Ossipee has a great new restaurant where OMG was...Caribbean Spice Cafe is in the house!!! The owner/chef will greet you with a welcome and a smile...the waite staff will too and is sooo friendly. We had the Jerk Chicken, your mouth will water every time you think of these, Cajon Wings, crazy good...and Jerk Pork Flatbread.....everything so far OUT OF CONTROL!!!. When we came in there was what looked like a hostess station to the left so we waited a few minutes before one of the regulars let us know to just seat ourselves. Within a few minutes some one came to fill our water and take our order. It turned out that he was the the owner, chef, waiter and bartender. Even with all that he was patient and pleasant. The order arrived much quicken than I thought that it would. And it was excellent. Was it authentic? It seemed to be. Was it delicious? Yes. The restaurant has a new location on rt 16 in Ossipee. The staff is welcoming and the food is awesome. I had the jerk chicken and asked for it to be a bit more spicy . The chicken was tender and tasted Smokey with some nice heat from the jerk sauce. It was served with sautéed vegetables which had a nice crisp taste and weren't over done. I also got the rice and peas for my side which was also delicious. Washed it all down with a nice cold red stripe. Made me think about y visits to Jamaica. If you want to try a bit of the Caribbean then you definitely need to check this place out. read more

Terrific (and authentic) Jamaican cuisine! Green plantain nachos are terrific, and entrees like Jerk Chicken and Oxtail are beautifully spiced! Great little space with a nice looking patio when there aren't snowbanks! In the winter, it's wonderfully warming food! read more

Food was good. My fried chicken was really moist and not greasy. The slaw was delicious and I loved it. My wife had a upset stomach before we sat down. I am only in town for two days but have eaten lunch and dinner here. Food is so good. Full of flavor. Veggies cooked to perfection. Lunch was curried goat with rice and peas and dinner was grilled veggies and a beef patty. This was such a delight. If I'm ever back in this area I will certainly return. This is a welcome addition to this area and my wife and I both found this place to be excellent. My wife had oxtail with rice and peas and steamed vegetables and thought it was great and very authentic (one of her best friends is Jamaican and loves her food). I am not a huge fan of a lot of Jamaican food, so I went with the fried chicken with French fries and it was truly one of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The spices were a great blend and it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. We spoke with the owner for a bit and he said all of his food is fresh and freshly made, including his spice blends which he blends 3 times a week. We would definitely suggest giving this place a try, and we will definitely be back. read more

I tried this restaurant for the very first time today. I got to the restaurant around noon time, and it became immediately clear that the restaurant was short staffed. There was nobody to greet us at the door, or to seat us. After waiting for what seemed like eternity, I started to leave when a voice called out and said "Sit anywhere you want". I sat in the rear dining room, and the waiter was very cordial. But you could tell that he was quite overwhelmed since he was apparently the only wait-staff that was on the job. I ordered Jerk Chicken, and it took quite a while for it to come to the table. When it did, I wasn't exactly sure of what I was looking at. There was a totally black blob on my plate along with the rice that I had ordered. I finally figured out that the black blob was the very charred bone side up, of the wing-quarter of a chicken. Upon flipping it over, it then became clear that it was indeed chicken. Being the wing quarter of a chicken, it consisted of breast meat that was attached to the rib cage, and a small wing. That cut of chicken can be difficult to eat, and this one was especially difficult to handle. To say that the meat was quite dried, and overcooked would be an understatement. A better description would be that it was some sort of a burnt offering that had later been mummified. Now I'll admit that I am certainly no expert in Caribbean cuisine. And I'll also admit that I had never been to a Caribbean style restaurant before. But if what was brought to the table was authentic Caribbean gastronomy, then I never want to try another Caribbean style restaurant ever again in this lifetime. read more

I was hungry and I have always wanted to try Jamaican food. Me and my dad came here the second to last day we were up there. The food is amazing the staff was amazing. I really recommend if you wanna try Jamaican food. The last day before we left to go home we went right back and got the same thing again. 10/10 on the food. It was a little pricey but it was made with love. The only problem was that their food takes a while but it's so so so worth waiting for. I have all the time in the world to wait for the grilled cajun shrimp and curry. Very satisfied customer. read more

I've been to Jamaica, am married to a Jamaican and have eaten at Jamaican restaurants all over. Previously I'd either travel to Boston or Montreal to get good Jamaican food. So, I'm a huge fan of the cuisine which is why we were so excited when these guys showed up in North Conway. The food isn't bad, but it's cooked to order, which means they won't start preparing it till you order, which means there's a fair amount of waiting. Typically Jamaican places have multiple trays of already cooked food that's ready to go. This isn't a huge deal I suppose. What's a little more of a bummer is that the serving sizes are very small and the entries are very expensive for what you get. I'll still be back and hope they improve. The food at Caribbean Spice is as authentic as you can get without traveling to the islands and was bursting with flavour. From the moment I walked through the door, with the decor and background music, I forgot that I was in North Conway. We were a party of four and ordered different dishes in order to sample as much as we could, and they did not disappoint. Just scrumptious. I had the oxtail and from I took the first bite, I began to calculate when I was going to return. Too bad never got a chance to eat since before we got to sit down ask for an alcoholic beverage and was asked by one of the owners for an ID. I am 66 years old and my girlfriend is 57. Thought she was kidding at first but she wasn'. She went on that NH Law states every person should be "carded ". Wow... we have been coming to North Conway area for years and never asked for an ID to get a drink. Lets put it this way, they better know the actual laws before stating such false information. NH law states "Anyone in question of being under 21 shall be asked for an ID". Felt this needed to be posted. read more

This Cafe is charming and place settings included cloth napkins. I had the Island Shrimp Scampi and loved it. The pasta and interesting mix of vegetables were expertly seasoned and cooked by Chef Andre who prepared and served the meal. He was friendly and the level of service was outstanding. The freshly brewed iced tea was excellent. I don't often write reviews, but this was a special dining experience. My only complaint was that the food was so good I couldn't stop eating until every bite was gone despite the generous serving size. Walked in and got the Curried Goat for take out, with the rice and peas as the side. I enjoy it. it was a nice change from all the standard options up there in North Conway. The rice was a nice side, the "Peas" are more a black eyed bean to most people. Would have thought it would be a bit busier given the tasty food, but can't account for that. They should run a discount red strip beer tap at some point, I would have sat and had a couple while free on my own waiting for my food, just a thought ;) read more

Very good perfectly spiced, Caribbean cuisine. The menu is limited, but everything we had was very very good. They have a full liquor license and make some interesting drinks. I had their Caribbean burger, which was perfectly seasoned, and my companion had the fish tacos which she said were delicious Everything was prepared to order. And tasted it. Our food was served by a delightful woman. All in all I recommend this Restaurant. You won't be disappointed. read more
