I love this spot so much! Yesterday, I got two famous burgers, a fry, and an extra patty. No line. Super kind at the drive thru window. Easy to understand them. At the window very friendly, took care of my payment quickly and made sure the fries were fresh and pipping hot! Literally the best fries! But also, In N Out has been doing like warm fries for a few months now, but at Carls I never have to question if they'll be fresh and hot! They stay super hot until AFTER I get home. Ordered the Santa Fe chicken sandwich easy on the sauce asked for extra chili on it. This is what I got.(see photo.) nothing but a mushy mess two little drops of Ortega soggy soggy soggy! Came again for breakfast, had the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich with a side of waffle fries. The sandwich was ok, a bit bland for my taste, added a lot of hot sauce to give it some taste, it was very cheesy though. I had my order through drive-thru, it was done is minimal time. Man, I didn't realize how bad Carl's Junior had gotten. The value for the price was sad. For over $7, we got 3 chicken tenders that amounted to what used to be one chicken tender usually. We $60 on 4 drinks, 3 sandwiches, fries, zucchini, and tenders. And while they're always a little more expensive, their quality always makes up for that.. but not anymore. My daughter, grandson, and I went to this place yesterday. For a burger and fries for the grownups. Chicken Stars and fries for the little guy. I've never been a raving fan of Carls. But they always served a pretty good burger. Had that charbroiled flavor. Well, that ship has sailed no question. We ordered. It came to $34.33! What!! Oh well, my tastebuds were ready for some charbroiled yum. We waited forever. There was one customer other than ourselves. He ordered and finished his meal before we got ours. We got there first. Anyway. I was thinking that when we walked in--- I didn't smell the usual smell of Carls. You know - the smell of beef broiling. When we got our food---it was cold. But oh well. When I unwrapped mine - yikes! The cheese was just hanging off the side. Not even partially melted. Actually, not even warm. Even if it had been sitting under heat lamps. It would be semi warm. Nope. The bacon was limp and hanging off as well. It's had a weird look. The color was off. It wasn't cooked at all! The bun was hard as a rock. Since it took so long for us to get this culinary dream come true, I figured that since it had clearly been sitting, the sauce would have soaked into the bread. Making it soggy. Nope. The bread was so hard --- no soaking was going on there. I took a bite. Oh, my stars ( no pun intended)! I couldn't keep it in my mouth long enough to chew, and God forbid -- swallow. I had to spit it out into my napkin. I just couldn't do it. It had a distinctly sour taste. The fries were cold. They closely resembled strips of lard made to look like potatoes. Horrible! My order was taken relatively quickly and I went to the restroom to wash up. When I came back, my order was waiting on the table so they do get high marks for speed of service. The fries were hot and the soda tasted good. The problem for me comes when I get the Famous Star I ordered. I have a background in quality management so I tend to critique everything and this burger was no exception. When you advertise your burgers in pictures as bursting with tomatoes and onions and a juicy burger you should make sure your customers get what you're advertising. What I received was nothing of the sort and that is why they get 2 stars. I came here starving yesterday and I guess when you're starving, almost anything tastes okay. The reason why new burger places are able to break into the fast food market is because places like Carl's Jr. gets sloppy and churns out so-so burgers. We watched the drive thru attendant grab an old dirty mop and start mopping the floors and then reached into his pocket for his cell phone. There was only two employees working when we got there. The cashier was very apologetic about making us wait to take our order because there was a drive thru order who got there before us. Then the food arrived late, both employees brought our our and profusely apologized for the delay. In addition to giving us the food we ordered, they gave us complimentary desserts for the four of us. In the middle of us eating they came back and asked if we were missing/needed anything, and again apologized for the delay. They also offered to throw our trash away when we finished. Went to go order two shakes tonight. After an extremely long wait handing the cashier the money through the drive up window he dropped all of the change. He stared at me for a moment and said I can't reach it. I looked at him and he said are you going to get the change, I said no I can't reach it it's under the car take it out of the $10 bill. The service is consistently slow. If raw meat is dropped on the floor they just pick it up and cook it and serve it to the customers. I dropped a box of raw meat on the floor and got in trouble for throwing it in the trash. Some of the sandwiches are made ahead of time and will eventually cool off.The management and employees use profanity with in earshot of the customers. It's not uncommon for the orders to take to long to deliver. The metal pans are usually cleaned with filthy scrubbers. The soap dispenser is in constant need of repair in the dish washing area. The employees play inappropriate music during work hours. This place does not require drug testing of their employees. For part time employees their is no benefits. Usually after people receive a promotion they quit.I worked there until I found a better job.The manager told me that she did not properly train me and so I had no chance of career advancement.
