Amazing place to go for an aviation medical. I was able to schedule next day and Dr. Dykema is a seasoned pilot herself. They don't price gauge like the other guys in town, and and they don't try to squeeze every penny out of what the airlines would shell out for their pilots' medicals too, if you do have to pay for it on your own. 10/10 read more

Dr Dykema is phenomenal! Recently I had started to give up on finding a Doctor Who is going to give me real advice pertaining to my entire body. The waiting room was comfortable and quiet and very clean. While waiting there are endless plants based magazine and references to entertain you! Please do keep in mind moms your kids are not allowed in the waiting room it is Office's policy. And it is wonderful for people who don't have children. If you have a child who is not being seen leave them home with a sitter or the other parent. My favorite characteristic is that she didn't automatically push pills she asked about my diet and my exercise and supplements that I'm taking. Location was easy to find, staff and doctor were polite, facility was clean and quiet. Signs on their website and in the office gave fair warning they do not approve of children in the facility unless they are scheduled to see the doctor which I believed helped make a calm environment. The only thing that bothers me was when it was time to collect my copay-they added a "credit card fee" which was weird. If they preferred cash or check-it should have been posted on their website/in the office like everything else. I went in to get my medical today and had my 6 month in tow. I waited patiently for about 20 minutes before the receptionist asked for my drivers license and payment. She then informed me that children were not allowed in office unless they have an apppointment, but that they would make an exception THIS time. So a family physician won't allow a mother to bring her child? I drove 30+ miles for the appointment. So I got my refund and left without my medical and now on the search for a doctor who is understanding that not everyone has family or care in a city they live in. I haven't been to Dr. Dykema's office since 2015 but I think about my experience there all the time so I figured it was finally time to write a review. I went into the office to get help because I was having suicidal thoughts. It was extremely difficult for me to say the words out loud and I spent the time leading up to the appointment contemplating cancelling because I was afraid of what I would need to do next. I might as well have told her I had a headache. There was absolutely no concern from her about what I had said. She didn't ask if I had a plan, she didn't ask if I was safe, she didn't ask if I had a support system at home, she didn't ask if I was ok to drive. She didn't say anything other than give me a bottle of magnesium and send me on my way. I don't think she even looked at my face. I didn't need her to make a huge deal or a big scene about it but some recognition of the severity of my issue and the courage it took for me to get those words out of my mouth to another person, when I hadn't been able to tell anyone before would have changed everything. Even if her response was just to recommend I see someone. Years later I ended up being hospitalized and I can't help but wonder how different my life would have been if she had just listened. If you are looking for help with your mental health, this is not the doctor's office for you. read more

My son went in with a medical release while he is out of state in Arizona for a mass in his neck. I have left five messages for the doctor to please call me. No one calls back and no one answers the phone. This is truly the worst medical practice I have ever had to deal with. I'm very worried about my son and he is in pain and no one calls back. Stay away from this if you expect to have a relationship with your doctor. Especially a doctor that cares. I will be calling my insurance and the medical board because I basically paid for some thing that is useless. read more

Fine for general physical. I had heard that she wouldn't try to push meds on patients and was much more for a natural approach which I was a fan of. I don't even like taking Tylenol. Went in for another visit when I was really sick with excruciating sinus pain and a host of other symptoms to which she chalked up to "a very bad flu and allergy season" so stuck me on a round of antibiotics. I was in pain and needed to get back to work so I took the antibiotics which I am not a fan of taking. They didn't touch any of my symptoms so went back with an update of them not working. Again I was told it's just an extremely bad allergy season to which I told her a few times that I do not have allergies. She put me on a new antibiotic and some allergy pill. Again not happy about taking meds but was going on my 2nd week out of work and was desperate. I believe it was some sort of z-pack which I've never had before. Again, it did nothing. She tried a 3rd antibiotic and told to continue with the allergy pill.... I decided to go to an allergist and get tested since apparently my body had changed and was now allergic to things it never had been before. My tests came back and the allergist told me to stop taking the meds because I wasn't allergic to anything. I then became super pissed. She never ran any tests and instead was convinced I just had bad allergies that were causing a bad sinus infection. She did a absolutely nothing to help me, didn't listen to what I was telling her, the 3 rounds of antibiotics wrecked my system and caused side effects for a few months afterwards. I saught help elsewhere after the allergist confirmed my suspicion. And to top it off, when I went back to work, my boss told me I qualified for short term disability which would mean my sick days wouldn't count against me as PTO days which was awesome! However, all I needed to submit to my work, was a simple form that the Dr needed to complete. I call the doctor's office and they tell me they have a policy to never complete those forms no matter what. So, in summary, I wasn't helped at all. I was put on 3 rounds of meds that only hurt my body and caused terrible side effects, the doctor didn't listen to anything I told her, didn't run any tests, just medicated for what she assumed was the problem, and refused to complete forms that would have saved 2 weeks of PTO days. I asked for a copy of the doctor notes from each of my visits to provide to a new doctor and when I received them, they were laughable. The notes definitely confirmed she wasn't listening at all to what I had told her. Barely wrote down anything. Not happy about the outcome of this experience but have definitely learned to trust myself and what I know about my own body. read more

