Had the best service experience at a dealership in my life. 90% of it was due to my Service Consultant, Jessica Walker. She delivered the most important thing when your vehicle is having unexpected mechanical issues, consistent communication that did not require any action on my part. Every day, sometimes twice in a day, I received a call just to provide an update on the diagnostic being performed to identify the issue. The fact it took a while to diagnose was totally overshadowed by the amazing service. I'm a licensed insurance agent/adjuster for 33+ years and almost never purchase extended warranties or "insurance" protection on technology. Because I was purchasing a German car, I made the exception and it paid off. For that reason, I also recommended going over your extended warranty options with the sales rep at time of purchase. It is not for every situation, I would still take the time to review. My decision to take it made my service experience even better. They explained my benefits clearly before we got started, provided a loaner while they diagnosed the issue to confirm warranty coverage, and got me in and out of the loaner with ease. The entire experience, start to finish could not have gone better, all things considered. The dealership is always sparkling clean, staff members helpful and polite, with a nice variety of vehicles to check out during my visit. For several years, I have used this CarMax location to sell my vehicles but have never made a purchase. The selling process was simple with no hassels. I brought my vehicle to the main front lot where they provide an adjustor to check the mileage and condition to provide a price that CarMax will honor for seven days even without purchasing another vehicle. The offer price is firm with no negotiating. Today, I walked the massive back lot for a gently used vehicle which have different options every week. CarMax (Davie, Florida) Very disappointing experience. Over $500 worth of sporting equipment (two large bags of skates) was accidentally left inside a loaner vehicle. Instead of attempting to contact me or holding the items, the company threw everything away. When I contacted customer service, I was passed from department to department, with no one willing to take responsibility or even investigate what happened. The only response I effectively received was "too bad." No effort was made to resolve the situation or acknowledge the loss. If the company's policy is truly to discard all personal property left in a loaner vehicle, that policy should seriously be reconsidered. Most businesses would at least attempt a phone call before throwing away hundreds of dollars' worth of someone's belongings. * I'm happy to update this review if the company makes an effort to resolve the situation. * I hope management reviews this and reaches out. read more

I'm now looking for another used vehicle and wanted to see if I can trade in the one I have?When I arrived, there was hardly anyone on the premises. I wanted a trade in estimate on my car & also wanted to look at another used car. The man who assisted was so disinterested & appeared to just want to get me out the door! The estimate was very poor! I told him I would sell my vehicle on my own. Then he got up and started walking away! I asked him, did you forget I wanted to see used vehicles? He said I could look online. WHAT??!! I said I'm here now. Then he proceeded to look for someone to help me. At 6pm (they're open til 9) there was no one around. He said he would look for someone. I said forget it & left! We went into car max to sell a vehicle. The price that they offered was fair we went in and the associate explained the process. We were notified there would be a little bit of a longer wait in that day due to the influx of customers. The entire process did go smoothly with accurate wait times and a pretty seamless transaction. It definitely exceeded our expectations. My only complaint is with the lack of transparency when it comes to the financial aspect of the transaction. The only thing that Carmax did not fully explain to us is that although they will cut you a check for your vehicle the check is for deposit only. Now this was not the end of the world, but definitely inconvenient. I sold my vehicle with the intention of cashing the check and purchasing a new vehicle the following day. However, I was unaware that Carmax issues deposit only checks. Again, not the end of the world, just something to be aware of. There is a mandatory 10 day hold on the checks. We followed every step asked for by this company. We were originally given a quote to buy out the lease on our current vehicle ( Carmax claimed) and as per the Carmax agent and supervisor " they apologize for the error" They clearly stated the company made an error. All in all we were not able to purchase the truck we wanted or trade the vehicle we planned on without putting our own down payment and paying a lot more for the truck we wanted. They basically thought it would be a good idea to have 2 vehicles. Ridiculous thoughts and unnecessary expenses. Carmax is the worst place for car sales/ trades. