two years...On this last visit I dropped it off and while I did not have an appointment, they were able to get me in and taken care of that day. Service Advisors all tend to have attitudes, which I do not appreciate very much. Whether it be in person or on the phone, I always feel like I am bothering them by bringing my vehicle in. You have to push back in each conversation because if you don't they will take their time and not do all that is needed to get you in and out, or get that part ordered, or even look at what you think may be the issue. I have had better luck with my recent Advisor, but for the most part...dealing with that group is not a highlight of my day. Overall, CarMax as a brand is a solid spot for all things used cars and I have always had pleasant interactions with the staff in Sales and the Business Office. What a HORRIBLE experience!!! We had a car shipped down from NY, where it had supposely gone through their 125+ point inspection. After a week and a half, we were told the car finally arrived at the GA location and also went through another inspection at the local facility. Both inspections 'Passed'. We were asked to come in and do a test drive and finalize the deal. The appointment was scheduled for us to test drive/buy the car and then literally 2 hours before we were to go get the car, we were told the car had frame damage and could no longer be sold to us. Transportation fees were instead being refunded and our appointment to get the car was now cancelled. When I asked for the inspection report showing the supposed frame damage on the vehicle, I was then called by the local manager who then said no it really wasn't frame damage but instead there was 'orange peel' paint all throughout the outside of the car and both the front and back bumper were completely misaligned like it had been in some type of accident. Basically she described the car as completely trashed and unsellable. She blamed the NY Carmax saying they should have never shipped a car like that or tried to sell it because it doesnt 'meet the Carmax standard'. She said it would cost them thousands to fix the car and therefore they simply wouldn't be able to sell us the car now. In fact, she said it was so bad that they would be shipping it off for a salvage sale instead. How does that even happen??!?!?!? How does it supposedly pass two inspections and then suddenly the car is not even sellable? Also, the pictures online showed nothing that the manager claimed. The exterior paint looked flawless on their website and both bumpers looked completely intact. There was a 360-view of both the interior and exterior and numerous pictures posted of the vehicle. There were even a few posted pictures pointing out a couple known defects on the inside of the car, but literally nothing like what the manager claimed about the exterior of the vehicle. They then proceeded to ask me like 7 times if they could instead help me buy a different car from them. Bait and switch happening here??? Either way, it seems like a huge scam and a complete waste of my time!!! Why would anyone ever buy a car from Carmax if this is the way the do business? How good are these 'inspections' they do if this vehicle passed their inspection process TWICE or how honest are the pictures and 360-views they post of their vehicles if it is really as bad as they claimed it to be? Clearly something is not adding up here!!! What a huge waste of my time, lost opportunities for other vehicles I could have purchased, and an unnecessary hit to my credit score for absolutely nothing!! I 10000000% RECOMMEND NOT EVER DOING BUSINESS WITH CARMAX!!! Huge scam and something seriously fishy going on here!!! I wish I could give them zero stars!!! read more

I want to tell you about my experience with Carmax Town Center. I found a car on their website that was located in another state. I paid to have it transferred to the Carmax location in Town Center. I waited a few weeks and finally I was notifed it had arrived but they needed to go over it and do their inspection here. About 4 days later they notified me it was ready and I made an appointment to test drive it and do an "express pickup". I asked to drive it and check it out. On the test drive, I noticed several things. It had not been washed, much less detailed which is what I was expecting. It was actually dirty inside. the cup holders in the back were dirty and when I checked the back seat where it folded down, there was pine straw and dirt debris under it. The head lights covers were very fogged up, the tire pressure light was on and there were some trim pieces coming off. I was happy with the car generally, the way it handled and drove. I had decided I liked it and had planned to buy it as long as it drove well. When I got back and mentioned the things I found, the service person came out and tried, from my perspective, to explain them away in order to not address them. He finally agreed to come inside and write out a work order list to be addressed within 30 days when I made an appointment and brought it back. After I signed and bought it, they made a rushed attempt at cleaning the cup holders and vacuuming under the back seats. I scheduled service within a week and the service person was helpful and fine. My entire point and purpose for this review is to let you know that they seemed to want to do the least amount of work to make the sale. I got the car, had to ask them to vacuum and clean it. It had the tire pressure sensor on and they couldnt even check that before they expected me to sign and buy. The whole reason I bought from them was their "127 point check". The entire experience was, in a word, disappointing. Very poor customer service. read more

