Car Toys at 10545 Melody Dr in Northglenn, now operating as Foss Audio/Car Toys, left me with mixed feelings. The building still says Car Toys, the employees are still in Car Toys uniforms, but Foss Audio has taken over. Unfortunately, they refused to honor a $100 Car Toys gift card I purchased simply because it was bought more than 180 days ago. They told me that is the cutoff they are willing to honor for old Car Toys gift cards. That was disappointing, especially when I was ready to spend around $1600 on my current install and was planning to put another $1500 into a second vehicle here as well. To me, losing a loyal customer over a $100 gift card--especially one purchased from the same location with the same branding still on the building--just doesn't make sense. The manager I spoke with didn't seem too concerned about keeping future business, so I'll take that second vehicle elsewhere. Shops like Top Edge, Xtreme Unlimited, Traffik Jams, or Colorado Car Audio will be getting a look from me instead. The only reason I came back here was because I had good experiences in the past. With all of that said, I won't rate them lower because Treavor absolutely earned his recognition. He was outstanding from start to finish. Great communication, zero aggressive upselling, understood exactly what I wanted, and delivered a clean, professional install on the stereo and SiriusXM system. I do not know who did the tint, but they did an outstanding professional job as well. Treavors customer service is top tier and the work was spot-on. Treavor deserves a five star rating on his own, and Foss Audio/Car Toys is lucky to have someone of his caliber. Overall, this would have been a five star experience if management had honored the gift card and valued long-term business. I had my car serviced at a Subaru dealership. When I put my car in reverse, my rear camera wasn't working. So I checked my tire pressure on the screen and it was only showing front pressure-not rear. Took it back to Subaru and they said the camera was working...sure, if you pushed the cam button on the Kenwood unit itself. Called Car Toys and they told me to bring it over. They told me they could probably fix it in the parking lot-but if they couldn't we could schedule an appointment. Was met at the counter by Joe. We hired Car Toys to put a stereo in my 16 yo son's vehicle so he could have hands free. There was something crazy going on with the stereo that made apple car play sound overly amplified. So at one time there used to be a few choices of places to have automotive audio installed but now there only maybe 3-4 that I know of. I actually had walked in recently to return the deck that my Wife had gotten me for Christmas, because of the lack of customer service that both I and my Wife had experienced at this location, but the Manager (David) stepped in and wanted to know why I was returning the stereo. After about 20-30 minutes explaining how dissatisfied I was in the whole customer service experience and the sparring back and forth with his excuses for the lack of , I came back with the simple reasons of common courtesy and acknowledgement upon entering any establishment or business. He asked me to give him the opportunity to show me how he is working with his "new" employees and trying to get them up to speed on how to greet and treat potential customers. Cutting to the end of the experience instead of returning the deck I winded up dropping another $200 on speakers and had an install date!! Fwd to 2 weeks later, today. Picked up my truck clean install, speakers sound good. No trash in my truck and a quick tutorial on how to use the new component but, there's so much to learn i pretty much forgot how to use it before I got out of the parking lot, !! Lol. After my chat with the Mgr I have definitely noticed a difference in the attention that ppl are getting when walking in. Just a small, "Hello we'll be with you shortly" goes a long way in my book. Place can be pricey if you want it to or it can be reasonable if you let them know what your trying to spend. All in I probably spent with the deck , speakers, install, and install materials just under $600. But I'm happy with it and have wanted it for awhile so all is good. As an example I went in for the memorial day sale on a stereo that came with free installation and backup camera, I was told that was a mistake in the advertising and it's either or free installation or free backup camera, I called another store and they would honor that because that is the true sale. We spent $5700 for new radio and speakers for a van (the proposal they gave us was for $22k for a10 year old van!). Radio amp blew out after about 5 months. They said they had to order a replacement from the manufacturer. It has now been over 3 months on order. We are without any music in vehicle and they have our $5700. Total rip off. I would recommend everyone to look else where. I wanted a quote for new headlights in my jeep, and I saw they could do this. The quote came in at $250 for lights and then over $700 for parts and labor. I asked the people why so much in labor and they said it would take 2.5 hours for each headlight. I already knew this was a rip off so I just walked out. I was able to buy better headlights cheaper online and it took me 20 minutes all together to replace my headlights. I am not a car person by any means but I was able to watch a YouTube video and was able to do it way quicker then the professionals? I wanted an appointment and the associate said I had to come in to see my current stereo. Worst customer service ever. If you come in there and you want to spend thousands, you will get a five star service. I had a very sloppy install of a microphone. Now