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! PROS: My wife and I got an easy online quote. Made an appointment and went to CARMAX in Davie, Florida. No one was particularly friendly. But it was comfortable and clean inside. Someone inspected the car. Etc, and we were given another offer that was $600 less than the previous one. But very fair. Since previous damage unknown to my wife and I showed up on the history report. We agreed to sell. CONS: After we agreed to sell, we waited for 20 or 30 minutes in the wrong area. Because no one specified what to do next, and the employee clearly thought I had ESP. Then, we waited another 30 minutes in the correct area. After that, we were handed what is essentially a POST DATED check. Issued on a Thursday night. But not "good" until NEXT WEDNESDAY..I thought probably Monday. But when I deposited it at my bank I was told, and i quote: "it will clear on Wednesday morning. CARMAX is horrible like that" So, it was an hour and forty-five minutes. I got a fair price. But the experience wasn't so swift. The topper was having to wait 6 DAYS to access my money when they have full possession of my vehicle. Not cool at all. I let the salesperson know and was told they would take care of it after I purchased the car. He gave me the business card for the Service Dept. to set up an appointment. When I called they knew exactly the car and the issue and set up an appointment for me to have it fixed. At the appointment I was told that it is not a mechanical issue and they would not fix it. I spoke to the manager and was told that if I'm not happy my only option was to return the car. UNACCEPTABLE AND RIDICULOUS. They make promises that won't be kept in order to make a sale. Back again with an updated review on Carmax. Carmax does it again, from their Sales Department to their Servicing Department, they always deliver the best service and this time was no different. Had a few things I was concerned about at my last oil change. They did a complete overhaul and told me their findings. In the beginning I was freaked out thinking about the cost, but as luck would have it EVERYTHING was covered under my warranty including a rental til the job was completed. Today I got my car back, and it feels like I'm driving a new car. Keith my Service Consultant was wonderful, keeping me updated with nuances and progress, and whenever he was away, James and Rachel stepped in to assist. I've literally bought 10 cars from Carmax and have never been disappointed with any of my purchases. It goes without saying that if I ever buy another car again in the future, it will be at Carmax. We needed to quickly sell my husband's 2006 low mileage Honda and didn't want to deal with private buyers wasting our time. I remembered my neighbor in Los Angeles trading her leased BMW in to car buying service when she was moving back to Manhattan, so I figured I'd try this too. I should point out we own the Honda outright, so that probably helped make things easier and go smoothly. My husband called CarMax for an appointment and was told he could come in that same day. He got there on a weeknight around 6:30 PM and they did an appraisal on his car. I think he waited about 20 minutes, they do have a small waiting room with coffee. I had looked on Kelly Blue Book before his appointment to see what the trade in value was on his car, so I knew ahead of time what the minimum acceptable offer would be for us. If you go on KBB to input info, there is a trade in range that will pop up and an average value. We were both pleased that Car Max offered him $100 less than the top $ value on KBB. Granted this is a popular Honda model and they do retain their value well. Two days later we brought the car in and we were helped my a friendly lady. Be sure to peel off any residential stickers, toll passes or anything like that before trading it in. We waited about 20 minutes while the car was processed in and we were out with a check in our hands. Very easy process and I'd highly recommend it! read more

DO NOT BUY A USED OR PREOWNED CAR FROM CARMAX before you run a carfax report on the car. Carmax runs autocheck on their cars and autocheck is unreliable when it comes to accident history. We bought a preowned car in 2018 from Carmax and got a certificate that said the car had not been in any accidents. When I went to trade the car in at a Honda dealership this weekend they ran carfax and told me that the car I bought from Carmax had air bags deployed TWICE before I bought it. Yet Carmax sold it to me at the blue book value with no accidents when it indeed had two significant accidents. Because of that my trade in value of this car isn't worth shit. I purchased a car a few months ago. Have had to take it in a few times since purchase. It's 2021 so nothing major. I find their service team is inexperienced, careless and sloppy. First the rubber around the door was broken and we ordered a new one. They installed it or should I say failed at installing it and the next day it was hanging loose. Had to take it in again. Then we took