Prices felt higher than what we usually see at other Suffolk County nurseries, though we didn't buy anything to compare directly. What really stood out was the lack of service. The parking lot was full, but it was hard to find anyone actually working or available to help. If you're after perennials, boxwoods, or larger Japanese maples, Forge River has had a much better selection in our experience.

They have a Hobbit inspired one, Star Wars, The Little Mermaid and other fairy gardens! I was mesmerized the whole time. I ended up buying a 3 tiered fountain, herbs and small statues. As I was paying, i saw some things I really wanted and went and got them...a birdcage, gourmet soups and a garden decoration. If you're a garden, plant lover, you'd better be ready to spend! There was no holding me back that day. If I could, I'd buy everything!!! Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable. What's great is that everyone who shops there all know each other. As I was being helped by Jackie (I think that's her name) 3 women came and talked up their fountains and how much they loved theirs. Everyone was so pleasant, informative and friendly. For customers, who didn't know each other to talk about their wonderful experiences there made it really easy for me to make my decision. Better believe, I'll be back!

The space is so vast you can lose yourself in all the abundance of climbing tropical foliage, giant fiddle fig trees, evergreen citrus tree such as kumquat , small fruit tree like lemon and lime. Mixed in a splash of red and white Amaryllis and yellow and oranges around every corner. The sharpest red geraniums that look like they will be ready for sale soon. Spring is just getting started. Heirloom tomatoes come in various colors from yellow, orange, odd cherry red, purplish, green, and my personal favorite dark green mixed with red.. The concept was around for years as families used the same seeds for generations. Growers often tried to cultivate colors and shapes they liked. There are many rare ones. The ones here are more of the popular ones. They taste amazing, have far more flavor, seem devoid of acid, and are often either gorgeous or horridly ugly.. They are sometimes creepy when small growers grow them.. but are cooler still.. A real treat in the summer with mixed greens or even better as my mother likes them just sliced into wedges. They go out of season on the east end with the weather.. except here.. where greenhouse is on steroids. The proprietor is a greenhouse expert and powers up the east end delivering wholesale to other farm stands. Even other tomato growers sometimes sell these along side their own more so in the fall. They are not certified organic.. Organic heirlooms can be found at Sang Lee and Garden of Eve. This is the source of most heirlooms after the season ends.. I literally just picked up a bunch all the way at Young's Farm in Brookville and they were brought in from here.

Hire someone. Interesting. I have two healthy, red blooded able bodies that I feed on a daily basis. I have sons! Sheep Pasture Tree & Nursery Supply comes to my rescue. They are a neighborhood supplier of mulch and different colored rocks. I see these big landscaping trucks every Saturday filled with mulch. These guys have a team. My team is called: Bill S Offspring I walk in on Saturday morning and talk to the counter person. They have a mock back yard, I ask for two yards of stone. I think I need about two, how much would that cover? The counter person shows me the yard out back and says about from here to here. Perfect. I pay for my rocks and in 90 minutes they drop two yards of river stone on my driveway. How's that for service?? Now its time to move two yards of river stone up hill to my yard. My oldest son zooms out, Gotta go to work but good luck with this rock thingy! But my younger son who is now driving my old jeep? Smiling.. lets get to work! We moved the rocks and positioned them in a very decorative fashion. I have to pay people to do this, what am I a Royal?!? I still go to the box stores a buy a few bags of mulch at $3.50 per bag. If you need a bunch of mulch for a spring cleanup? I highly recommend Sheep Pasture Tree & Nursery Supply. They delivered the material on the same day as well as take credit cards. Don't by shy about this place! It's not for landscapers only. If you need a large delivery of mulch or rocks, consider Sheep Pasture Tree & Nursery Supply. Son not included.
