Tried to go to this Advanced Dermatology location as a new patient with Dr.Capin. I specifically checked my confirmation email and the new patient section of the website for instructions and found none, so I showed up ON TIME for my 6:45am appointment. I was told new patients need to arrive 15 minutes early, which was never communicated to me, and that I couldn't be see at that time. They offered an appointment with the PA an hour later, but I need to get to work so I declined. I expressed that no one told me about the 15 minutes early rule, and was told they left me a VM. They did not. I SPOKE with the receptionist the day before because I answered his reminder call, and was only told the time and location. I told them I would reschedule, even though I planned on just finding another office to go to. THEN I received a VM that I was unable to see the doctor in the future because I was "late." (I WASN'T) and that I would need to see the PA for further appointments. How unprofessional. And no apology for wasting my time either. There are a million derms in Denver, go elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately, my experience here was unacceptable. I waited a few months to get an appt. with Dr. Capin, the main dermatologist, as she was booked solid. But the day of my visit, she never showed; I saw a nurse practitioner instead. On a subsequent visit I saw Dr. Devito. He did not take the time to diagnose my problem with care and patience, and hurriedly applied a superficial solution, which was very painful. When I complained about the sensation, he reacted completely unprofessionally; he was condescending, even unkind. This has been my dermatology office for quite some time. They can come off as a bit unprofessional, I will agree. Especially the front desk, at times they have a fairly off-putting lady in charge of scheduling, but I've never personally had problems with her, just witnessed a few. But, all of the Docs, in my opinion, are very knowledgeable about what they do. I highly recommend Lila Orr, she is hands down my favorite Dr. there and I just finished my third round of accutane this month. Dr. Capin is also great, and if you're going in for a follow up or something that doesn't take a lot of investigation/time, Dr. DeVito is a good guy. read more

The front office staff is supposed to be the face of the office, and in this case it's a very sad face indeed. Informed the staff that my insurance deductible for the year was met and that my child needed a procedure done They insisted that it needs to preauthorized, and instead of calling and checking as I requested they do, they proceeded to submit, telling me they knew what they were doing. After the insurance renewed, they called me back stating o was correct, and that now I will have to pay out of pocket since I once again have a deductable to meet, but it's ONLY $450.00 dollars. We saw a PA for a skin condition my daughter experiencing. That part was fine - it was taken care of. However, the office staff, specifically Pam, was horrible, unprofessional, and my family and I will NEVER go back. I was pretty much screamed at upon arriving in the office, in front of other patients, who appeared shocked. I was hassled for filling out the wrong paperwork online (although it turned out I was correct) and I was hassled for not showing up 1/2 hour early. (Really - if I can't fill out paperwork in less than 10 minutes, I have bigger problems than a skin condition.) The worst part is that I emailed their website 'contact us' address, and I left feedback on Facebook, asking to be contacted about this issue, to resolve it and so we feel comfortable returning to this practice. I've heard nothing from them. Super. Remember, when a person has a great experience, they tell three people. When they have a poor experience, they tell AT LEAST eleven people. Now with the internet, that number rises exponentially. Good luck with that. read more

So disappointed and frustrated!!! Got to this appointment 20 minutes early, since I was new, noticed that the office was also a "day spa". Should have been my first clue as to something was different. Second indication was that my income class was probably well below the other folks in the waiting room :-(. Got called back to the room, told the triage nurse that the mole on my face needed to be removed (also discussed with the nurse prior to arriving so they already were aware of what needed to be done). Nurse left without asking about my cancer concern since I recently had a 'bout with bladder cancer. 70 minutes later I got up and left. Nurse said to put this paper robe on and the doctor will be in. That was the last that I saw her. No one came to check on me, no one gave me an update as to why the doctor was late, nothing!! After dressing, I got out into the empty hall, found the front desk and said I'm leaving. They couldn't understand why?! Bottom line, if the doctor has an emergency, I get that they are running late, but an emergency at a spa???? So disappointed in Dr. DeVito and his staff!! No excuses!! I am so disappointed. I was referred to Cara Mia by a friend who raved about Lila Orr and went in for a consultation about possible injectables or other treatments for some laugh lines that are starting to bother me. I have some small wrinkles (parenthesis or laugh lines) forming around my mouth and they have really become a bother to me over the past year. I am 31 years old, and I have always had wonderful skin. I went in for my initial consultation with Lila last week. She looked at my face for about 30 seconds, took her examination glasses off and said, "I could do Voluma, because I can't correct the indentation that's bothering you." I was a little shocked when she informed me how much Voluma was, and that this was her first recommendation for me. I scheduled the appointment because knew no different, but I called my sister to tell her what was recommended to me and she flipped out. I scheduled a second consultation at another location (voted best in Denver for injectables), and the owner was completely appaulled that Lila Orr recommended I receive the Voluma injectable. She said that there is NO way she would have considered that for me, and honestly felt that I didn't need ANY injectable treatment at this time in my life. She said I should wait a year, and if it really still bothers me should would consider doing one syringe of Juvaderm (not Juvaderm XC) to simply plump that area up a little bit. I'm so glad I took the advice of my sister to get a second opinion because I would have been scammed and recieved a treatment that I didn't really need. Please always get a second opinion no matter what kind of treatment you are seeking. I will never recommend Cara Mia to anyone who is considering injectables. read more

