Listen, I'm here to be honest with you guys about these reviews. That's what I'm going to do. They're doing the best they can in there. Got to give them credit when you can. Best way I can describe this place is the type of place you stop at to use the restroom when it is your last resort and you're avoiding a catastrophic emergency from taking place in your vehicle. Then after, for whatever reason, you decide it's a good time to grab some food. Soda machine was watered down, didn't matter which you selected. Trays were a little whacked out and almost inverted. Five years ago my wife and I did blind rankings of our favourite fast food burgers and Carl's Jr ended up being my number one....yet since then I find myself always being let down by the chain. It was lunch time in Big Bear and thanks to my dogs being in the car, we decided to just pull into the Carl's Jr drive through and get a quick lunch that way. I ordered the the double western bacon cheeseburger combo with french fries, something I haven't tried yet but as a sucker for onion rings I know I want them on my burger. The food was quickly made and quickly handed to us and that's what we were looking for. The food itself just left something to be desired. I don't know why, but chains like McDonalds, Burger King, In-N-Out, and even Wendy's offer something unique flavour wise but for some reason the food at Carl's Jr just seems okay on most visits and nothing really sticks out. The burger was fine, the fries were fine, but that's the best feedback I could possibly give. Overall, Carl's Jr continues to rank on the lower end of fast food places for me. This experience was fine, but I was hoping for more from a burger that sounded custom made for me. ZERO STARS **Drive Thru Customers Beware** We stopped at this Carl's Jr.in BB after a day on the mountain and almost went through the drive-thru. Thank God I decided to step inside first to use the restroom and possibly dine in. The moment I opened the door we all stood there in absolute shock. The dining room was filthy. Dirty tables, trash all over the floor and "all over" is not an exaggeration. There were food droppings on and under every single table. The floors clearly hadn't been swept or mopped in days, if not longer. Without hesitation, I didn't step another foot inside, I didn't use the restroom, and I certainly didn't place an order. We all turned right around and left. That's how bad it was. If this is what customers can see, it really makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like and how the food is being prepared. It's out first time in big bear and came to order through drive through and the staff was amazing, and friendly. I had ordered 2 famous stars with cheese and stars for combo. They forgot my famous star and I went inside the restaurant and they gave me back my order the manager didn't see his name offered to give me a double but I only wanted what I ordered. They where so nice to me and they even try to offer me a bigger option for the burger. This was so nice of the manager and staff. Highly recommend. This Carl's Jr is a biohazard in disguise. I made the mistake of ordering a Western Burger and a Diet Coke from the fountain -- a few hours later I was sprinting to the bathroom like I'd just swallowed battery acid. First solid, then pure liquid. That's not a meal, that's chemical warfare. The place is filthy, the staff look like they're half-asleep, and the food clearly isn't fit for human consumption. The soda machine tastes like it hasn't been cleaned since the Bush administration. The burger? Let's just say it left me communing with my toilet in ways I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. This isn't "fast food." It's a public health threat with a drive-thru. Honestly, I hope the health department brings a Hazmat team, because this location should be condemned. If you value your health, your dignity, or your plumbing, avoid this Carl's Jr like the plague. Unless, of course, you enjoy paying money to poison yourself. read more

16+ change for a Karl's Starburger double medium fry medium Coke. Went through the drive-through of course drove away realized that it wasn't Coke. It was Dr Pepper. Took a bite of the crisscross french fry. My mouth was filled with grease. They weren't hot and be clearly not cooking them at the proper temperature because there should not be that much grease on anything you take a bite of. Drove back, walked in no solution for the crisscross fry, but he tried to pawn off the regular fries to me which I do not like. I got my refund and left with a Coke and my burger. I won't be back I can go to Stater Brothers get a pound of hamburger for six dollars package of buns, condiments are at home (add two dollars ), still less than the $16 burger and I can feed myself for a week. I went inside and was greeted with the most amazing smile I have seen her name was Shannon and she was very nice and patient with me because I had my disabled cousin with me and she was very generous too wait and let us take our time. Once our food came it was very nicely done and very good looking we ate it and was very delicious 100% recommend. The restaurant itself is very clean and token care of we walked in and saw the worker Shannon again making the place nice and clean for everyone around it was a very nice experience and I enjoyed the food and the customer service thank you Shannon!! read more

AVOID THIS LOCATION. I would avoid this location if you were in town & I live here. There are quality concerns I hope are addressed. My food was tampered with after asking them to remake an order that was cold. I was really disappointed (and disgusting) especially working in Food & Beverage. I had ordered a Dr Pepper with my meal at the Carl's Jr location in Big Bear Lake, CA. When I tasted my drink I discovered that they gave me a diet Dr Pepper. Not a big deal, but I asked them to replace it with the correct drink. The employee at first argued with me that it was the correct soda. Then argued that "that's just how it tastes" as if I've never drank a Dr Pepper before in my lifetime. He stormed away and gave me a sample to supposedly prove it, but this time he actually gave me the correct one. This seemed to annoy him more and he ultimately replaced the diet with the regular Dr Pepper, but he didn't feel the need to apologize for the mistake or his behavior. It's completely inappropriate behavior so I felt the need to contact Carl's Jr about it. I learned that even though I found a customer service phone number online, that they apparently don't staff that phone at all and require all complaints to their website. The response I received from the website was an unapologetic copy and paste response that claimed that someone would contact me. It's been a month as of today and not one attempt has been made to contact me. Clearly Carl's Jr is okay with poor customer service on both the store and corporate levels. read more

Dunno what was going on with our order but every item had something wrong with it. And this isn't the first time! Just first time writing about it. The hand breaded chicken sandwich was burnt on stale bread that was totally slathered in mayo. Nothing else there, just tons of mayo. Not to mention that thanks to inflation, the meat is now 1/3 inch thick and small. Fit for a 10 yr old not an adult. Large fry (which was supposed to be jalapeno poppers) was half full. Medium onion rings were overcooked and terrible. Our other burger for some reason has ranch dressing on the outside of it making it messy to get to and it was completely sloppy and skimped on. $30?? My body needed the carbs as I always love me some carbs and most importantly I was going to be spending a day up on bear mountain shredding the slope *insert hang loose hand* therefore one does not play with her carbohydrate to glucose breakdown for energy. Now I could have went with Mcdonald's, I passed them a while back down the road but I mean last time that I checked they do not cater to vegans/vegetarians and the ice cream machine was broken so no thanks. This place is horrible! The manager laughs and cusses with the workers. She wears a hat and glasses. We stood there in line only people in the store while they laughed and cussed at eachother. I'm not a fast food person but I was really hungry and got the chicken strips. They are fresh and tasty. One time I went and got a 3 piece with fries..... fries were crap and the chicken was good but they were very small pieces. The 2nd time I went the pieces were much larger. And very tasty. I will definitely return for the chicken. Hopefully the sizes portions will be of value. I did drive through and the people taking drive through orders are nice and they don't rush you. read more

Do not go here if you have a specific choice on how you like your food because the employees do not care. I got a western bacon cheeseburger with just meat, cheese and bacon and no sauce and no onion rings and they gave me onion rings and barbecue sauce. We DoorDash the food, and it came in cold. I've ordered from them three different times and they've got my order wrong every single time and we took a two-year break from them because how horrible their services was. we gave them another shot.
