Great location, right next to interstate 694, and a lot of shopping areas and fast food. Normally customer service is pretty good. Sometimes it feels they are just talking amongst themselves. But they make excellent drinks. I normally get a weird drink that isn't really on the menu, so they get confused or have to remake it sometimes. But I like what I like. If you like sweet drinks, I would recommend trying a vanilla white mocha cooler with 1 full shot of Carmel. Cures the sweet tooth and addictive! Coffee was good, but I can't eat any sandwich on the menu. I'm lactose intolerant and they cannot remove the cheese from their "handcrafted" sandwiches. LOCATION: Off the freeway with plenty of parking and a driver through. DECOR: Typical Caribou coffee shoot setup and standalone building PRICE: Typical prices one par with competition. $4-$7. DRINKS: Quite a bit better tasting than the typical fast coffee shop with sugars and syrups and chocolates added. Oh, and chocolate covered roasted coffee beans on top of the lid. I personally would have rather them ask than to put them on top of my drink. They of course started to melt on top of my hot coffee and now my lid is messy. But that's just a personal preference so take that with a grain of salt. FOOD: I wish I could tell you. I tried to get a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich without cheese and could not due to their inability to remove the cheese. STAFF: Nice, unapologetic and forgetful. Not like the employees at Dutch Bros. They make sure you never forget them. Lol. EXPERIENCE: For some odd reason, they don't have the ability to remove cheese from any sandwich and every sandwich has cheese including the Beyond Meat sandwich! Beyond Meat is a vegan substitute for meat and you put unremovable cheese on it! What the literal fork is going on here?! And she wasn't even apologetic. It felt like they didn't care about something as common as a person wanting no cheese. Then again, this was in Minnesota, the Cheese State. Went in person and waited 15 minutes for one drink and it wasn't even overly busy. The 6 employees mouth were working faster than their hands were. I checked with them and they didn't do it so I asked for a refund. Employee never really confirmed what was the decision. I went back and asked to speak to a manager and the employee said they were going to give me a refund. Manager offered a free drink but I was done with them. The manger couldn't figure out the refund system so I had to wait another 8 minutes. The employees here need extra training on prioritizing the customers' orders over their irrelevant side conversations. read more

This Caribou is quite hidden and the parking lot can be a challenge but I love its cleanliness of it! There are plenty of spaces to sit and work. The coffee was also delicious and on point! I was able to work from here for a few hours during my trip. I will visit this location again in the near future. read more

Being a MN lover I try to support Caribou and always choose them over Starbucks, but this location is a disaster. The drive thru is frequently packed, that wouldn't be an issue except the line does not move at all. I waited 18 minutes in the same spot, left, went to the Caribou off 36, and was leaving the drive thru all in 12 minutes with my coffee. There's no line inside, the problem is no ones there to take your order either. They're all huddled behind the high frosted glass near the drive thru window, so they don't see you or walk to the front to check if someone's there. When they see you it's like you ruined their day. Get rid of the frosted glass so you can see your customers. Lastly, the place is filthy. Tables are sticky with trash all over, windows are all smudged, and there's crap all over the ground. Always has great service and food. The workers are extremely friendly every time I come. The atmosphere is super cozy, and everything is clean. They occasionally run out of certain food items, but generally they are stocked. Currently they are taking great COVID precautions! read more

I love this place. The staff is always pretty friendly and can even say bubbly. It's nice though. I usually do not order anything but regular coffees from here so I cannot comment on the quality of their other drinks; however, I rarely have to wait long unless it's a super busy time like Saturday/Sunday mornings. So my friend and i walked into this caribou today as normal, we asked very politely for our two nitro high rises in a large cup and they gave the rudest most disgusted look as if why in the world we're asking such a stupid question, and when politely asked if we could use our shift drinks since we hadn't had them yet (we are other caribou employees as well) they were rude about it, scoffed and said "um- no??" Overall the customer service was bad, they were not polite, and i don't recommend going here because that's usually how it goes here. They're never fully nice to you and drinks take forever no matter how dead the inside is, also our nitro high rises weren't even nitro, it was cold press or something because it was extremely watered down had has little to no flavor in them at all, we also got two 1/3 way filled large cups each instead of the two drinks in one for a more convenient usage. read more