I go to Cara Mia monthly since I'm on Accutane. My experiences have only been pleasant. Though I can see why some people are off-put by the front staff, they're efficient. I have never had to wait long for an appointment. Dr. DeVito is my dermatologist and I think he's amazing. He explains everything to me very clearly and is very 'no-frills' - I could see why some people who are more sensitive would be turned off by his personality, but I love it because I can tell he wants his patients to get the best care possible. Additionally, I had issues with getting my first prescription from a pharmacy and when I left a message after-hours, he called me back almost immediately! What doctor does that??? Overall, so happy that I made the decision to go here for my acne problem because my acne has started to clear and I can't wait to finish up Accutane. read more

Be aware. This office is unprofessional. I had good experiences in the past, but it has been a few years since I was here and things have changed. I had a suspicious area on my face so they took a biopsy. The nurse hit a vein when numbing and I got an instant headache. Hit vein second time and my jaw felt like I had been punched. Dr. came in and had me wait for a bit. Next morning my face was swollen and bruised. I had a precancerous condition so had to go back to freeze cells. That went fine except after healing I noticed I still had some patches left. Went back second time and Dr. said that sometimes happens as she's timid when freezing. Long story short, had to go back twice more. Each time I was there for less than 10 minutes. I expected not to be charged for these extra visits as I felt it was her issue being soooo conservative with treatment. Imagine my surprise to get bills for almost $100 for each extra visit. I paid for first two but when received yet another bill I wrote a note asking them to explain why I should have keep paying. I received no reply, just another bill. Being that I STILL had a suspicious section I found a new dermatologist who took me promptly, got the rest of the cells and that bill was much less than what I had been charged by previous office. read more

