My transmission failed for the second time so I headed to CarMax for a quick & simple solution, which is exactly what the experience proved to be. We worked with John Ritter who has a lineup of sales awards on his desk & he deserves every one of them - not because he's a crafty salesman, but because he was kind, respectful and didn't apply an ounce of pressure during the process, even cautioning me when I started looking at cars outside of my budget! Great system, great selection and, most of all in our case, outstanding service from a very good guy. This place is to traditional dealerships what Uber is to taxicabs, I won't likely shop anywhere else. read more

The individual I sent there has a 750 Fico Beacon, over 10 years credit age, solid professional employment. The vehicle she was trading had a negative equity approximately $3k. When she went to a major franchise dealer she was offered 3.9 on the spot and absorption of the negative equity in a 72 month term no questions asked. I hold an MBA, own a successful IT company, and have probably bought and sold over 50 cars in my life. There is something peculiar with your financing partners no doubt and whatever arrangement you have with them. read more

I had a horrendous experience with the Service Department. I went in for a standard oil change and tire rotations, and when I picked up my car I noticed that the car would vibrate at highway speeds. I took the car back and told them that the car vibrated and that the tires were misaligned. They took the car back and said they realigned the tires. The car still vibrated. I took it back a second time and they told me that it must be a drive shaft issue then. They had to send the car out to be fixed, so they set me up with a rental car. A week later I got a call from them saying that the other mechanics looked at the car and all that was wrong with it was that I needed new front tires. When I finally got the car back, they had replaced all four tires (which I did not authorize). Because tire replacement is not covered under warranty repairs, they then told me I had to pay for the rental car myself that I had for over a week, plus the tires. They then told me they would give me a "deal" and not charge me for the two tires I did not authorize. Ultimately, I ended up paying several hundred dollars for the new tires and rental car after they claimed to have looked closely at my car and were certain it was the drive shaft and not the tires. When I complained to the management, they said to leave a copy of the repair invoice and rental car cost, and they would get back to me. I never heard from them again. The mechanics there are utterly incompetent or just looking to charge for whatever they can. I cannot recommend enough that you do not use them. read more

I visited Carmax in Davie, Florida today to have my car appraised. My experience was exceptional. I was met at the door by a smiling representative who was sincerely interested in making my visit successful. There was no rush to put me through the process nor the normal car sales person pressure. Make sure that you request Miranda to assist if your visit is during the weekend hours. You will not be disappointed. read more

Overall a good process buying the car. Two downsides (a) When I came in for an exact price-all of the fees weren't disclosed, and (b) Be careful of the hard-sell regarding their service plan. The car I bought was only a year old-so the service plan would have involved spending $ on a plan that wasn't necessary, since the car was still under warranty. Otherwise they are ok. read more

When I got to CarMax, i was greeted buy a sales representative named Yorjan, He asked all the expected from a sales rep. Once I informed him of my intentions to pick out a vehicle and have it shipped to South Carolina and purchase it there, he replied "Well, knock yourself out" and immediately took off. I guess since he realized that he was not going to make any commission off of me for the sale, it was not to he benefit to assist me. I called their location in order to have my new Kia Optima inspected and have the warranty items checked out, the young lady who answered the phone proceeded to schedule me for what I described. When I arrived at the location, a little man approached me very rudely and forced his way into a conversation with me without even introducing himself. He then began to sarcastically offer services to me that I wasn't there for. He also very rudely told me he couldn't do an inspection on my vehicle, and sarcastically explained what a warranty is. I was very insulted! This young man was terribly equipped to earn a new customers business, he didn't even attempt to sell me on anything he was presenting... left me feeling as if I had zero options. He was rude, uninformative, non courteous, rude and not helpful whatsoever. I will never return to this location and would urge anyone considering this location to reconsider going to the Miami branch where they know how to treat a prospective client with professionalism and class. This location completely wasted my time and I never even received what I was there for. 1000% disgusted with the experience, if not for the car being so awesome, I would have returned it simply because of the people representing Kia at this location. Whomever would appoint such a person to deal with new or prospective clients is ill equipped to make such decisions. BAD BAD BAD!!! They could have earned a very loyal customer and chose to create an unsatisfied customer. A corporate review of this location is in order, they're probably doing this to many people who aren't saying anything about it. I hope this helps you avoid this location... I knew growing up wasn't gonna be easy but, no one told me that CarMax would make me ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE for months. I can't believe I'm still dealing with this, or that they're so unwilling to help. They're a HUGE company. You would think that they would want to please a customer who's family has bought FOUR cars from. NEVER made a late payment. Oh yea, AND ALMOST DIED IN A CAR FIRE CAUSED BY THE BATTERY THAT WAS INSTALLED BY DAVIES SHITTY SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DAVIE CARMAX TWO WEEKS LATER, per the OFFICIAL fire report authorized by CSFD. These people are being inconsiderate, and are waiting for someone to die before they do something about their company. Please, think before you shop at CarMax. They are NOT here for you, your safety, or your financial interest. Go to a top rated dealer, pay the extra money and get the extra service. CarMax you guys are awful, maybe if I would have died, driving 3 more feet in a car your company labeled "safe", you would be more willing to cooperate with my VERY reasonable request. read more