Very frustrating, bad experience. First time visiting CarMax, started off confused as to why no one greeted us to tell us how CarMax operates. We had to be told by another shopper that you just help yourself around, scan barcodes, etc. then go inside and find someone when you find a car. Further frustrating, if the cars are not available, they need to be removed from the lot or put aside somewhere. We were ready to buy today but left after seeing 5 of 8 cars we liked, were unavailable. Took our business elsewhere, that had cars on the lot that were actually available for purchase. . The only plus, was the convenience of being able to walk around freely and having all the cars being unlocked. I purchased a Jeep from CarMax. The sales person was great. However, then it goes south. I had the car inspected and found undisclosed issues. Getting hold of them via phone for such an issue proved impossible. I drove there and met with both a sales manager and person from service and was told they would take care of it. Then I showed up for the repairs only to find out they hadn't ordered anything. It is not possible to reach anyone to help resolve such issues and they don't seem to care one way or another after you have paid. STAY AWAY read more

I know times are hard and everyone seems to be on edge , especially around the holiday times , but the way I got treated and harassed by her was despicable to say the least . She threatened my life and my job location because of her own mistakes that she has no accountability for ... It is sad to see the younger generation of adults act as if the world owes them something , because I most certainly do not owe Ashanti Lyons anything . Not a grain of rice. Being Cussed at , harassed , and threatened has made me sick to my stomach , reasoning on why I making this review now . I couldn't bear the disrespect and discomfort she put me in mentally and physically. The miscommunication here is astonishing and has gone on and on and on. Amazing how in a year the customer service has gone downhill. Totally different since my last car buying/selling experience with this dealership. My newest purchase has been one disaster after the next. There is zero communication between the people who work here internally as well as with the online support. One person tells me one thing, then the next I speak to tells me the complete opposite. I've had appointments made that were not relayed to the dealership from online support and my latest was a service appointment made for me by the service department but when I got there I was told it was not for the date i was originally scheduled on the phone. CarMax had a very young associate appraise my small convertible a 08' Pontiac Solstice. The appraiser pulled off my driver's door handle! My car is always garaged and seldom driven, 34K miles. Fortunately, I I was looking out a window and saw the appraiser pushing (with great force) something into my driver's door handle. I ran outside and asked him what he was doing, he stated, "I didn't know the car was locked" I again asked him what he was doing to my door. He said he was taking it for a test drive. He stated, "trust and believe". He returned a few minutes later and he never mentioned that he damaged my vehicle. I wanted to think about CarMax offer, I thought it was a little low. When I tried to get into my vehicle the door handle came off in my hand. Luckily I spotted the damage before I moved my vehicle! After negotiating, which shouldn't be necessary, they confirmed that they would fix my vehicle. I was able to get the car repaired two weeks later. I expect more from my six year old grandson! It is unfathomable that a car "appraiser" would pull a door handle off a car because he doesn't realize it's locked. read more

DO NOT BUY your car here! Experienced real Racism here directly! I literally had to explain to a sales rep I need to actually not have the alarm of the car going off and need to see the vehicle on before purchasing. Literally had my wife who is pregnant and my small child that is 2 yrs old waiting in the cold. The car alarm went off over and over because the sales rep did not even want to turn the car on or the alarm off. Instead the sales rep decided to go back inside to chill laugh and joke. I'm not sure if they are attempting to sell lemons at this location or what. But they refuse to even turn the car on. Next I had to deal with the so called sales Manager Steve who did not understand that my pregnant wife and child cannot sit outside in the cold for hours while they laugh and joke amongst themselves while I'm trying to buy a vehicle. This place is a joke no one wants to work and literally sits and jokes amongst themselves than actually working. I literally had everything needed to make the purchase for 2 vehicles one being over 55k but could not make a purchase because of their incompetence. Never had a terrible experience like this anywhere else including any other CarMax locations. Next call I will be making is to corporate to inform them of the events and racism I experienced in the Kennesaw location that took place today. read more

1) I had to call the sales person and my bank, to coordinate them getting the payoff statement. (Three times) They were going to wait until I arrived at 530 when my bank is closed. 2) He sent me the finance amount incorrectly, I literally had to do the exact math for him and tell him it over the phone. 3) We set up an "express appointment time" only to find out they hadn't started the paperwork yet. 4) Their interest was horrible and my credit is 744. The only reason we bought the car is because my fiancé was set on it and it is her car. Absolute train wreck of an experience. read more

Awful experience, after being there for 3 hours, they tell us that because my husband is the policy holder I can't test drive the car.....we have USAA the highest ranking service member is the main person on the account and making me secondary.....but because his name was FIRST we couldn't test drive. But they said if we buy then we don't have to prove insurance.....WTF? Annoyed but found exact car at another store and got a way better deal! read more