it in for regular maintenance and it came back to us, we left for a 2 week vacay came back and the notification says it needed break fluid due 12/2023 we literally took the suv in two weekend prior which was 12/2023 why wasn't this addressed? Anyhow, took it in yesterday. They said they will drain and change it and do another alignment as the suv is pulling even after the last alignment 2 weeks ago. They completed the jobs took the suv for a test drive and got a nail in the tire. Told us to bring it Monday for a patch. They did not even have the decency to stay 30 minutes late to patch it. Now I have a flat tire on my drive way in an almost new suv. Literally the worst to deal with, again I don't think customer service is a priority. I went and sat in the waiting area and one of the store representatives said he would be right with me again.. He asked me for my drivers license, make/model & year of my vehicle. After this process he asked me for my keys and was told it would take 30 minutes to get a price. When making a purchase this large, one would suspect you would get at least "good customer " service and the full attention of the salesman. The salesman I met the day before allowed me to take a test drive and I love and decided to return the next day with a check to purchase the car. Unfortunately, my original salesman did not come to work the next day as scheduled and I was told another salesman would facilitate the sale. After changing the appointment time I arrived to find that the salesman had other customers and was juggling 3 customers. Yes, the car is 16 years old so there are some issues, but I thought they were minor. The car had paint issues so yes, I know that affects the value. The lights on the dish boards are on, but it's probably minor electrical issues. But mechanically, I know the car drives very well for 16 year old. It's got some minor leaks but it still drives like a champ. Other than that, that's still a very decent car. I already had a low expectation before they took my car in for appraisal. I have to say for a big company like CarMax, they probably got this car buying process figured out. It was pretty east to get a quote for my car. Yes we waited a little bit for it but we went there on a busy Saturday afternoon so it was expected. At the end, they gave us an offer which I thought was very reasonable. The sales person didn't try to pressure us to sell (or buy a car) from them. They just thanked us for bring the car in and told us the offer is good for 7 days. We may have not sold our cars to them, but I'd definitely recommend anyone who is considering to sell the car to bring it in here first. read more

I can not begin to tell you what a fantastic experience I had at Car Max in Davie when I went to sell my Sentra. I made an appointment for 12:30 and upon arrival, I was met by a wonderful young lady. ( I think her name was Natilia ) She took all of my information and said she would get back to me after the car was apprised. 25 minutes later she gave me a fair price for my car and I agreed to sell. Mike the manager and Shaq the service repair associate promised phone calls that were never made for updates on my vehicle. I came here after dealing with 2 annoying car dealerships in the morning and was pretty beat-down, but they had a car advertised I was interested in. I arrived around 2 or 3 PM and Pedro Cardenas was the sales rep randomly assigned to me. When I saw the car in person I changed my mind, but Pedro allowed us to look at the other used cars and went inside and didn't hassle us, which I liked. I ended up finding a car I liked and test drove it, and decided to take it. Pedro was nice to talk to and seemed pretty knowledgeable about the cars. The only thing was he was not so great with the computer and is fairly new, so he was a little slow with everything. But I'm pretty patient and would rather deal with that than some rude, pushy salesman type. I had a pre-approval letter for financing from Capital One yet he did not know to pull that so he only pulled CarMax's credit, which the interest was way too high and made my payment too large, so we had to walk away. Luckily he happened to mention to an associate what happened and they grabbed us when we got out of the bathroom, and he then pulled Cap1's credit which was much more reasonable, and we took it. I still plan on re-financing though. I thought we were done, but then I had to call my insurance and that took a half hour.. so we didn't get out of there until about 8:30 PM. I like that the price is on the dash (although they add taxes and minor fees), but there is no mysterious middle finance man, the sales person pulls your credit right there and the amount offered is right on the screen. I was only offered $250 for my trade-in, but since they car was a 2003 with 166K miles on it, I took it since I didn't want to deal with selling myself. Also I needed all the money down I could get - one thing that kind of sucks is they don't accept credit cards for down payments. All-in-all, a pretty good experience and I would go back there again. read more
