    Jerk chicken fries

What an amazing hidden gem! Absolutely Delicious! I got the jerk chicken fries they were so tasty! Authentic Caribbean flavors!

Yum!! I've never tried Caribbean food before and my husband provided a list of food options in VA Beach and this was one of his top 10 to try. Pro: the Caribbean Jerk Shrimp and Cauliflower were good. My husband thought Spicy Pork Bowl was really good. The kids had burgers and liked it a lot. It was nice to see Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives made an appearance here and liked the food also! Con: wished they had a sit down area to eat. Also a bit pricey, but wanted to try this and glad I did. The wait time was long, so be prepared to order ahead of time. Would I come back, maybe.. but a def a spot to try as a tourist.

Plenty of vegetarian options! The cauliflower was great with the subtle coconut rice. The green curry with chicken was delicious and definitely the crowd fave. I wish I had the chance to try the lentils, but they were sold out towards the end of the night. Order ahead of time - you have to order on a screen indoors anyways

This is a takeout spot (two small tables outside). The service was great. The food is decent, I'd recommend the jerk shrimp bowl and a side of Mac n cheese and plantains. I would've liked more flavor to the dishes and less oil though.

As aficionados of ethnic and spicy foods, my daughter and I were looking forward to visiting this restaurant. Plus, my daughter had visited the US Virgin Islands a number of years ago, and enjoyed the food while there. Location. (4/5). The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall on West Great Neck Road relatively close to the intersection of Shore Drive. There's easy parking or you could cross Shore Dr, walking from the beach. It's location is a bit hidden. Ambiance. (3/5). This is a take-out or delivery only restaurant. You can order ahead of time or on a computer when you enter the restaurant. There is a small sitting area where you can wait for your take-out order. Food (4/5). We ordered, and split, three items. (1) Granny's Curry Chicken Bowl, with Coconut Milk Rice & Beans ($12.95); (2) Shack Jerk Chicken Bowl with same sides) ($12.95), and Sweet Plantain ($3.49). All of the food was tasty with a good blend of spices. The Jerk Chicken had more chili spiciness than the curry; the curry had more chicken in the bowl. According to their website, each entree had 1/2 pound of meat. For our tastes, we would've preferred if the entrees included more vegetables than they did. Service. (4/5). Ordering was easy, and the woman who went back and forth from the small counter to the kitchen in the back confirmed our order and was pleasant. The order arrived in a reasonable amount of time (about 15 minutes without pre-ordering). Value (3/5). Seemed a bit expensive ($32.77 after tax but before tip) given the quantities provided and the fact that this is a take-out only place without the overheads of a sit-down restaurant. Also, there is no restroom for patrons. Finally, kudos for the compostable containers and brown paper bags!

The food was amazing and reasonably priced. We tried the jerked pork and chicken and the grannies curry chicken. Everything was delicious The woman that took our order was one of the nicest and genuinely attentive people I've met working at a restaurant in a long time. They don't have indoor seating but it was a beautiful day so we sat outside and ate on one of the small tables that were available. I definitely want to try some other dishes on my next trip to the area!

I was in the area so i hadn't had Carib Shack in a few years. So i went online to place my order. The online ordering is pretty easy to navigate. Pickup was within 20 minutes. When i arrived the owner brought me my order. She was smiling and very nice. I did like her vibe. Its a small restaurant and i don't think they offer dine in right now, only take out. There's a screen up front so you can place your order on your own. There was no one else there so i chatted with the owner then left. I ordered the coco burger, loaded jerk pork fries, jerk shrimp, and rum cake. The coco burger has soft bread which i enjoyed, the burger was ok but definitely needed more seasoning. It just seemed to be missing something, but was still ok. The jerk shrimp was mildly spicy with a yummy garlic aioli sauce. My fav was the loaded jerk pork fries. All the flavors came together and it was filling. I'd get those again. Now in the past i really liked the rum cake, but not so much this visit. It was different. Its ok if you microwave it a couple secs, but i wasn't a fan of the cake room temperature. The plantains were good and a little sweet, they complimented the fries... I was full and had plenty leftover!! All in all a decent visit, nice owner with good customer service, and good food. Check them out!!! (This is an updated review, so the interior pics were from pre-covid. )

The cook on the food was ok. But I would have to say it was very bland. Not sure if I would classify this place as Caribbean.

It was brand new & the woman tending the store was friendly, energetic & passionate about the food she was serving. I ordered jerk chicken but she insisted on letting me have a taste of everything on the menu. Everything was delicious & I now had a new obsession- the sweet coco bread. For years after that whenever I was around I would pop in. I've since moved to GA and been living here for almost ten years. Any transplant will tell you sometimes only family & food keep you tethered to your home state. So happens this wknd I was in town for my sisters wedding & got my hair done a couple blocks away from Island Krave. As she finished up I placed an order on Uber eats, really excited for this meal- something familiar & missed. To see how the quality & care has declined truly hurts my heart. The portion of meat they served me was actually disrespectful to people who work hard for their money & choose to support a small business. These pictures are after they added some. If you're going to chop it to smitherens you need to measure it out to ensure the portions make sense. Anyone that cooks can tell you this is a thigh at best. & this is a $17 plate. I don't want to talk down on the place too much it's just sad how much of a let down the entire meal was after I felt like they threw my stuff together thinking it was being delivered and they wouldn't have to look me in the face. The Mac was good & the flavor of the chicken was as well. Cabbage mushy & salty. Rice is not yellow. & apparently $5 gets you one slice of coco bread now (I got two bc of my troubles, ha!) Idk I hope they can figure it out but personally I would never spend another dollar in this place.

When you can take simple beans & rice and create something so delectable, you know this is top notch. The steak was well cooked, the chorizo was Smokey and delicious and the beef & chicken was packed with flavor. While the kitchen was quite slow tonight, all of the servers were so kind and attentive. And the food was well worth the wait. While it was a quiet Monday tonight, it was clear that some nights are probably a party! Lots of room, looks like opportunity for live music which looks fun! The regular beef empanada was good. I do wish we had known to ask for sauce. I've noticed much much later really way too late. The other tables had sauces and ours did not so I am sure the empanada would've been even better with some sort of sauce. The sampler was OK. It was basically the same thing sort of repeated three different times and three different breads, but the breadsall tastes the same they were just different shapes. I wasn't a big fan of the chicken that was shredded inside, but my son loved the cheese sticks. The best were the tacos. Hands down I would skip the other items and go straight to the tacos. They were absolutely delicious. And there was definitely enough rice and beans with the one to go around. Service was OK. They forgot about us for a long time and they never offered the sauces until the very end when I saw the other tables had it and I asked for some but at that point I only had one taco left and we had eaten everything else. They weren't busy either because we are early birds when it comes to eating. It is definitely authentic and I would try it again, but maybe just be more cognizant of what's available.

When he called the restaurant, they went back and forth with him, insisting he had the item and confusing it with a veggie tray. It was very frustrating and unprofessional. I drove all the way back from my home in Chesapeake to resolve the issue. While there, I also returned the glory greens because they were clearly not fresh or properly prepared. I asked to swap them for cabbage, but the cabbage wasn't fully cooked. After waiting an additional 10 minutes, they asked if I would prefer a refund instead.
