Jerk chicken Oxtail & Chicken Combo Rice&peas and mac
    Nathan E.

This was very underwhelming the jerk chicken taste like it's been sitting too long and under seasoned. The oxtails were whatever.

You walk in and it is relaxing and homie, good music in the background. The young lady taking the order was kind and chill. The food was A-MAZING. Wt was super filling. So much food and the price wasn't that bad. I ordered The Sampler or something but it was great. Had two sides and the rice with greens. It was very ddelicious and I still have for tomorrow. This is definitely a hole in the wall and they have a bar in the back and in the back back they have hookah "lounge" or at least that's what I heard from the young lady. Definitely coming back

Service was good and food was pretty good. I may come back and try something else. I can't wait to try their oxtails.

    Jerk Chicken Rasta Pasta

The jerk chicken was very flavorful but a little dried out and the pasta could have used more sauce and seasoning. I will say the flavor of the chicken alone will make me go back and try just the jerk chicken entree in the future though!

    Birthday party vibes at night
    Maria C.

I must say, I did not know what to expect when I was invited to a birthday party at this location. The address (street name) sounded so familiar when I received an invitation to party here. You know this used to be Maymar Restaurant. I had no idea MayMar had left the building... when I don't know. But Jam Cafe are the new owners of this space. I attended a birthday party here last Saturday night. We arrived about 9:15 pm. A few people were standing outside, not sure why, but others were pulling up and walking inside. They seemed to be partygoers like us. I remembered how MayMar was set up and thought to myself it cannot be but so big inside... and it's not. Soon as you walk in you're on the open dance floor and only a few steps from the bar area! This place is about 900 square feet if that. This was even more alarming. But my babe and I gave it a try. As the night went on, the DJ was rocking the spot and the bartenders were serving up amazing cocktails. And the crowd was comfy... we could dance and still breathe. I said about 60 people came out to party last Saturday night... My fiance and I really enjoyed ourselves! He was happy they spot had TV's showing the NFL playoff game. There is a large screen projector near the VIP/DJ and a TV near the bar. There is a location to the right that features plush seating and it's elevated. On this night, a free buffet was featured. OK OK... I was excited to try the food. I could already smell the aromas as they were bringing it out... always a good sign when you can smell the food before you even see or taste it! I really enjoyed the fish and cabbage. I am looking forward to return to try other menu items. I believe in trying the food fresh and not based on a buffet style. Check them out if you will. The lounge vibe is geared toward the hip-hop, RnB, soul crowd, but the food is geared to all lovers of Jamaican cuisine. The restaurant is tucked away off of Indian River Road in a shopping center. Chic-fil-A is nearby - used that as your landmark. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Bear with me here; maybe this goes out into the abyss but I'm still gonna say it…read more Years & years ago I was wandering around the area & came upon Island Krave. It was brand new & the woman tending the store was friendly, energetic & passionate about the food she was serving. I ordered jerk chicken but she insisted on letting me have a taste of everything on the menu. Everything was delicious & I now had a new obsession- the sweet coco bread. For years after that whenever I was around I would pop in. I've since moved to GA and been living here for almost ten years. Any transplant will tell you sometimes only family & food keep you tethered to your home state. So happens this wknd I was in town for my sisters wedding & got my hair done a couple blocks away from Island Krave. As she finished up I placed an order on Uber eats, really excited for this meal- something familiar & missed. To see how the quality & care has declined truly hurts my heart. The portion of meat they served me was actually disrespectful to people who work hard for their money & choose to support a small business. These pictures are after they added some. If you're going to chop it to smitherens you need to measure it out to ensure the portions make sense. Anyone that cooks can tell you this is a thigh at best. & this is a $17 plate. I don't want to talk down on the place too much it's just sad how much of a let down the entire meal was after I felt like they threw my stuff together thinking it was being delivered and they wouldn't have to look me in the face. The Mac was good & the flavor of the chicken was as well. Cabbage mushy & salty. Rice is not yellow. & apparently $5 gets you one slice of coco bread now (I got two bc of my troubles, ha!) Idk I hope they can figure it out but personally I would never spend another dollar in this place.

When you can take simple beans & rice and create something so delectable, you know this is top notch. The steak was well cooked, the chorizo was Smokey and delicious and the beef & chicken was packed with flavor. While the kitchen was quite slow tonight, all of the servers were so kind and attentive. And the food was well worth the wait. While it was a quiet Monday tonight, it was clear that some nights are probably a party! Lots of room, looks like opportunity for live music which looks fun! The regular beef empanada was good. I do wish we had known to ask for sauce. I've noticed much much later really way too late. The other tables had sauces and ours did not so I am sure the empanada would've been even better with some sort of sauce. The sampler was OK. It was basically the same thing sort of repeated three different times and three different breads, but the breadsall tastes the same they were just different shapes. I wasn't a big fan of the chicken that was shredded inside, but my son loved the cheese sticks. The best were the tacos. Hands down I would skip the other items and go straight to the tacos. They were absolutely delicious. And there was definitely enough rice and beans with the one to go around. Service was OK. They forgot about us for a long time and they never offered the sauces until the very end when I saw the other tables had it and I asked for some but at that point I only had one taco left and we had eaten everything else. They weren't busy either because we are early birds when it comes to eating. It is definitely authentic and I would try it again, but maybe just be more cognizant of what's available.