Worst Doctors visit I've ever experienced. Absolutely not interested in health history, health issues, just get to the point "why are you here"? Even though I was in tears explaining she was stone faced and unsympathetic, gave me a prescription, ordered blood test and out in 12 minutes for $140. I asked about more time for follow-up appt. to review testing and to cover my other health issues and was told to make a list of 3-4 symptoms they could address and others would probably disappear. Really? How do I know which one causes the other. Terrible way to practice medicine. Oh and if I wanted an additional 5 minutes at my next 10 minute appointment they would charge me an additional $10 to the $80 visit. Doesn't matter if it's new patient or follow up, you only get 10 minutes. Ridiculous!!! Didn't go back. read more

So I actually have to update this review on Dr Dykema. I was so excited to find a Dr that seemed to truly care, only to find out the exact opposite. I feel that she has gotten too busy and your just a number, with no follow through or sincere care. Also expect to wait AT LEAST 30 min past your appointment time as well. She is not a Dr for you if you have thyroid, PCOS, or any other type of hormonal or immune issue. She has proven numerous times that she is not proficient what so ever in any of this. After giving her a year to help me I only got worse. Like borderline diabetic worse. If your a healthy person and just need a quick physical or just looking to do an extreme detox sure she's great. Worse doctor ever visited she is behind the money.Me and my husband visited her for a routine check up and the first visit was covered 100% by our insurance and then after a few tests she had asked for a follow up, however in the follow up meeting she had charged us the co pay and tax but she didn't even check the reports properly prescribed some over the counter medicines to my husband and for my reports she didn't discuss any thing at all. she was trying to send us back without discussing any single report. she made sure we just pay her for the second time without any proper treatment or prescription. she didn't bother to go thru the lap reports before we reached and once we were at her office she was asking about the test results to me. read more

I was a patient of Dr Dykema for 5 months. I was excited to find a doctor that was a vegan & a DO. My experience was not entirely bad, but not good enough to stay. She helped me in the area of specialty supplements to add to my current repertoire. I like the idea that she takes a more natural approach and is not eager to dole out prescription meds. Her website is chalk full of healthy information that everyone can benefit from. I agree with her vegan (whole food plant based) philosophy and I very much wanted her to be my PCP. Her hormone therapy balancing service fees are on the high side. My consultations were typically about 10 min short. When she was done she would just walk out, whether I had additional questions or not. I'd be left sitting there wondering what was going on. Did she leave the room to get something? Is she coming back? I understand doctors have a tight schedule, but I felt her exit style was unsettling and demoralizing. And apparently I called with too many questions to her voice mail. I was relayed a message back from the doctor through the sweet, young gal that returns Dr Dykema's calls to save all my questions for the next appointment. Really?! I would not have left as many messages if all my questions were answered the first time. Me leaving a message with two questions but getting an answer back to just one of those two questions unfortunately required me to call back again. Frustrating! Not good when you are needing clarification on brand new supplements and meds to be taken daily. I'm not comfortable taking supplements and meds I have dosing questions about. Dr Dykema didn't seem to have a problem with it though. Her office didn't respond to a request to have my medical records sent in a timely manner before my urologist appointment for a female health issue I was having, which, by the way, Dr Dykema misdiagnosed prior to that. That request was made 5 days prior my appointment. I won't even go into my husband's experience. Long story short, he refused to go back after 1 visit. I was not pleased with their surcharge for using a credit card or a debit card. I have never been to a doctor's office that does that. I was a small business owner and I understand that credit card fees add up. However, I also accepted it as the cost of doing business. IMO it's an unprofessional and "mom and pop" way of doing business. At times I found Dr Dykema & her receptionist, Tiffany, to be unaccommodating. I also found Tiffany to be intimidating and unfriendly. She made it clear that I was not to ask for an additional copy of my lab order over the phone. You must come into the office for that. Customer/Patient service is not their forte. They have every right to run a tight ship, which they do. And I have every right to find a doctor that is more friendly and accommodating, which I have. My new doctor, also a vegan (yay!) spends an hour with me every time I see him. I don't need that much time, but it sure is a pleasant and welcoming change. It is as if I'm his only patient. I love walking out with the feeling that my doctor really cares. In summary, I did not find Dr Dykema and staff were a good match for me or my husband. read more

