I posted a review of this Arizona Preferred Surgeons & Dr. McClary, 2+ years ago. And still today,…read moreI have nothing but the utmost respect for ALL the surgeons within this practice. As well as the staff. They all mean the world to me. They saved my life (more than once) in so many ways. Not just with my health, but the emotional overcoming of what I experienced. They have ALL (from front desk to MA's, to PA's, NP's, Surgeon's, Office Manager, etc.) touched my life and my family's life. I am a 36 year old wife with four beautiful children. My two oldest (daughter & son) are old enough to remember the "me" I was before all the surgeries and hospital stays. Which I spent more time in the hospital than I did at home. The older two children can remember every moment of every scary experience. Even one's that I myself am unable to remember. But my two littles, (daughters), don't remember the days that mama was able to hold them and sing to them, and do any & EVERYTHING with them. They don't know their mom who wasn't sick. But they are all four just amazing human beings. My husband had to go from being the fun dad to being the "do it all" daddy. And he's been wonderful about it. I still need to have a few more procedures and haven't been doing well lately. And there is not another surgical office that I would trust with my life, than this office. I'm a high-risk patient, and Dr. McClary is my most trusted surgeon and human being in general for my complications. But I have had the pleasure of seeing all the physicians within this practice. And I would recommend ANY & ALL of them! My anatomy is just a bit different than others lol! And Dr. McClary has been there from the start of me becoming a higher risk patient. Thank you to all who have read this, if you made it this far ! And thank you to Dr. McClary, along with THE entire staff! Everyone! Thank you, thank you!

AVOID. Lost referrals. Deny they accept insurance. They call me RE: referral - oh do not accept…read morethat insurance. Oh we operate multiple businesses here. Other biz accepts that insurance. Appointment goes OK - DOCTOR IS GREAT. Incomplete orders to medical facility. No pain meds @ Rx - another follow-up. Another call to schedule follow-up appointment - forgot to schedule. Unsure if this is "in play" here, but more and more medical practices are nothing more than shells macerating for some conglomerate. Doctors are employees without any ownership or oversight for the staff. Staff turnover is horrific with least cost apparent. There is a valley urology multi-location practice than worse than this. But my opinion a race to the bottom.

I've had several Ortho surgeries and a hernia repair. The last hernia repair (open), gave me an…read moreaggressive Staph infection that resulted in an ER visit, hospitalization, and at home care until the open wound healed from the bottom up. Not fun. So I opted for an arthroscopic, and robotic procedure this time. Dr. Agapay is absolutely expert at this procedure. My experience (and I've had plenty) has been that surgeons can be great technicians but not the best at bedside manner. Kinda brusk Pre-op and Post-op. Dr. Agapay is the total package. First, he listens to you. Pre-Op he explains the procedure very clearly ad thoroughly answering any questions you may have. He has a great sense of humor and confidence which helped me relax. Post op he is available for questions/concerns and I know because I called day 4 of post op. I wasn't sure if the pain I was experiencing in my leg was a normal condition and was hesitant to call so soon after surgery. I didn't want to be that patient that overreacts. Dr. Agapay got back to me quickly and explained what I was experiencing, that it was rare but normal and that ice and time would heal. Sure enough, he was right and he did not make me feel like a bother at all. Dr. Agapay followed up again 10 days after surgery. Now here I am less that 3 weeks after surgery and my recovery has been remarkable. He is a terrific doctor and who is expert at an innovative procedure. By the way, his office staff is great also! They are friendly and efficient!

I underwent hernia repair surgery that went wrong. The surgeon caused a dime sized hole (his op…read morereport words) in my colon. While Dr Agapay was not the primary surgeon he was present and assisted. Another complication occurred while hospitalized and a fistula developed. I spent a month in the hospital. About 2 months after I was discharged Dr. Agapay was covering for my primary surgeon while he was away. I called his office on a Tuesday to report pain, redness, and hardness in the surgical area. I received a return call on Thursday. I reiterated my symptoms to Dr. Agapay who also stated he was familiar with my case as he had assisted and also reviewed my file. Dr Agapay did not ask me to come into the office. Instead he told me to get a Covid test and asked if I had any free ones at home. I said I did and he said to just use one of those. He suggested I had Covid because I told him I was having discomfort sometimes when trying to take a deep breath. I was not experiencing shortness of breath. It was discomfort from my diaphragm being affected by fluid buildup. The pain, hardness, redness continued with slight fevers over what was a holiday weekend. Yes folks, a surgeon who actually knew what had happened to me and was aware of my symptoms told me to take a Covid test, NOT come see him so he could actually help before a 3 day weekend. I tried calling the office over the weekend to find out if this was worth the ER or what should I do. The on call number was a cell phone? I left a message and texted it. My plan was to be at the Dr office first thing Tuesday morning. It wasn't necessary. At 3:30am on the holiday I woke up covered in blood and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The blood and fluid was coming from my belly button which was the only way out it could find since laparoscopic surgery had created a weakness or opening there. Turns out I had cellulitis which became septic. Another 4-5 days in hospital. Am I upset at the surgeon who caused the initial injury? Sure. But he saw me through it. I consider myself VERY lucky to have survived and I have no debilitating intestinal issues except a larger hernia then I started with. It's Dr Agapay I feel who failed a duty of care and that's what has angered me the most. He was in the OR for the injury. He said he reviewed my chart when I called his office. A patient calls your office with symptoms of cellulitis 4 days before a 3 day weekend and you didn't think it a good idea for me to come in so you could see and perhaps start me on antibiotics BEFORE I was scared beyond belief with blood and other fluid practically exploding from my belly button. Do you know what it's like to wake up like that and have no idea what is happening? It has taken me several months to get to the point of being able to post this. The entire experience of the medical trauma has caused PTSD. The measure of service be it customer service or patient care is accountability and how the issue is handled. You did a lousy job handling this Dr. Agapay. I had a patient myself in my office (I am a part of the interdisciplinary team however not medical) mention how you would be performing that patient's surgery. I cringed and had to excuse myself from the room. So no, I would not recommend you as a surgeon.
