A classic Punk / Rock n Roll Bar in Toronto CA. Basically the CBGB's of that scene…read more It's been around since the early 1990's and is exactly what a spot like this should be. Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Great, crowd, great location in cool area with lots of restaurants & plenty of parking - both on the street up to 2 hours & extended parking for a flat-rate of CA$20 (~$14 USD) from 6:00pm until the next morning, just 2 blacks away.

Are the beer cans running out? It's possible. But, it's a dive in the way of the old dives. And the acoustics for bands are... not great. But they are a sign of what once was. Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. Bring cash though, unless you're looking to make some big orders, because credit card is a minimum fifty-dollar spend.

One of my favorite experiences when I went to Toronto back in 2019 was trying real Canadian whiskey…read moreand Canadian gin at a local distillery! They had a wonderful array of options, and I did the tasting flight back then that consisted of two whiskeys and two gin's. I don't remember most of the visit because the spirits were very strong, but I do remember the elderberry gym being fantastic! I remember sitting at the bar and being taken care of and the bartender, being very thorough and polite with explaining each spirit and what hors d'oeuvres it would pair well with. I love the old factory/warehouse vibe of the distillery. The building looked very old from the outside with a more modern interior. It was definitely a highlight of the trip and something I would highly recommend for any avid whiskey drinker.

We came late on a weekday night and were seated immediately by the friendly staff; you might want to make an online reservation otherwise. Food was all fantastic and step above traditional British fare. $21CAD/$15USD Caesar Salad is elevated with zesty housemade dressing, fresh deep green romaine, and enlightened with capers and bacon bits. Waitress kindly split the salad into two plates for us! $30CAD/$21.5USD Fish and Chips...A gigantic thick fillet of of whitefish covered in a thick, golden, crunchy beer batter. The fish was moist, flaky, and lovely. The house made tarter sauce was rich and fragrant! Chips were thick, hot, and crisp. $38CAD/$27USD Crispy Lake Trout...the pink fish fillet was pink, tender and moist, with a nice crispy skin for texture and terrific taste. Definitely visit if you're seeking a royal taste of Britian!

My mum loved it too. The rare beef sandwich with malted mayo was a flavour bomb, and the scotch egg, sausage roll and fish & chips were fantastic. Pimms cup really hit the spot on a warm day. BRUSSELS SPROUTS - not super oily and had the perfect crisp and flavor to it! one of the best brussel sprouts i've had CHICKEN SANDWICH - basic but filling and tasty MARGHERITA (v) - very basic and was okay. wasn't bad but also wasn't the best TRUFFLE SPAGHETTI WITH MEATBALLS - filling and flavorful! Overall loved the food Service: The sweetest, helpful, and conversational service! Appreciated the help and welcome from staff. Ambiance: Night vibes are pretty nice. It's dark and dimlit inside. It's not super fancy but also not super casual. The setting and atmosphere is very nice for a night out.

We ended up sitting at the bar since we were walk-ins. It is also a very low light restaurant, especially at night. so it might not be the best place for older adults or those who are visually impaired. Service was good, however, we were somewhat forgotten at times since we were tucked away in a dark corner. We ended up ordering the Truffle Fries, the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, the Korean Chicken, and the Vodka Pie. The truffle fries were crisp and plentiful. We added sausage to the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, and it was delicious paired with the pizza. The Korean Chicken were bite sized and flavourful as well. However, The vodka Pie haunts me in my dreams. I think I crave this pizza about every week. The pizza at King Taps has one of the best crusts I've ever had, and the vodka sauce is to die for. It's sad to know that this pizza will rotate out, I'd definitely try it before it leaves! I will be back for the Vodka Pie, mark my words!