My family and I have received excellent care here. We have had alot of sun exposure over the years and are now paying for it. I am thankful for the thorough exams we have received, and never miss my recommended appointments. There has been some staff turnover over the years, but that is to be expected in a busy medical office. I have never been treated rudely, and have been seen early on several occasions. DO NOT GO HERE! Extremely unprofessional. I went in for a cancer screening originally and ended up having to schedule a removal of a basal cell carcinoma mole. This was pre-scheduled several weeks out to have it done with Dr. Devito whom I had never met before. When the day of the appointment came, I was greeted by the reception staff in a rude and unprofessional manner. They were having a personal conversation and I was a total nuisance to them for even bothering them to check in. Then it came as a complete shock that they told me they needed $500 to preform the procedure upfront! What?!!!! No one ever told me this when I was scheduling the appointment or when I called to confirm it. I asked them if they could bill me, they said "no payment, no service!" I had no choice but to charge it right then and there because I had to have this removal done before it got any worse. Needless to say, I was extremely upset and felt completely taken advantage of. Not to mention I scheduled a sitter for my child that day so that I could get this done. After I charged it, they took me back to Dr. Devito. What a complete jerk! He was arrogant and crass. He did not make me feel good at all. It is obvious that all they care about is your money. DO NOT let them take advantage of you. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I don't know how they are still in business. Customer service is HORRIBLE and unprofessional!!! You will be feeling emotionally and financially drained by going to this office. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU only YOUR WALLET!!! Extremely disappointed with spa manager. While trying to make an appointment over the phone as a repeat customer trying to use a birthday discount special, I was told they could not get me in until 2 days into the following month. When asked if they'd extend my birthday discount the answer was a resounding no! Asking to speak to someone else, I was told I was speaking with the person in charge and that they just extended the birthday thing as a courtesy. She obviously did not want to extend me that courtesy, as I asked several times. Instead she asked me if I wanted to keep the appointment date she had. I declined. I have leukemia of the worst kind, and have been an athlete at a national/international level. I have excellent insurance and was referred to Lesly Capin by my cancer doctor. I contacted Lesly's office and they refused to schedule me without faxing them a copy of my insurance card. I don't have a fax machine and assured them my insurance will be accepted. She insisted they will not schedule me without a copy of my card. She suggested I contact my doctor to have them fax my insurance card; this is ridiculous. I began to plead and she hung up the phone on me lol. I am shocked and upset by this unprofessional behavior. It has always been my educated opinion that labor is a reflection of management. Completely disappointed with my visit here. The visit itself was fine but two months later I received a bill from them for $500. I had spent less than 10 minutes with an actual person. My bill said that insurance was not eligible for this procedure, which by the way was a skin cancer screening. I called to try and get an explanation but was put directly to voicemail and unable to reach an actual person. I left a voicemail but never heard back from anyone. If you want to blow a ton of cash for 10 minutes of a screening this is the place for you. I have been a patient here for many years, but have not been in a while. I was trying to book an appointment and was told I could not without giving them a credit card. I was not in a position to get my card out and read it to them, and I was really upset that I couldn't book a simple appointment when I have been there many times before. Been going there for about 5 years to Dr Devito. When I first started the staff was good and nurses were nice. However in the past year the staff has has gone downhill. The reception is very unfriendly and almost rude. Devito nurses are the same and always ask me why I came in yet I am there every few months for last 5 years. Also, no matter the day or time I have to wait Atleast 30 minutes past my appt time for the doc to see me. Dr Devito helped me at first but in the last 6 mo my conditioned worsened, we tried other meds, they didn't work. You would think as a professional he would try to look into further. Saw Devito for skin cancer body screen. Compared to the same service received at other dermatology offices, this was terrible. Unlike other places that give you an actual cloth gown or at least a one-piece paper gown, the staff here gave me a skimpy piece of paper to cover my top, and a small paper square for the bottom. Devito was flippant and arrogant, and answered questions and concerns with dismissal. One scar that is the result of cellular changes from an old tick bite was incorrectly dismissed by him as dermatographism, which is 100% incorrect. He sold this as an official diagnosis, which is absolutely wrong. Then he tried to sell me some cosmetic skin products for wrinkles. By the end of the appointment, I was sitting there having conversations with he and his staff, covered with ripped shreds of paper falling off my body. Very unprofessional. I got the feeling that their main concern here is the selling of expensive prescription cosmetics. read more

I drove to the address and when I walked into the building I thought I had the wrong place, because it was a "Spa", I was going in for a mole check and removal of skin tags. So I went out to the car, rechecked the address and realized I was I was in the right place. You have to fill out about 5 pages of forms - this should have been my second clue to run for the door. I don't want this review to be too long, so I will just cut to the chase - they wouldn't even bill my insurance!! They basically forced me - at first I refused - to sign a form that said my insurance wouldn't be billed. This is a SPA people...do NOT go her for any dermatology work. Go to a REAL DOCTORS OFFICE. I don't know why they are allowed to have the word, "dermatology' in their name. So mad at myself for going here. Cost me $$$$$ to have moles looked at, skin tags removed, and seborrhea keratoses removed, which I never had to pay for back in the state of Michigan in a REAL DERMATOLOGY OFFICE. read more

It is unusual for me to write a review such as this but I would be remiss to allow this incompetence to go...I am here referring to the Aurora office...I visited here to have a red area on my nose diagnosed. It was lentiga maligna and had to be removed...The doctor who did the diagnosis called me with the information..Before hanging up she remarked "you will have a large scar." I am not sure why she would make such a remark..She is not a surgeon and the remark was completely inappropriate..[As it turned out, I went elsewhere for surgery and it appears I will NOT have a large scar.] She referred me to the surgeon in the office..The meeting with the surgeon was a nightmare..She could not be any more uncaring or indifferent. ..She was estremely unfriendly..She spent very little time explaining the procedure and way annoyed by any questions..The only real way to describe her is a condescending bitch..I went to another surgeon and the procedure is complete...It appears I will have a good result..I have visited this businesses south location many times and was very pleased...I am not one who is difficult to please but DO NOT USE THE AURORA LOCATION... read more