the wires hanging down. It's a five minute fix. I asked the manager if he would have a service tech look at my issue. They would not look at my issue. The store manager asked me if I wanted to leave it with them or book an appointment. I said you must be kidding. It's a five minute fix, I told them that their proposed solution was unacceptable. I then left. The store manager is exceptionally rude and he doesn't care about customers and he doesn't care about losing business. When purchasing my deck from the Fort Collins location, I was sold a deck, which turned out to be a returned one/should not have been sold. It was also missing a component. This caused me to make two return trips to the store. After a friend and I were unsuccessful in our attempt to install everything, I was told that the Fort Collins location would not be able to assist me today with the install. Bummer. I then called the Northglenn location for their assistance, and Nick Brosky answered. He was nice, answered my questions honestly, and told me that if I came to their store, they could possibly install my equipment today. True to his word, the equipment was successfully installed without issues today! The installer Jake, spent time with Nick assessing my equipment in my car. After a fair price quote, I had Jake install everything. Both Nick and Jake were professional the entire way. I have very high standards, and if they were anything else, I would say so! Don't recommend car toys, at least the location in northglenn. Something shady going on with their pricing/employees. There's no reason that the price would change depending on who is going in asking or how you go about it. Sent my teenage son in to get a radio for his brother. The sticker price was $249 and said free install. They tried to charge him $400 total. When I said no they said they could do $350 but that wouldn't include install even though it clearly says $249 and free install. So I had him walk away. Husband and I went in to buy next day. Was no longer in stock so we ordered and had delivered. Confirmed that it included free install. They said yes but would have to pay for install kit which didn't cost much. Total came to $274 with tax out the door. When the radio arrived, son and husband took it in to get installed and they tried to charge $350 to install!! Wtf they said that was to include the USB cord install to use the Apple car play, otherwise it wouldn't work. Again walked away. Son and husband came home and installed in 5 minutes with no prior installation knowledge!! I actually regret not returning the radio all together and just buying somewhere else because I'm not happy giving them any business. Will never shop there again!! I am in the market to replace my headlights on my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited that I just purchased from Auto Nation a couple weeks ago. Now, I was told to come on down via text message that they might had a couple in stock but they wanted to make sure it was the right on. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it in that evening so I decided to go in the next evening when I was able to. After I informed the gentleman at the counter of the issue, they started to look into the computer and began to ask me some what to be seem random questions about my Jeep (about my rear view camera for one). I answered the question and continued to answered whatever questions they had. Then we finally stop and ask them what this had to do about getting my headlight replaced and that's when they said it would be easier to go to the dealership or someone that nature to get the part and bring it back to them (I totally get the rabbit hole thing when you start looking up stuff and you get side track). On another positive note. I indeed found another product (which is in the picture below) of some products from Adam's Polish (which I have seen off of 88th and I-25), so down the rabbit hole I shall go on that part. Every so often, I'm completely blown away with a customer service experience. Wish it happened more often! Then, every once in a great while, I'm beyond impressed with a product purchased. Almost never, are both the case, great product and service combined. Well, the last time I had that experience was this week, at Car Toys. The customer service was on point. The consultation and radio/navigation selection, the appointment scheduling, the vehicle handoff, the installation, all spot-on. When I picked up the vehicle, the store manager, Chip, personally walked me to the vehicle, in the snow, walked me through the technology, answering all of my crazy questions. Best part of all, the new Alpine 9" screen that powers the entertainment system of our 4WD Sprinter works flawlessly. The OE steering wheel controls control the new system. The hands-free speaker was installed thoughtfully, and nearly invisible. The backup camera was installed perfectly, and everything works flawlessly together. You will see that my profile has few reviews, but this experience was so over the top, I had to shout it from the rooftops. We have purchased car stereos, and had them installed by Car Toys in the past so it was logical to start a search for a new stereo that included CD player here. My dad had recently purchased a new SUV and missed being able to play his CDs. We were greeted right away by Ryan, who was very helpful and directed us to options. After locating one we thought would work well Ryan suggested we get a tech (James Jones) to check out dads vehicle to make sure it would work. James was very nice and sat with dad in his SUV to explain how the new one would work. Come to find out Dads SUV already had a CD player. James was very professional and amiable about our mistake.