I don't even know what I'm drinking right now. But it's certainly not a northern lite with 2 extra shots. I've been here 3 times the first time was fine. The last 2 my orders were wrong. And of course this last time I was with my boss who lets stuff slide if things go wrong. They yelled at her. they would probably do better if they had more than 3 team members. One of which bouncing from drive they to front reg. they Are located off a freeway and across from the mall and strip malls use your brain. The only reason I am giving this place a one star rating is because I couldn't leave a review without it. The customer service is horrible here! I used to frequent this caribou because of it's close proximity to my house and 694, and the convenience of the drive thru, but I'm done with them. Nearly every time I go there, they get my order wrong. I've had to check my drink before leaving to make sure it's correct. I typically order a hot chocolate and almost every time am given a mocha. I'm a person who is very, very sensitive to the amount of caffeine that is in coffee, so drinking a mocha for me would be bad. When they gave me the wrong drink one time, (mocha instead of hot chocolate) I told them it was wrong and they fixed it but did not refund the difference (the mocha costs more than a hot chocolate and I was charged for a mocha). Once when my husband and I ordered, the barista gave me my total before I could finish ordering. When I said I would like to add a drink to my order, he told me I would have to order at the window. What?!? My husband was so upset by the stupidity of the person... First of all, please ask if that would be all or would I like anything else, and secondly, you should be able to easily add something to an order before getting to the window. My husband decided not to add his drink to the order. On top of it all, they are so SLOW! Forget about quick service if you arrive during their busy time and there are more than two cars in the drive thru lane. You're better off making your own coffee at home and filling a travel mug. I finally was so fed up the other day I contacted them via email. I received a response very quickly from the regional manager offering me a $5 Caribou gift card for my troubles. $5 doesn't begin to cover the amount of money I've spent on incorrect drinks (who has time to take the drink back every time it's wrong?) and time spent waiting for them to make the correct drink, but it's better than nothing. I'll be taking my $5 gift card to a different Caribou, and definitely will not be returning to this location again. read more

This is a great Caribou Coffee - - friendly staff, and a great location (especially if you're conducting interviews or small meetings here). They have two private rooms that you can reserve - -works out well for me and my work interviews that I need to conduct.The few times I've been here, it's always been busy - - so having those quieter meeting rooms has been greatly appreciated. I have been to this Caribou a few times. Its pretty small but still has the fireplace and some comfy chairs to settle in and get comfy with a good book. There are only about seven small tables and not many outlets. I am all about keeping my computer and Iphone plugged in so the first thing I look for is a plug in. This is not one of those places I would settle in for a lengthy stay. The service is middle of the road. I do have to agree with other yelpers in that the Baristas here don't seem as friendly as most. The whole aura of the place is not my thing so I doubt I will come here often. Great place to study, hangout, socialize, and enjoy a cup of coffee or grab a quick bite to eat. I'll admit that my first few visits were alright, it took while for a barista to notice you waiting in front of the cashier as they tend to be gathered near the drive-thru where they are blocked from seeing if anyone is waiting. So waiting will depend on if there's an employee already at the cashier or if they happen to walk by the cashier and notice people waiting. There's a large divider between the cashiers and the drive-thru area which blocks most people from seeing an employee or them seeing you. However, Erika will cheer you up! She's always in a good mood and not afraid to talk to her customers! Wish more employees at other locations were like her! read more

I'm probably not a great representative for Caribou because I don't really like the taste of their espresso, but coffee aside, I do like this location. It has 2 conference rooms (but book in advance, it's usually pretty booked if you try same day), and a lot of seating. Unfortunately, per the conference room booking tip, it's a busy location. Tables can be hard to come by, so I don't recommend it for co working. Caribou on 36 is way better for that (as long as it isn't winter, then you'll freeze). read more

I agree that this location is not up to the quality of other Caribou locations. My drinks have tasted very weak and taste nothing like I have come to expect from all the other 'Bou stores I've visited. When I complained, I was told drinks were made according to the Caribou 'standards'. Don't expect improvement here- they have their heads in the sand with all the negative reviews and in person complaints. Do yourself a favor and head further south on White Bear where a more typical 'boy resides. They don't have a drive through, but I've never had a problem with my drink order there. read more

