Don't waste your time and money with bigger or smaller companies. We spent $46 on tile, driving to the nearest Home Depot (1-1/2 hrs. away), buying some awkward, heavy samples, difficult for an elderly couple to schlepp home. Carbonneau gave us free reign of their samples (even some book fulls); I went twice and spent a long time in their showroom, at which beautiful, varied tiles are conveniently displayed and prepared with informative cardboard backing to take home; Carbonneau charged us nothing. They sent out both owners and managers to our home (40 minutes away from their store). No one tried to steer us toward any price point, which is incredible. They sent out 2/3 people for installation, let me change my mind after purchase re the color (with minimal re-stock fee), & educated me when my ignorance of part of the process made me call them with my hair on fire. We tiled a dining and living room, the process of which, with too small or too large a company, could have taken more time than with Carbonnea workers' consistent, daily plodding. They didn't start the project, then work in fits and starts and their prep was excellent. Good tiling isn't quick or easy; you won't save money or time if you don't involve experts with earthquake prepping savy. I love decorating, but this project's success was too crucial for me to rely on my decorating books and magazine cutouts. Everyone at Carbonneau wanted us to be satisfied. I am absolutely in awe of how wonderful this place is. I can't imagine any other tile store in all of Humboldt, if not California, would have Carbonneau's tile selection. The pricing is even more remarkable. When I picked tiles for my entryway floor and wood stove pedestal, tiles I'd not seen anywhere else in Humboldt, Carbonneau shocked me with their pricing, in a good way. I am not naive, this was far from my first rodeo. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and informative. Even Mooch, the friendly bulldog, was a pleasant companion while shopping the immense selection of tiles. I took away the wood stove pedestal tiles with me right then and there. My husband and I had a large task ahead of us with completing Our Airbnb space in a cost effective manner and yet wanting a high-end professional result. We needed a kitchen counter, backsplash, and approximately 400 ft.² of patio. Pierre at Carbonneau tile was recommended to us by our local contractor. They do extraordinarily professional work at a reasonable price and I highly recommend them. We had a large selection of tiles to pick from. Their design team recommended the hand painted ceramic tile that looks very much like slate for our kitchen countertop and we couldn't be more happy with it. They did an absolutely superb job installing it in our kitchen with undermount sink. I had selected a old world look for the kitchen backsplash; large tiles with small accent tiles. This was a challenge to wrap around the corner and continue with an asymmetrical repeat pattern. They worked quickly and did an amazing job with finding a way of showcasing these little accent tiles with a fairly large repeat pattern. All of their craftsman know their craft and will not cut back on quality. That last project was laying out ceramic tiles for two outdoor patios. These guys really know how to showcase in the entrance with the 12 inch squares and bullnose edging. They also had a very challenging grade issue and had to grind down concrete and still provide enough of a slope so that water would not run the wrong direction back toward the building. They are also very tidy and conscientious about covering up things that need protection while working. They did all the messy work outside which we really appreciated. I hope you take time to look at the pictures. Carbonneau is worth the wait if they are backed up. Just keep calling and asking for status and don't give up. It's worth it; they are the best. read more

We recently had a walk-in shower installed. For the tile, we went with Carbonneau Tile. We really can't say enough good things about working with Carbonneau. They kept in contact and kept us informed of how long it would take, when they would be at our house, and they showed up exactly when they said they would. Pierre Carbonneau came to personally inspect the work three times during the process. The crew worked smoothly together. The office staff was also a pleasure to deal with. There was a problem when the plumbing (not done by Carbonneau) was not roughed-in correctly (noticeably off-center) which we were not happy about, but Carbonneau's crew assured us they could work around the problems and still make it beautiful. We didn't want to make the tile crew go back and have to re-do the whole thing as that would have delayed the progress considerably by ordering replacement tile and increased the cost. I was also concerned about the cut-out (the indentation in the wall for soap holder) draining - the tile setter (we worked with Ken and Gray) assured us no water would pool in it when the work was done. The slant is almost imperceptible and no water pools in it. The tile on the floor (the drain is also off-center) is set so that water drains perfectly. The photos don't do their work justice. We would absolutely go with them again for any tile work and recommend them highly. read more

My heroes!!! I had a glass subway tile tub surround installed by a contractor who damaged the tile while cutting it and set it anyway, arguing that glass tile always chips when cut. Grey from Carbonneau Tile expertly repaired the shoddy job by isolating and cutting out the damaged tile without destroying any of the surrounding good tiles. He also cut every tile beautifully and chip free. He's skilled, efficient and professional. Most other local tile contractors wouldn't even touch this repair because glass is difficult to work with. Everyone at Carbonneau ( I worked with Pierre, Dana and Grey) is friendly, supportive and professional. I will only use Carbonneau tile from here on in. Even if you have to wait a bit for your job to get done it's WORTH IT! They're busy because they're GREAT at what they do! Wish I had used them from the start. read more