First, if you plan on seeing her, listen to the required message before going to her office. You won't be so disappointed then to learn you can't bring coffee or children with you. If you fail to listen to the message, you're most likely going to be upset when you arrive. Second, she's amazing! I've been through a handful of doctor's over the years and she is by far one of the best. I didn't walk in expecting us to be best friends nor have time to listen to all my problems (that's what therapists are for). I usually have a list of questions for her to cut down on time spent. I started seeing her for yearly checkup's and my failing thyroid. When she saw my numbers, she recommended medication, per the norm. I told her I absolutely refused unless we tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked. She agreed and over the next year, we worked through diet change, supplements, meditation, trauma therapy (with someone else) and a couple other things. I'm pleased to report, my thyroid is back in normal range, and I never went on meds. Dr. Dykema has always remained professional, given great advice and has given honest feedback regarding any natural treatment I have brought up. If you want a doctor who will work with you, I highly recommend her. Like anyone, if you easily back down and don't fight for your health, with the utmost respect, that's on you. I understand no one is perfect all the time but don't be shy from asking more questions, questioning choices and asking for alternatives. She will give them to you if you ask and there's options. Exceptional doctor who provides exceptional care. I've been going to Dr. Dykema for over 10 years for everything from hormone therapy, PAP exams, general examinations and a variety of other medical treatments. She tries to find the root of the problem in comparison to simply prescribing drugs like most other family care physicians. She is actually healthy herself which I think is very telling. Not at all impressed by this DO. She sent me for tons of blood work that came back all over the place- hormones and blood proteins and thyroid all out of whack. Told me to become a vegan immediately, that she COULD NOT help me medically until I stopped eating animal products. I came in especially to a DO for help and looking for someone to pay attention to what is happening to me, she blew me off just like every other Doctor I've been to. I had a really bad experience with this physician. She placed me on a thyroid medicine, and rather than adjust it based off of lab work to see how my levels were adjusting, she went based on her own instinct, and placed me on a dose that was much higher than I needed. Thyroid issues were not something I was familiar with at the time, so I did not know that this was dangerous. I became terribly sick from having too much thyroid hormone and missed weeks of work, had to see many specialists, and just felt terrible for months afterward. To me, the way she practiced care in my case was extremely dangerous and could have really hurt me long term, had I not gone for second opinions and follows ups with other doctors based off the extreme symptoms I was having. We started going to this Dr. About 8 years ago for myself and my daughter. My daughter had sever asthma, allergies and migraines for years. She was then currently taking 9 medications on our first visit... Dr. Dykema did a complete examine and asked lots of questions about her health history. She wanted my daughter to record everything she was putting into her mouth for the next week and record how she was feeling. She also had her try a gluten free diet. My daughter who was 14 at the time was not a big fan of the doctor at first, but what 14 year old wants to be told they have to change their eating habits etc. over the course of the next 4-5 years she went from 9 medications a day slowly down to two a day now. I also go to her and feel she is a dr. that believes in wellness and health obtained from other ways than just prescribing another prescription drug. I have thyroid problems and an iron disorder know as hereditary hemochromatosis. She does regular blood work on me to stay on top of it and recently has started me on an Iodine supplement that is also improving my health. At my last dr. visit she said my blood work shows I'm getting younger instead of older and I will turn 50 this year. She recommended two books for me to read and I would recommend those to you as well, they will open up your eyes to many health issues caused by things we are eating and things our body is lacking.
