I purchased at Toro Time Cutter SS4235 from Sal at the Patchogue location. I had done quite a bit of research as to what I wanted and what I did not want. I was assured the mower I would be getting had a 22HP Kohler 7000 series V-Twin engine and not the Kohler Courage engine. The Courage engine has horrible reviews all over the internet, so much so that they replaced the V-Twin with the redesigned 7000 series for 2014. I really wanted the Kawasaki engine but was told they couldn't get them. The mower was delivered on 6/7/14 with the Courage engine. I didn't notice until about five minutes after the driver left, so I called the store in Patchogue to tell the salesman of the mistake. He immediately blamed the Riverhead store, that's who actually delivered it, and told me to call them. I spoke with the manager there and said it had to be a mistake on Patchogue's part. After several more calls to both stores I finally got them to pick up the mower that day and issue me a refund. I had to drive to the Riverhead store to get the refund and dealt with the manager, Chris, who refunded my money. Oddly enough, he had a Kawasaki engine model in the store, despite what the Patchogue salesman told me, but I was too burned to take it from them for another $100. It turns out they sent me the 2013 model, not the 2014 model I had been assured I would receive.
I went online and ordered the Kawasaki model from mowersdirect.com and got the Kawasaki model with no tax and no shipping. All in all, I wound up saving $250 to get the actual one I really wanted. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Carl's ever again. read more
