So I backed up with Time Machine on a new external hard drive - and lo and behold I haven't been able to use this to set up the MacBook again! Not enough room on the MacBook! There was no indication that there might be any risk, even though I told them of seeming to have more data in the backup than in the original hard drive. I took it back to the store - they were not helpful - all they could suggest was starting again, abandoning all my applications, my Mail folders, my settings...This is not good enough. They took no responsibility for the very poor advice given. DO NOT TAKE THEIR ADVICE WHEN THERE IS ANY POSSIBLE RISK TO YOUR DATA.

I first discovered this little London Rd internet cafe when I moved into my house in the last year…read moreof uni, and the internet connection was not yet set up. For about two weeks before term started, I popped into Sky Computers every day or two and spent an hour or so getting all my essential internet admin done...banking, booking train tickets...facebook, y'know, the important stuff! :) At first it felt a bit weird using an internet cafe in my own town, but I got sick of dodgy wireless connections in pubs and I didn't want to carry my laptop around, so Sky was perfect! The rates are reasonable and the guy that runs the place is friendly. They also have printing, photocopying and faxing facilities. I didn't use the 'cafe' and to be honest I think that was probably for the best.

I trawled message boards, emailed and called Apple for support, but the problem was physical and therefore needed to be seen by an expert. I was fortunate enough to have the Apple Care Protection Plan, which meant my computer was covered for free repair. The Authorised Apple Service Provider was Robert Harding Computers in Hove. At the time I found it both difficult to locate the repair shop (just at the bottom of Sackville Road: it's not that hard really) and to part with my beloved Mac. I reluctantly left my baby in the hands of Mr Harding himself, a charming chat, whose initial diagnosis made me feel confident he knew what he was talking about. And it seems he had the skill to back up his words because Janet (yeah that's the name of my Mac!) is still working two years on. Mr Harding was polite, professional and kept me updated with the progress of the repair. It's just a shame you only get to meet people like this when there is a problem!

The selection of the store was so limited, it felt more like a PC World store, the stores were of course combined in 2015 - The selection is mainly of basic, cheaper laptops compared to more advanced gaming ones, there wasn't even a selection of large TVs and other household appliances one would expect to see in a store of its' kind. The staff and customers seemed to each do their own thing, I like that in a way but they just didn't seem approachable or willing to acknowledge the customer with even a smile or "hello" - disappointing. A really small store with a small variety of items, and the item they do stock being a small product range of that particular item, unwelcoming staff all add to the picture as I wonder "Is this a real Currys PC World?, only to look outside and the sign confirms it. 1*

They picked it up, took it home to Worthing with them, digged around inside and declared it needed more RAM and the system re-installing. They brought back it a few days later and it now runs like clockwork. The icing on the cake, is the fact they talked me through all the options without baffling me with technical descriptions. Oh and they also did all this for a bargain price. Like I said, God bless The Mac Man! As well as repairs and installation, they offer Mac training and support across Sussex and Dorset and lots of tips and problem solving solutions.