OMG! Talk about SLOW! I'm sitting in the drive through, 'cause it's SUPPOSED to be faster right? NO! after sitting behind ONE car, that was at the order/speaker for 8 minutes, I get the thrill of trying to place an order of 1 large Campfire Mocha, milk chocolate, with half and half. I speak slowly, and enunciate clearly. I had to repeat myself 5 times! And then, she STILL couldn't get it right. I CORRECTED her 5 times! Said, HALF and HALF, not half caff! Get to the window, and had to go over it AGAIN! Finally saying "you DO have Half & Half, don't you? All in all, it took 17 minutes to get ONE coffee! Still, a minute less than when I walked inside, to get the SAME coffee! 17-18 minutes to get a cup of coffee? Actually, I could have driven home, used my Keurig, and gotten a cup, then given BACK to give it to my daughter at work It's not like they have to roast the beans, first! read more

This is one of the worst, if not the worst, Caribou that I've ever been to. The Americanos are very weak, the baristas are veeery slow, and there is a lot of wasted space - they could get more chairs in the place. The fireplace is nice though. The parking lot needs to be fixed!!! I live very close and I have actually started to just make my own coffee in the morning rather than go here. ALSO - whats up with the new (may I add GROSS) breakfast items. I used to love to get a small coffee and french toast muffin and that was my treat for the week...and now they hand you a "vanilla cinnamon" muffin that looks like something I made in Kindergarten and tastes like bran cereal. I come to this caribou before school.. My drinks are perfect every time! They are fast and friendly and the place is well kept! Definitely recommended! I switched my regular mint condition cooler to a northern lite.. Less calories and it's still the best cooler I've had! I went to Starbucks and asked for something similar to a northern lite and it was horrible! Kind of a funny story he didn't even know what a northern lite was! Anyway caribou is where it's at! I was there last week and ordered an medium pumpkin ginger latte. When i got to the window the gal said "you have the pumpkin chai latte?" I said no i have the pumpkin ginger latte. The other gal took the lid off the coffe and said"this is the pumpkin ginger i didnt make anything with chai" with a rude tone. I asked that it be re-made so to be correct. They did but it was not a very good coffee. As i got to the end it was very thick and clumpy. So I thought whatever. That same week on thursday it was my birthday so i thought I would go back to caribou for a coffee. This was a different location and i ordered the same pumpkin ginger latte. And being the good sales person they upsold me a egg sausage cheese biscuit. My bill was almost 9 dollars. When I got to my office and opened the bag that is not what was in the bag. They had given me a muffin. Not happy that I had to pay $4 for a muffin. I called the store and spoke to the manager and there was nothing he could do for me other than take ny name for the next time that i came in. I said no i will not be returning! I said this is unacceptable and that this happened twice in 1 week with 2 different stores. He had his general manager call me and she refunded my whole order. I have been to this location several times just because it is nearby and convenient if I want a quiet place to study or just to enjoy their great coffee. Let me tell you, their coffee... amazing! Their location? Beautiful! Their service? Not so good. You either sit at the drive through forever or sit at the front forever while you openly stare at the ghost town and delicious coffee and treats that you are urging to get your hands on! I really wish things would run smoother and the employees would have better attitudes towards their jobs. I noticed that they pay attention and rarely have gotten my order wrong but I think the attitudes are unacceptable! It is such a shame that some of the employees are so kind and then you turn your head and there is another employee with the worst attitude. There was one lady with maroon ish purple hair that was like "be there in a moment" and another lady just barged in with a bad attitude lol. I really loved the first lady, she seemed so kind and really wanted to help, and when she handed me my order she said "now you have an amazing day!" gosh some people are great. Other wise, the service time and speed are the only things that concern me. I will still go there but I do prefer other coffee shops. Also, I do not recommend their bubbles, they do not come up the straws and they don't taste very good. I would rather just buy the drink without the bubbles! I insanely recommend their blended campfire though as it tastes amazing! It is my go to every time and am definitely going back for the campfire any time. My daughter and her friend were enjoying their overpriced coffee drinks a few weeks ago in this Caribou. Three young men went to the counter and got glasses of water from the employees behind the counter, then started loitering and changing seats in the restaurant. One of them threw water on the friend's computer, then his accomplice stole my daughter's smartphone and ran with it. Caribou has consistently denied any responsibility for the losses incurred on their premises, and when pressed, reluctantly acknowledged having a camera that records transactions at the counter, where the thieves were served water, photos of which would help in identifying them. A call to corporate resulted in another denial of liability. This is not the place to go if you want to drink your coffee quietly, in peace, unassaulted, particularly if you have any electronic devices. I think it's actually a bad thing that they have wi-fi since your devices are not safe there, and Maplewood Caribou Coffee takes no responsibility for what happens to their customers on their premises. read more