I just want to start this off by saying that if I could rate them a zero, I would not hesitate to do so. I purchased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata hybrid from this Carmax location on May 31, 2016. This is the first vehicle that I purchased myself. So you could imagine how excited I was. I have to say this has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Upon purchasing this vehicle, I'd say about a week and a half later I realized the drivers window was broken, the horn didn't work, there was an oil leak that I still see on my driveway today, the USB built in the vehicle didn't work, and the wipers didn't work. I was of course upset especially since the sales associate expressed to me that Carmax does above average inspections on every vehicle. A couple days later I brought the car back and expressed to them that I was very upset, but as long as they fixed it it would be fine. They gave me a rental and I was on my way. It gets better though. So two week later they still didn't contact me with an update on my car. I then called them to see what was going on, that's when they told me my car was done. I, of course, was upset again that I had to go out of my way to contact them for a mistake they made. They then explain to me that the rental they gave me had to be returned with a full tank of gas. Normally that wouldn't be a problem for me, but considering the major inconvenience and the fact that they gave me a rental that wasn't a hybrid I thought that I wouldn't have to fill it. At this point I was so upset that I called corporate. Corporate resolved the issue, had them fill my tank, and I was not required to fill the tank of the rental. I appreciated them for that, until I got in my vehicle and the USB STILL didn't work, and my wipers were still broken. They had my car for an entire two weeks, and the problems still persisted. So I went back and they told me the USB wasn't made to charge my phone, it was to connect to the Aux. I found that interesting because the rental they gave me was the exact same car I purchased, just not a hybrid and the charger/auxiliary cord worked fine, but in my car it didn't. They then told me to purchase the piece for the auxiliary cord and they would reimburse me. So I did and I wasn't happy about the fact that I basically had to run errands for them to fix a problem in my car that it shouldn't have had in the first place. It took me 3 hours to find the piece, and 30 minutes to drive there from my house. At this point I had to drive to that location 4 times. When I purchased the vehicle I didn't plan on seeing them ever again, but unfortunately their faces became all too familiar. I expressed to the young lady at Carmax that I was extremely unhappy that I had to drive 3 hours to find a piece because of them. She kindly told me she'd speak to the manager. When she returned she said they wouldn't do anything because they had already filled up my tank previously. Furious, I called corporate again. I explained my story for the 2nd time to corporate and the agent that answered the phone seemed shocked by my story and told me he'd call the location and give me a call back with results. I let 2 weeks pass by because I was having family issues, but I then called Carmax back and asked the young lady working on my case why she never called back, and she ignored my question and went on with getting me an appointment. I then told her I'd call her back after I checked my schedule for work to see when I could come in. Before I could call her back, my horn stopped working AGAIN! I have gotten to the point that I want a brand new car, or my money back. I took the time to write this extremely long review because I'd like to save someone else the trouble. My family has been purchasing cars from Carmax for years, but after this incident, we will never shop with this company again. I am going to contact the better Business Bureau, and the company that is financing my car about this incident. I will be filing a law suit against Carmax simply because my lawyer has brought to my attention that selling someone a vehicle without a horn is illegal, and is a safety issue. Both of the times that I realized my horn was broken were because another driver almost hit my vehicle and I tried to honk to avoid an accident. By the grace of God, they didn't hit me, but if they did, that would have been another law suit. To who ever reads this I appreciate you taking the time to do so, and I hope you never shop with Carmax. read more
