Prices felt higher than what we usually see at other Suffolk County nurseries, though we didn't buy anything to compare directly. What really stood out was the lack of service. The parking lot was full, but it was hard to find anyone actually working or available to help. If you're after perennials, boxwoods, or larger Japanese maples, Forge River has had a much better selection in our experience.

One younger employee was kind and tried to defuse the situation, even telling me not to listen to him because he was a "grump." I was prepared to spend over $500, but I left without buying a single plant. I understand that I arrived near closing time, but I had called ahead and expected basic courtesy and professionalism. Instead, I felt unwelcome, belittled, and as though my business was an inconvenience. Unfortunately, the negative reviews I read beforehand turned out to be accurate. I chose not to spend my money at a business that treats customers this way. Respect and customer service matter, regardless of the time of day.

Free to enter and nary a soul. There are plenty of pumpkins around. I took some pics, I bought a cute set of tiny pumpkins for $3 and all in all had my fill of pumpkins for the fall!
